Meet Jungle Botanics – K Beauty Haircare

Jungle Botanics Haircare

One thing I’ve wanted to try more of this year has been K-Beauty. Little did I know that I would be starting with haircare. When the company Wishtrend got in touch around a month ago I had a little peruse of the site and my eye was really drawn to their Jungle Botanics Haircare.

First up, I’m sure you’re wondering how long they took to arrive, I was told to expect the package within 10 days but within 5 they had swiftly arrived at my door – I was incredibly impressed that they’d made their way over from Korea and through customs so quickly.

Now it’s not hard to spot why the superficial being in me was drawn to these. The packaging of them is beautiful and very insta friendly. These come in a simple but beautiful white cardboard box which features an embossed outline of a tropical palm leaf. Packaging isn’t everything, but opening these up did make me go – ooh, first impressions count and it immediately made me want to wash my hair (a task I rarely enjoy undertaking).

The excitement of the looks of this product didn’t stop at the boxes, with the product itself looking very sleekly designed being adorned with banana and palm leaves. The packaging is quality, without being super-luxe but the finishing touches of the silver Jungle Botanics logo make this fun and luxe without necessarily hiking the price up on being super swanky. It’s the perfect inbetween balance.

So the products – this is a shampoo and treatment duo which falls under the Forest Leaves range. Besides the total goals packaging the other thing which drew me into wanting to try this duo was the fact that the shampoo was called the Cooling Shampoo whilst the Treatment was listed as warming. Both of these qualities I absolutely love when it comes to skincare, so I imagined the same would apply to haircare too.

Both of these came with very little claims – but the thing that intrigued me most when they arrived upon reading the packaging was the ingredient listed on the front “Amazon Forest Complex, Energetic Jungle 10 Oil”. Erm What? I hear you ask, don’t worry I did too. It’s a mix of ten oils from the amazon forest, now I shan’t delve into the benefits of every one – but for the most part these are rich in vitamins, minerals and are highly nourishing.

  • Grape Seed Oil
  • Peach Kernel Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Macadamia Oil
  • Sea Buckthorn Oil
  • Sunflower Seed Oil
  • Cotton Seed Oil
  • Açaí Berry Oil
  • Camellia Flower (Tsubaki) Oil
  • Argan Oil

Jungle Botanics Cooling Shampoo

So first off is naturally the shampoo. This shampoo comes with a pump which is really handy and always a plus for me, it stops me squeezing out too much product and allows me to pump out exactly what I need. The shampoo has a very light, but fresh scent – that aloe-ish type scent that’s refreshing whilst being very subtle. I’m a double shampoo-er every time I was my hair, normally I tend to use the same shampoo for both but this is one that I find better to use as my second shampoo, one dose is enough.

The shampoo is a clear gel like consistency which has a minty-green tint, inside there are blue beads which burst as you massage through the scalp (not microbeads!). The capsules are menthol based and quite obviously is what contributes to that cooling feeling. When menthol doses get high – that feeling becomes tingling rather than cooling and this does sit on that lower end of the spectrum, I tend not to like that really extreme feeling on the scalp, when you rinse those products away it ends up over the eye area and can be painful, this is barely noticeable on the skin. If you’re normally quite sensitive to those kind of feelings, then this might be at a lower level that’s bareable for you.

This shampoo targets itself for people in warmer climates – saying that the cooling feeling being something that’s great after periods of heat/sun exposure – and I can totally see that being the case. But being UK based… we don’t really have that problem too often, especially in February-March when I’ve been putting this to the test. It leaves my scalp feeling refreshed, and my hair looking and feeling clean – sometimes shampoos can make my hair feel quite dry – but all those oils in it contribute to a very nice experience. I’ve tried this alongside the treatment, but I’ve also given it a good separate test drive with other conditioners, and it’s a great shampoo.

Jungle Botanics Warming Treatment

The treatment was out of the two of these what I really wanted to try, I love thermal skincare products. The treatment is to be used in place with a conditioner and left on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off. The texture of this is a thick feeling conditioner – it doesn’t feel too balmy, too oily – just a nice thick consistency.

Now I’ve tried this in a few different ways so far and I can not get the warming feeling to activate. I’ve tried squeezing all the water off my hair, I’ve tried putting it on freshly rinsed hair – I’ve tried what I deem to be a ‘normal’ dose into my hair as well as what feels like an excessive dose. I’ve left it on for 5 minutes all the way up to 20 and not once have I found this to feel like it giving off any kind of warmth on the midlengths, ends or scalp.

Whilst it’s a shame, it’s not a bad product.

My hair brushes through so incredibly easily after I’ve finished washing out my hair, that’s always an good sign of what condition my hair is going to be in once dry, and this was no exception. My ends felt nourished, looked smoother, hid signs of split ends and looked shiny. Overall I had nothing to complain about – I look at treatments the same way I do as masks, they should go above an beyond what a conditioner would deliver by itself – and this one did that. At points I’ve used an excessive dose of this (like I said to try and get that warming feeling working) and my hair felt no better than when I used a normal dose for my hair – that being said I feel like I’ve got a lot more use out of this than I do most other hair masks, that thicker formula feels like it spreads much further and makes the set worth the investment, this is fab as a weekly treatment and I estimate on my long locks I would get around 15 uses from this tube.

The Jungle Botanics Haircare are available to buy from Wishtrend and are currently on offer for $30 (Converts to around £21), at first I thought these were maybe a little bit on the pricey side – but that shampoo I’ve used every hair wash for the past month (at least once, if not twice during the testing phase) and it’s only one third gone, and that conditioner has had a fair workout and would last a really long time as a treatment. You get your uses out of a product that doesn’t feel huge.

Great in-depth review! Thanks for sharing. Being Korean-American, I have had tried my fair share of K-Beauty skin care and hair care products. Related to hair, I am a big fan of British M hair oil, which has similarities to Unite U oil. To keep hair smelling nice and soft, I love Etude House Silk hair treatment spray. I’ve got my thoughts on K-Beauty products I can’t live without. FlyteLiving.com
