Ten Empties #3

I’ve finished 30 products already this year?! Doing these every 10 makes it so much easier to monitor how much I’m actually using up! It didn’t take me long to reach the third edition of this post. I found myself picking off some easy targets to finish and also managed to tick off a good chunk of makeup from my Spring use up already!Makeup

Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation (review)
The more I used this the more I was convinced that this was breaking me out. I should have loved everything about this, matte and full coverage is usually my jam. But this did something special to my oily skin, something that’s really hard to do. It made my skin look dry. Now I could cope with some initial dry looking if when my skin started getting oily it started looking better, but sadly it just broke apart. It had a wear time of about 4 hours before it looked patchy, add to that it oxidised terribly. It was about three shades too dark for me. I was really happy to see this gone because it’s so long and chunky, it’s freed up a good amount of space in my dressing table.
Repurchase? Sadly it’s a no.

W7 Matte Dreamer Loose Powder (review)
I bought this last year and it was another powder I was trying to get gone, I actually really ended up hating the sifter in this so I managed to pull it out so I could directly dip my brush into the pot. This was okay, nothing special but fine for the price. Another chunky tub used up from my powders and foundations drawer in my dressing table.
Repurchase? Unlikely

Stila Smudge Eyeliner in Espresso
I said when I featured this in my use up that this would be a product that would just suddenly be empty and it was. I really liked this for deeping up the waterline without it being a black. I have rebought a similar colour from Stila already but it’s a slight metallic so I’m tempted to go back for this as it’s completely matte and slightly cooler. If I see it in my outlet I will be grabbing another.
Repurchase? Yes

Studio 10 Brow Lift Dual Ended Brow Pencil / Brow Concealer
This has been my go-to brow pencil for a few months and I really liked the formula and colour of this. The Brow Concealer end I didn’t fully complete but I wasn’t as keen on it, and it got to the point where the caps had met each other and wouldn’t stay on if I started to use it any more. It’s £22 which is too high for me.
Repurchase? Unlikely as a bit expensive an would want a full brow pencil, but would use again.

Haircare

L’Oreal Botanicals Camelina Smooth Ritual Shampoo and Conditioning Balm (review)
I picked up these two with high hopes, mainly cause the packaging is pretty luxe looking for a high street haircare line. But it came with a high pricetag of £8.99 each – I picked up on three for two with another shampoo from the line. These two were the matching pair so I trailled these first as my hair had been pretty unruly with the moisture of lots of rain causing me to look a bit like a swamp monster. However it only made my hair more unruly, dry, difficult to brush through and when it was dry it just looked terrible. For the other record the shampoo is not as bad as these are, but I still would not purchase or recommend this line again. Damn L’Oreal, I knew I avoided you for a reason.
Repurchase? Absolutely not

La Riche Directions Dyes in Midnight Blue and Rose Red
I’m currently dying my hair blue (although I think I may now be over the blue phase!) and I’ve been mixing Midnight Blue leaving it on for 10 minutes then applying a coat of Rose Red on top and leaving for 5 minutes to make it a really rich blue that edges towards indigo. Rose Red is the colour which I use when I dye my hair pink if anyone is wondering!
Repurchase? I already have back ups of both shades.

Skincare

Nutmeg Wool Pads
Nutmeg is Morrison’s Baby Range an these are a suitable replacement for my old favourite square pads that suddenly became ovals. I have an upcoming current favourites and they will be featuring so I won’t talk about them too much more.
Repurchase? Already have

b. Pure Micellar Water Wipes
I picked these up after a big old swatch session in Superdrug and then discovering that they had no tissues or anything to wipe everything away.  I needed some wipes anyway so I decided to give these a whirl. I only really buy wipes for wiping down products and when I’m feeling ultra lazy. Most wipes really aggravate my skin and these Micellar ones were a nice change. Despite the fact that they are well sealed with that plastic top I found them pretty dry.
Repurchase? Maybe

Bodycare

Lush Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel (review)
First off Berry this is not, pine scented candle with a hint of berry it is closer to. First off theres a bit left, I can’t get it out, if I leave it upside down it leaks and Lush’s plastic can’t seem to squish it out. I liked this, I didn’t love it.
Repurchase? No

Extras

The Estee Edit Dissolve The Drama Cleansing Oil (review)
This range has now been discontinued, I recently found it in my cleanser box with one use left in it so decided it was right to finish it up. This was okay but not particularly effective.

Erno Laszlo Firmarine Cleansing Oil (review)
Recently reviewed I didn’t get enough uses out of this to be able to form a full opinion, but I know that it was too watery and wasteful for me to consider repurchasing.

Eco Boutique & Coral Sea Shampoos
Just like my last lot of extras these shampoos were used up as brush cleansers. I have two more Eco Boutique Shampoos to use up and then I think I’ve worked my way through all the shampoos.

So that’s my next ten! You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here – these will likely be updated as the empties post goes up. Or if you would like to read the first two posts in the series, you can click here to see what I already finished up this year.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these.

Yay for more empties! I have always been drawn to the L’Oreal shampoo range you mentioned, but sounds like it’s a good thing I’ve not picked it up! xxx

Yeah so far I’ve been very underwhelmed, considering I spent nearly £20 quid on them I could have just refought my pureology favourites for the same price!

I love your experimental hair colours, glad you’ve found a good range of dyes that you like! The Stila eyeliner sounds like a winner, hope you find another!

thanks Chanelle, I’m sure it will turn up at some point, I actually went through my eyeliner pot and found a few similar that I can use up, but will keep my eye on the outlet for rebuying it at some point, it was the perfect colour!

The L’Oreal hair products look nice so it’s a shame they didn’t work for you. I’ve tried shampoos etc from them in the past and my hair didn’t look great after! The La Riche hairdye I used to always see in Camden. I’m sure I must have tried them as I had my hair a new colour each week. The two shades you mix together look really good on you😊 x

You managed to finish so many product this year! Wow, just wow. I suck at finishing a bottle of anything. I think this year is the first time I actually managed to do that, well do that without giving it to my mom to finish. I only used the UD foundation from all of these and I agree with you. For me as well it is a definitely no repurchase. I wanted to try out the L’Oreal haircare products, but I probably won’t after reading this. If you want something more luxe from L’Oreal then I definitely recommend the Kerastase oil shampoo elixir

So many empties already this year! I have so many on the go I should really work on focussing on a few specific ones. The lush berry shower gel was disappointing for me, definitely not the berry scent I was expecting it to be.

I think this way of doing empties does make it easier to track. And maybe you won’t end up with 6 months’ worth of empties in a bag either… 😛
The UD All Night Foundation doesn’t sound like a foundation I’d like… matte, drying, and full coverage are not my jam. Too bad it might be causing your skin to break out.
I haven’t tried Stila Smudge Eyeliners but I’ll keep it in mind – always on the hunt for a long wearing liner for the lower lash line.
