Face Mask Friday #53 – Your Good Skin Purifying Treatment Mask

Your Good Skin Purifying Treatment Mask

When Boots launched their Your Good Skin Range it had me intrigued to say the least. When I spotted a mask – Your Good Skin Purifying Treatment Mask – at a very affordable price point I had to give it a try and it’s one I’ve given a good test over the past few months, testing on my skin as it’s been through various stages.

This range is targeted towards those in their late twenties to early thirties with problem skin. This describes itself as a purifying treatment which absorbs oil but then says it makes skin feel soft and healthy too – a good all rounded. The tube size is generous for about a fiver and I was really hopeful that this would turn out to be a drugstore gem.

The main ingredients in this mask are Kaolin (clay, to purify and absorb oil), Glycerin (to moisturise) and Green Tea (an antioxidant) which did start to instill it’s all-rounder performance claims. unfortunately for me though, I feel like it’s a mask that’s reflective of its price point.

The first thing I’d say about this mask is that it’s messy. For a clay based masks it’s very thin and liquidy feeling and just smears everywhere as you’re applying it. If you don’t put it on as a generous layer it doesn’t do anything, so trying to get it to layer up and not be messy is hard. It’s very wet as it goes on and takes around 10 minutes to dry down to a texture you’d expect when it comes to clay masks. When first applied this feels quite nice, like a heavy moisturiser which has a slight cooling quality but it soon warms up with heat from the skin.

Now I’ve tried the Your Good Skin Purifying Treatment Mask when my skin has been relatively normal, fighting the urge to breakout, mid breakout, post breakout and my general vibe on is is “meh”. The point I’ve found this most helpful is when I’ve felt like my skin is normal, it adds a layer of moisture down and keeps my skin feeling calm. It doesn’t go as far as feeling soothing when everything is about to burst through the skin, and it doesn’t moisturise enough in a post breakout flakiness. If you have problem skin I’d say don’t expect this to work miracles, if you have normal skin then it might do something for you – but overall even at it’s cheap price point I think there’s better out there that will target skin issues a lot better.

Have you tried the Your Good Skin Yet? What are your favourite budget masks, let me know!

I’ve been tempted to try everything from the Your Good Skin range because it’s always on offer by the tills in Boots. But now I think I might steer clear of the mask, which is a shame because I’d have thought it would be really good. I love clay masks usually xx

I’ve seen them but haven’t tried any! I’m on a mask ban at the moment! I have way too many to finish up or even start using!

I’m a big fan of clay masks for the warmer months. And I really like green tea as a skincare ingredient. But too bad about the performance of this – so odd that it’s so thin and more reminiscent of face moisturizer. I wonder if this could be used as an overnight spot treatment. For a budget option, I like the Montagne Jeunesse masks – they sell them in tubes rather than just single use packs.
