Freeman’s Cleansing Apple Face Mask – Face Mask Friday #56

Freeman’s Cleansing Apple Face Mask – Face Mask Friday #56

I picked the Freeman’s Cleansing Apple Face Mask up whilst in the airport on the way back from honeymoon last year on a bit of a whim after having a little bit of spare cash floating around my purse. I was suckered in by the Allure Award winning stamp (why I don’t know, things like that never normally work on me) – but I was intrigued about the brand having not heard anything about it – it was also very budget friendly converting to around £4.50 for a giant tube.

I mentioned a few weeks ago in my GlamGlow Tinglemud revisit that there was a mask which I felt like had similar qualities and was cheaper – this was the mask I was talking about. I wouldn’t go as far as saying that it’s a dupe as the ingredients are entirely different, but in terms of a checklist of it’s meant to do “this, this and this” for your skin the two marry up quite nicely.

Freeman seems to be a budget friendly brand which has it’s finger in a lot of different skincare pies, being a an umbrella brand for different ranges and is stocked all over the world. In the UK there seems to be only one line (a foot cream one) that’s easily accessible in Superdrug and apart from that these don’t seem too easy to find – the best place I’ve found this is on Amazon (which comes with a free peel off mask sachet) for £7.99 – which is completely reasonable.

The packaging of this is clean and simple, with a nice illustrated design on the front – in a squeezy tube that’s easy to distribute onto the fingers and spread across the face. I was expecting with this to be a synthetic fake sickly apple but infact it was a nice light ‘real’ apple scent. The mask is a two in one clay mask and scrub (one of the things that reminded me of GlamGlow), the clay mask is a peachy pink tone and is very thick and creamy in texture which spreads easily through the face.

The clay texture feels smooth and almost cooling on the skin – it dries down over the period of about 10-15 minutes but it never seems to get that that uncomfortably dry and cracking stage that can happen with some clay masks. The scrub element is barely visible at first glance and it’s only really when rinsing away that you can see the size of the fine scrub particles that were left behind.

Once washed away the skin feels incredibly soft and smooth – almost like a silky face powder has been applied the skin- I found my pores looked less obvious although I’m sure that’s more due to the powdery type residue being left behind to fill the gaps rather than this actually being any smaller.

The fine scrub does a great job of buffing away dry skin and making the skin feel smooth and clean. The clay in this mask does well to drag out impurities to the skin and I found over the days that followed my oil production decreased, well delivering on it’s magnifying claims. I’ve been using this once a week for the past few weeks and I have to say my skin has started looking amazing – I’ve had the odd tiny spot on my chin, which goes faster than it emerges – but it seems to be doing a fantastic job of delivering on keeping my skin clear, soft and oil under control.

This does a better job of what I expected Tinglemud to do, like I said whilst not identical in appearance they have very similar qualities in terms of what they are and what they’re meant to do. That’s a clay based mask with leaf particles inside that performs as a scrub and this does a better all round job in my opinion of mattifying, scrubbing and making the skin feel better straight off the bat, and it’s around 9 times cheaper and you get way more of it.

Out of all the masks that I’ve tried and tested recently the Freeman’s Cleansing Apple Face Mask is fast rising to becoming one of the best at the top of the pack and feels like a worthy replacement for my discontinued forever-favourite mask, the Body Shop Blue Corn mask.

Have you tried Freeman’s Products before?

I was checking Freeman masks before but never really bought one and this sounds great. In the UK, they have their own site where they sell but there is better selection on notino.co.uk.

Ahh that’s good to know! I do think I came across that site when I was researching where it was but didn’t notice the product as the packaging is different!

Ooh! I’ve never heard of this brand but sounds right up my street – I think I would have loved tingle mud if it hadn’t have left my face on fire – I’ll have to hunt this one out once my stash has been depleted 😂 xx

Omg I was SO sad when they discontinued that Blue Corn 3in1 mask from The Body Shop!!! Happy to find someone who knows of it and agrees! I have not heard of this brand before at all but if I ever see it, will definitely give it a go. Great review!

Thank you! I was so sad when I finished my pot off at the end of last year went to repurchase it and was like where the bloody hell has it gone! I turned on so many of my friends to it too and they’re all as sad as I am – this is definitely the closest I’ve found to that one!

I haven’t tried this apple one, but Freeman makes an oil absorbing lemon and mint clay mask that I love!

This mask would draw me in just for the fact of the apple on the packaging! It just makes it seem like it would be refreshing. It’s good to hear that this mask performed pretty well too xx

This sounds really nice, especially the scent! Glad you found a cheaper dupe for the Glamglow mask 🙂 I never got to try the Body Shop Blue Corn mask, I was a little late to TBS party but what was it like?

I found it was really good at balancing the skin, making it feel clean and h
It has cornflower bits in it that was really great for exfoliating the skin! It was a great all rounder that delivered instant results as well as lasting ones

Fingers crossed they bring it back!

Funny how such an affordable mask can rival that of the pricey GlamGlow. It’s been ages wince I’ve used Freemans masks – I used to love their pineapple enzyme one.
