Ten Empties #5

It’s that time again! With another Ten Empties finished up as well as another one looming as I know I’m at the brink of finishing up a handful of makeup items. I’m really pleased with how these empties are going and I find it really motivating almost being able to keep count of what’s being used up.

Haircare

Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner
This is always bought by Ben when it’s on offer for cheap and I always regret telling him NOT Tresemme when I ask him to pick up a conditioner.
Repurchase? No, but ultimately it will keep ending up back in the shower room.

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Detangler Spray
This is one of the best detanglers I’ve found – a lot of the ‘kids’ ones I’ve tried I find I have to use a lot of product, this went a lot further and smelt amazing too. I have a few cream detanglers to use up, but I probably will come back to this in future, I do want to try the Mane n Tail one next time though.
Repurchase? Yes

Skincare

Shills Acne Purifying Peel-Off Black Mask (review)
This was the mask which did the rounds by going viral last year and I felt like at the beginning it was a lot more effective. I don’t know whether the formula slightly changed as the product aged, my skin changed or whether the frequent use of every 2 weeks or so meant that it didn’t pull out as much gunk as it did at the beginning. Personally I feel like it wasn’t the latter as there were a lot of blackheads at times it just failed to grab onto and yank out.
Repurchase? Maybe but I’d be more inclined to try a different mask that does the same thing

Glamglow Thirstymud Facemask 15ml (review)
Probably my favourite mask from Glamglow, this is a gorgeous mask left on overnight. It’s plumping, hydrating and works really well for me. It’s not the most intense I think for dry skin it wouldn’t be enough but for oily-normal skin it’s worth checking out.
Repurchase? Not immediately, I have a lot of masks to get through – but in future I’d consider it.

The Creme Shop Glow Up, Skin! Sheet Mask
There’s a Face Mask Friday coming up this week for this so I won’t talk too much about it, but it’s a mask which features a Unicorn Print design. I’ll give you more thoughts in the review.
Repurchase? I still have two in my stash from the set

Sephora Super Nourishing Lip Balm
I’ve ran through a couple of these now. Both times I’ve picked them up they’ve been when I’ve been abroad and when I just needed something to tie me over without wanting to spend too much. They’re good for the price but will never be my go to. I’d repurchase if I was in the same situation – but otherwise I have many other lip balms to work through.
Repurchase? Maybe.

Bodycare

Bilou Fizzy Berry Shower Foam (review)
This is my second one of these and I really love the scent of this line. It smells like a sweet fizzy drink without being sickly. I find these have many more uses than a lot of other shower foams.
Repurchase? Yes but not immediately – I have a big stash of shower gels which need depleting!

Lush Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask
Another product where there is a review pending which I’m hoping to get up this week. This is a product that I’ve wanted to try for a few years and  it’s one I’ve had sat waiting in my drawer waiting for the perfect oppportunity for some time.
Repurchase? TBC also!

Facialderm Progressive Exfoliation Foot Socks
I have a review of these already in progress – but I wanted to clear out the packet on these as soon as possible.
Repurchase? TBC, still awaiting results

Makeup

Primark PS Shadow Shields (review)
I think I’ve virtually used up the first two packs of these I bought now – I did however restock on them a few weeks ago  so it’s hard to tell exactly as I keep them on a jar on my vanity. I really like these – much cheaper than the orginal.
Repurchase? Already have

Extras

Givenchy Live Irresistible Blossom Crush
I got this as a sample with a recent Debenhams order, I liked it but couldn’t help but feel that it was a bit generic – there was nothing about this that was a standout for me but it was unoffensive at the same time.

Stella McCartney    Stella Peony
Freebie through the post, I haven’t trialled any of the Stella fragrances in the past – this was a twist on her original fragrance and I enjoyed it, similar to the above though this had nothing too unique about it.

Berdoues Somei Yoshino
I don’t know anything about this brand but this came as a sample with a Sephora order last year. I actually really liked this perfume, but I found it didn’t have much longevity on the skin.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free Cleanser
I’m a big fan of the original one of this, but it’s my first time trying the oil-free cleanser. I didn’t like this as much as the original, I didn’t get the same clean feeling.

Algenist Multi-Perfecting Detoxifying Exfoliating
This was a really effective scrub for getting rid of some dry and flakiness but I found that the texture of the scrub itself was quite ‘shard’ like so it felt kinda scratchy.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Exfoliating Cleanser
This was a gritty texture, that left the skin feeling soft and smooth. It reminded me of the Algenist above but I didn’t find it as scratchy on the skin – I’d pick this one out of the two.

Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream x 2
I have no idea where these came from, but I decided to try an use up all skincare samples I had lingering and I’m almost done now. This was a witch-hazel-ey type cream that was thick and oily feeling, it was

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream
I felt like this was a bit too light for me – for young teen skin I think this would be a perfect first eye-cream but not heavy enough for older/dryer skin.

You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here – I’ve already finished up some pricier items for the fifth edition of these and I think the total value will easily hit the £450 mark next time! Or if you would like to read the first two posts in the series, you can click here to see what I already finished up this year.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these and what your thoughts were.

I am using the TREsemme Moisture Rich shampoo and conditioner at the moment and I actually like it. It makes my hair soft and doesn’t make it look greasy in between washes. You are smashing out the empties aren’t you?!

Tresemme in general makes my hair really unmanageable, I find it makes my it really difficult to brush through and it always feels so dry after – there’s probably one common ingredient they use which just doesn’t agree with me!
I am smashing them out 😂😂 I think my reorganisation on deep delve into the backs of my cupboards a few weeks ago made it easy to isolate some products that were easy targets to finish up so there will probably be a consistent flow of these for the next month or two! Feels really good for the piles to be getting smaller though as barely anything is getting replaced ☺️

It feels good to finish a product and get it gone if they’re not great 🙂

I don’t know if it’s because my hair has changed or I need something different from my shampoo but completely agree about tresemee! Xx

It doesn’t agree with my hair at all! Always makes my hair feel so dry, but always drawn to it because it’s on offer!

Is the glam glow mask really worth the hefty price tag? Have been wondering about it x

I think it’s finding the right one for your skintype… some do nothing for me but work wonders for others. The trial mini sets are a great way to find out which is best for you.

I loved reading this, Aussie is my fave!

Mind checking out my blog?! It’s new x

Omg your spreadsheet is awesome!! So many empties already and such a more effective way of keeping count with empties since it’s annoying going from post to post, remembering what you emptied.

I feel you about Tresemme. Luckily no one in my family likes it so I doubt it will end up in my shower again. I have never tried Aussie hair products before so maybe that’s something to keep in mind next time I’m shopping.

Hm, the LUSH Golden Handshake is also unknown to me – never heard of it till now!

I wish I’d done that spreadsheet before – seeing that value creep up is really crazy! I keep having to remind myself that some of these products came in beauty boxes/were sent to me etc and I haven’t spent as much as what’s on that list!

Tresemme is always so tempting when you’re doing a food shop and you know you’re running out as it’s always so cheap! Aussie products are fantastic and worth every penny, I’ve not tried anything from that range I don’t like!

Lush review will be up tomorrow!

love empties posts, such a good way to keep track of what you liked & what-not! that glamglow mask sounds interesting, I always wonder how people keep sleep masks from getting everywhere though!

    • March 13, 2018 / 3:12 pm

This one is just like a more intense moisturiser, takes about 15 minutes to sink in so I put it on as soon as I go upstairs (as I always end up procrastinating!)

  7. March 13, 2018 / 10:45 pm

I need a new detangling spray so I’ll add the Aussie one to my list x
