Ten Empties #2

I finished up my second round of ten empties just at the end of last month. These posts are working out for me a lot easier so far and it’s much easier to keep track and keep moving forward through a giant declutter.

For those of you who haven’t seen I’m doing an Empties post every ten products. By 10 I’m counting as any full or deluxe sample sizes that I feel like I’ve managed to use and formulate a proper opinion on. Occasionally there will be some ‘bonuses’ of products which we’re deluxe, minis or foil packets I’ve used and declutter and will simply be featured to show it’s use-up.

Bluesky Gel Primer
This is a sticky base for gel polishes which adds an extra level of adherence. It’s not required, but it can help if you have stubborn nails like mine for aiding in longevity. Adding this to my mums nails means that it’s actually really bloody difficult to even soak it off and it can last up to 4 weeks!
Repurchase? Yes

Syoss Hair Renaissance Salonplex Conditioner
This is my second one of these and I am really impressed. For the price this is the best budget conditioner I’ve found that smooths, softens and detangles whilst being a decent sized bottle. I still haven’t gotten around to trying other pieces from this range yet, but next time I need to repurchase shampoo and conditioner I will be checking this range out. I’m really missing this currently as I’m using up one from L’Oreal which has left my hair feeling zapped of moisture in comparison.
Repurchase? Yes

Schwarzkopf Got 2 B Rise N Shine Hairspray (review)
I’ve turned a lot of people in my life onto this hairspray and now I’m feeling guilty as it’s being discontinued. I love it so much I wrote a whole love letter to it. I find hairspray sticks in the back of my throat and smells disgusting or it does nothing. This one does something as well as not making me feel like my throat is slowly closing. Every shop I go in I’m keeping my eyes peeled for this and if I do find it, I will wipe the shelves of every bottle that they have. Nothing has compared to this, EVER. I’m on my last bottle which I’ve already used quite heavily as I’ve been suffering with frizzy fly-aways as well as curling my hair quite a lot over the past few weeks so I need to start savouring it more.
Repurchase? Don’t make me cry.

Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm (review)
I’ve ended up with a multitude of cleansers in my shower over the past couple of months and this has been an easy one to focus on using up. This lasted me about 2 months of using it virtually daily. This did feel like a very nourishing balm and melted makeup away well – however I didn’t find it the easiest to remove and without really hot water it was too much of a struggle.
Repurchase? Unlikely, but would use again if I had it.

The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Shower Gel
Something else I’ve had too many on-the-go of is Shower Gel’s and I’m excited to see one of them bite the dust (whilst it may actually be my favourite. I love anything Raspberry, and I think the Body Shop do their raspberry scent the best, I will come back to it in the future, but I have so many to get through it won’t be immediately.
Repurchase? No

CoverFX Blurring Primer
I’ve not had this sample for very long – just a few weeks in fact as part of my Space NK Birthday Gift which I picked up at the tail end of January. I liked how this felt on the skin and made it look and initially I was really impressed when I wore it for an evening out. It’s not a long wear primer for me though and I found it didn’t hold up well on my oily skin. It reminded me of the MUFE Blurring Primer which held up better on me.
Repurchase? No

Fenty Killawatt Highlighter Duo (Fire Crystal/Lightning Dust) (review)
I’ve spoken about this highlighter a fair few times over the past few months and my love and disappointment with it all at the same time. I really love both sides to this highlighter, but the packaging of this sucked because of the focus I found myself having to give one area of the pan meant I hit it very quickly. I would love to get these again if they released these in full pan size form, but these shades are currently only available in the duo, so for now it’s goodbye.
Repurchase? Maybe, see above.

thisWorks In Transition Camera Close Up Primer (review)
This was a three in one product that I really put to the test over the course of a month before coming to the conclusion it was a moisturiser at best and maybe a primer for drier skins at a push. Sadly – it’s not the best performing for me with oily skins and it’s not one I will be repurchasing any time soon.
Repurchase? Nope

Caudalie Resvertarol Lift Moisturiser
This was in my Winter edition of products I was trying to use up and it took so long to get through this. This was a really thin moisturiser that almost reminded me of a sun cream. I didn’t find it lifting in the slightest either nor particularly moisturising, so overall not a fan.

QLabo Eauphoria Moisturiser (review)
I was kindly sent this last year and put it to the test, it was picked out as one of my spring use up items after I had been working my way through it since December and I finally finished it up at the tail end of last week. I said in my Products I’m Trying to Use Up it would be one of those products that would just suddenly be empty and I was right. I enjoyed this moisturiser but I did prefer it a little more in Summer, my skin has been quite dehydrated for the past month or so, and I didn’t feel like this contributed to that issue as much.
Repurchase? Unlikely, I have so many face moisturisers to get through.

“Extras”

Algenist Genius Anti Aging Eye Cream
Not enough of this to know if it worked or not

Clarins Extra Firming Body Cream
I have had this years. Many years and I decided it was time to use it up… I only managed to get one use out of this before it was gone. I have another one of these still to go, so I will report back on whether it’s any good later.

Burberry Body Body Perfume
So glad I managed to finish this up and get this gone. It’s a sample I’ve had for a long time and was a target in this Springs Beauty Use Up.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Loose Powder (review)
Really liked this power, see more about it in my review above.

Coral Sea, Dora, Eco Boutique, Innside by Melia Shampoo Samples
I”ve been trying to use up a load of shampoo samples this month as makeup brush cleansers whilst I was on my no buy and managed to clear 4 out.

Colgate Total Toothpaste & Teeny Tiny Toothpaste
Just had to feature this because LOL look how small that toothpaste from a hotel was versus a full size.

No7 Beautifully Matte Light Foundation
My friend Sophie passed this in a makeup swap session. I didn’t enjoy this as I felt it melted off my face. Despite this I was going to try and use this up but the pump stopped working and there doesn’t appear to be a way to get the rest out.

Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation (review)
I own this foundation but the shade has always been too dark. I got colour matched to see if I enjoyed the foundation more in the right shade for me and it’s still a dud. I won’t be repurchasing when my full size is finished with (which is likely to be the next edition of these!)

So that’s my next ten! You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here – these will likely be updated as the empties post goes up.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these.

I wonder what the difference is between the pixi cleansing balm, and their double cleanse. I really like using the double cleanse and I’ve recently gotten these eco tools face sponges, and it makes it soooo much easier. I am so lazy, so I usually just use whatever can be put on a cotton pad.

The double cleanse has an extra side to it, I tried to look up what the difference between the balms is and they do look different in pictures, but I haven’t seen it in stores to see it side by side. I do want to give double cleanse a go though!

Interesting! Yes, the double cleanse does have a second site. The oil and the cream. I just find it interesting that they have such similar products in similar packaging.
