Face Mask Friday #54 – The Creme Shop Glow Up Skin

he Creme Shop Glow Up Skin

Let’s start by saying, I’ve never felt like more of a tit in a face mask in my life. Now that’s out the way – and we’re all clear, let’s start the review. I picked up these sheet masks from TK Maxx over the weekend and straight away one of these was reserved for a Sunday evening pamper session. When I bought the The Creme Shop Glow Up Skin masks I’ll admit that I thought I was buying a three-piece set of masks that I pieced onto my face (due to there being several other masks from the Creme Shop lying around and they were clear it was three individual treatments), so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box up to find that it was in fact three individual masks.

The Creme Shop Glow Up Skin came in a set of three for £4.99 – which isn’t bad value for money at all, but being TK Maxx I had to look up the real retail price. These come in at $4 individually or $10 for a pack of three. Not the hugest saving – but one of a couple of pounds. The packaging of this is lovely the box is that soft matte texture, with a holographic panel featuring the product info, with also a holo horn and hooves on the character too.

The packaging states that it comes with a Rainbow Pearl Essence (which FYI is the next best thing to unicorn tears) and the face mask will restore dullness and add glow. My skin over the past few weeks has looked incredibly tired, dry, lacking glow and dehyrdrated, so this seemed like a good option to try and add a bit of life back into my skin. My one grumble with the packaging… maybe it’s because I’m a year older and becoming more of a tutting Grandma, but it’s listed with a Fun Fact – “Rainbows are sidewalks for Unicorns” – which is just made up and not a fact, it would have been way more beneficial if they’d included a fact about an ingredient.

I was a little bit sceptical whether the Shimmery Rainbow Pearl would be something that was actually visible, and it is wehn you see all the serum pooled together when it’s in the packet, but when the sheet mask itself was unfolded it couldn’t be captured whilst it was there very subtly. I was pleasently surprised to see how the details of this mask were carried through to even the inside of the packaging with the inside of the individual sheet masks being holo.

I’ve now used two of three of these masks now and both of these were almost like they were shoved in a ball and unfolded with great difficulty. I don’t know whether it was just an unlucky coincidence or not but I think partially due to me having to pull at the mask so much to get it back into shape, but it made it a pretty ill fitting sheet mask that was prone to sagging.

Expectations were to look as pretty as the illustration below.

Reality was that it was a more flamboyant unicorn with a goatie.

The top half of the mask was pretty, with unicorn horn on the top, ears above the eyebrows, nose detail and subtle stars on the cheeks, all spoilt by something that looked like a pink to purple ombre beard on the bottom. Whilst I felt like a complete tit wearing it, I could put that all aside for good skincare.

I left the mask on for the full instructed 20 minutes and massaged in the limited serum residue that I then massaged in. After about 10 minutes I could feel that my skin felt dry, so I began the inspection process. My skin to the touch felt no plumper, or softer and if anything I found that maybe it actually felt that it had dried my skin out a little – not in a good oil control way, more in a “ahh, you needed more dehydration way”. I didn’t feel like my skin looked particularly glowy in the slightest and overall I felt like there was pretty much no change. I decided to retry the second of the trio just over a week later when I was feeling less dehydrated and whilst I felt like my skin didn’t feel as stripped of moisture – I still felt like it did nothing for my complexion.

I feel like if  you had really normal skin then maybe, maybe this would give you a little bit of glow. But for the most part I would say that there are far better sheet masks to spend your money, and your time on that will deliver far more noticeable results. And this was sadly the he Creme Shop Glow Up Skin were a gimmick that wasn’t worth the money for me, and I wonder whether there’s any of these printed design masks which are worth the money – or whether they’ve spent all their time and money on design and then give up when it gets to the formula.

Have you tried one of these Animal Sheet Masks?

How adorable!!! A few months ago I also bought an animal mask (tiger) but I haven’t used it as I thought it was too cute to use, which is silly of course. Too bad that this mask wasn’t so good for you.

Thank you – I had a good chuckle at the first sentence of this post… I think we all must sacrifice something for beauty!

I always see these Creme Shop face masks being sold at TK Maxx but it doesn’t seem to be widely talked about in the K-beauty world which is quite interesting to me. It’s good that you researched the actual retail price of these. I think Korean sheet masks in particular are such a rip-off to buy in the UK. They are selling individual Tony Moly sheet masks in-store and online on sites like Beauty Bay for £5 which is pretty up there IMO for just one mask (especially for something not marketed as being premium but pretty standard).

O well, at least the cuteness made you laugh? 😛 it is too cute to work. Clearly the money went into the design.

Flamboyant unicorn with a goatee😂 The best description of a mask. I also find a lot of the cutely designed masks dry my skin out which is a shame. C
