Beauty Bay & Barry M Haul

Beauty Bay & Barry M Haul

For my Birthday from work, one of my vouchers was a Beauty Bay voucher and after my first successful no-buy ever in January, I had a list that was wracking up. Add to that I had a 20% off apology voucher from Beauty Bay coupled with a voucher meant that I went over slightly – but not too much and ticked three items off my wishlist. I then saw an exciting new launch from Barry M, and before I knew it, I’d ordered some products on next day delivery (after failing to find them in three Boots stores, and a Tesco with Barry M).Let’s start with Beauty Bay

In my spring makeup lusting post I had this on my list to get, and that’s the Violet Voss Brush Cleaner (buy here). I’ve been out of a proper brush cleaner for ages and I’ve been working my way through various shampoos that I’ve been trying to use up. I caved for it. It’s the prettiest brush cleaner that I think has been made – it was maybe a bit over priced, but I’ll report back on this!

Next up another item from my Spring wishlist was another Stila Magnificent Metals from the Spring range in the shade Gypsy (buy here). First off, this looks nothing like it does online shade wise, it’s more like a silver to pink/purple duochrome that’s very glittery. It’s stunning, I’ve yet to wear it on the eye. I would say if you’re keen maybe hold off and I will report back, the MM’s normally stick to my hand well but this one brushes away a lot easier than any others that I’ve tried so I’m not sure its going to have good longevity on the lid.

Last up from Beauty Bay was a LA Splash Liquid Lipstick, the Wickedly Divine range (buy here) is one I’ve eyed for a while, the packaging looks more high end than other LA Splash ones and kinda gives me Louboutin makeup vibes. The shade I wanted went out of stock as I was placing an order, so I settled on another shade called Bride’s Revenge (what an awesome name). I don’t have too many peachy undertone neutrals in liquid lip form but the ones I do have I love but they’re not my favourite formula, I hope that this will fill that gap well, it lasts amazingly swatched on the hand.

Onto Barry M.

I think just about everyone at the moment is staring to release their version of liquid eyeshadows a-la Stila Magnificent Metals. Barry M’s ‘Holographic’ Eyeshadow Toppers (always take that holo claim with a pinch  of salt) lit up my eyes. The one thing the Stila Range is lacking is colours, although they have released a few in their. I will say if you’re already a MM fan, then these will not be the same, they aren’t glittery, they are duochromes and are pretty sheer from swatches on my hand I had to apply several layers. I have yet to test these on my eyes yet, but I will report back. These do remind me more of the Colourpop Supernova Shadows so if you’re in the UK and have wanted to test those, picking up one of these is worth a try first. That second shade in the picture, Star Dust – is a pretty near on dupe for Stila Gypsy.

I’m thinking of doing a liquid eyeshadow comparison post, where I’ll compare the 4 formulas I have and show the differences between them all. You can find these in stock on Boots here.

Last up another item from Barry M is their Crushed Jewel eyeshadow, I knew these wouldn’t be the same as the Magnificent Metals OG glitter formula, but it is quite similar to their newer foil formula. This is a gorgeous rose chrome shade with really gorgeous pigmentation. I can’t wait to give these a go. You can find these online here.

What have you treated yourself to lately?

That brush cleaner is so cute! I love the Barry M holo eye toppers – I received their whole holo realease the other day and I think they’re great – pretty vibrant on the eye! I’d love to know what you think of them.

The crushed jewel cream eyeshadow looks and sounds gorgeous! Shame the holo Barry M pots don’t seem to swatch that well. Yes please to the liquid eyeshadow post x

I can’t wait to put it to the test – I’m wearing one for the first time today and it’s a lot more pigmented on the eye than it was on my arm and hand, so that’s good news, i did need to layer it twice though! Working on the post!

It’s interesting how arm and hand swatches can show how differently the product applies when it’s not applied to the area it’s for. Sounds like a positive first impression!

I’d never had guessed that was a brush cleanser! It’s too pretty to use!

I’m so confused by that brush cleaner! I know the black bow is just part of the design…but there’s sparkles and confetti in it, too? I don’t know, but it looks very interesting! The packaging is gorgeous, it’s gonna hurt to destroy it!

Gypsy looks so different than in swatches online! Like you said, much more pink/purple. It’s gorgeous!

Those Barry M liquid eyeshadows are stunning…I can’t wait to see swatches!

Ooh you got some gorgeous bits. Let me know how Stila Gypsy performs. The Barry M liquid eyeshadows look lovely, I’d love to see a review on them too! The brush cleanser is so pretty I thought it was a candle!🙈 x

I will do, I still haven’t worn it after two weeks! Wearing one of the new Barry M for the first time today and it’s surprisingly nice!

I wish we could get Barry M in the States. I want to try their nail polishes really bad.

So disciplined! 20% is such a trigger for me. I am a sucker for discounts *LOL* Barry M is a UK brand, right? Even since I’ve moved, I haven’t seen any of Barry M or Zoella stuff.

The trouble is I’ve ticked off many items of my wishlist and I’m trying to not buy as much this year! I’m being very mindful of what I’m buying! Yes Barry M is UK, I don’t know what other countries they’re stocked in, not a lot by the sounds of it!

  12. February 15, 2018 / 6:07 pm

The Barry m ones look so pretty, the rose gold is one I’ll definitely keep an eye out for. I like the sound of the duochrome, as a sort of eyeshadow topper maybe, if that makes sense. I love solid brush cleansers, though I’ve only had indie brands they’re so easy to use.

Well done on your January no-buy!
Ok, I’m not much into Violet Voss but that brush cleaner is so pretty! Maybe owning that would make me more inclined to clean my brushes more often? 😆
Wow that LA Girl liquid lipstick looks like Kevyn Aucoin packaging… 😮

Yes it reminded me of a cross between KA and Louboutin, it’s got a red gem on the top!
I’m hoping it motivates me to clean my brushes too, I haven’t started putting it to the test yet!
