Is the Morphe 25A Copper Spice Palette Nice? Review & Swatch

Morphe 25A Copper Spice Palette

I’ll admit, that I’ve never been that bothered by Morphe, there’s something about the brand that never really drew me in – probably packaging and the fact that most of their most popular palettes are just private labelled whilst they are stepping away from it on some of their newer items to feel like a brand thats more unique, and rightfully so with the amount of hype that it has. If there was one lot of palettes that stood out to me more over the others it was the 25 palettes, and when I spied the Morphe 25A Copper Spice Palette discounted on Beauty Bay for £13 I decided to swipe it up to try.

This is the older packaging with a clear lid and square pans rather than the new circular ones (it looks like you get less product in the new ones I will say!). The packaging of this is sturdy but as cheap feeling as the price tag, mine arrived scratched from the beginning and for a palette which has been really carefully handled thus far looks pretty battered on the lid, milky looking like it needs a good clean. I shan’t dwell on this too much as the design has been addressed in the newer palettes, but it’s worth noting that for 25 shadows at that price point, the packaging did feel reflective.

The finishes these are mostly matte shades, the palette sits warmer toned with lots of peach to copper hues, whilst the darker matte shades sit a bit more neutral toned. On first glance there are things about this palette I’m not super keen on, I wish there were some lighter metallics which complemented this – a pale shimmery peach is missing from this palette as an inner corner highlight.

All of the metallics pay off pretty much the same level of ‘deep’ on the eye and it would be nice to have some darker metallics as well as some lighter ones. Looking at the mattes I can see that there’s quite a few of these which can ben used interchangeably, look at shades 1 & 3 from the first row and whilst I love a peach in the crease I can’t argue you need both – a pale beige for setting the eye would have been way more useful than two virtually identical shades. The same goes for the mid-toned browns.

In the newer palettes the colours are named and as the colours are the same I have listed them here, but in the old palette there’s no way to refer to them.

Copper Spice Swatches

Row 1:

Overcast – A matte transition shade in a more yellowy peach

Sand Dollar – A matte transition shade in an odd beigey grey

Penne – A matte transition shade in a more orangey peach. If I’m honest I don’t love any of these first three shades alone, I like dipping my brush into all three to neutralise them out somewhat.

Layered – Matte peach shade thats gorgeous under the lashline and creating lots of warmth in the crease.

Sunrise

Row 2:

Nickel – This is a soft satin shade that isn’t quite a matte. It’s a rich orangey beige.

Lit – A warm mid toned brown that looks nice on the outer corner for a softer outer corner.

Tan Lines – The last three on this row are pretty much dupes and aren’t needed. One of these would e more than enough. Tan lines is the nicest formula IMO and is good for building up depth in the crease

Mojave – Basically indistinguisable to Tan Lines.

Sweet Mango – Same as tan lines, moderately warmer

Row 3: Afterlife, Oasis, Version, Radar, Chase

Row 4

Foxy – This isn’t quite as foily as the rest of the row, it does however look gorgeous on the eye and blends out beautifully. It reminds me of a more orangey MAC Woodwinked.

Rose Gold – The coolest tone in this palette that amongst all these firey tones looks quite taupe but does translate to a more rose-gold tone shade on the eye

Polished – A stunning gorgeous vivid copper metallic that’s ultra buttery.

Sunbeam – This is a standout from the palette it’s a cross between a yellow and a gold and it’s gorgeous.

Ember – In the pan you can see a light layer of silver glitter which doesn’t really translate to the eye. I love the tone of this one, but out of all the metallics this is the hardest to work with as the pigment is so intense. A little goes a long way.

Row 5:

Brass – The last metallic, this is a gorgeous dark rusty shade. Great pigmentation but a little bit too dark for me all over the lids.

Just Shadow – a dark shimmery brown that sits a little bit cool.

Suede – This has  soft gold fleck in the pan which once you get past the first swatch seems to disappear. Has a moderate shimmer but is similar to Destination

Destination – A deep matte brown, found right on my outer corners most of the time!

Unveil – Matte black with decent pigmentation. Good as a liner.

Morphe 25A Copper Spice Palette Eye Looks

The Morphe 25A Copper Spice Palette is impressive for the price for me. The metallics are definitely the stars of the show and like I said I wish there was a different variety of tones, some lighter foils would certainly not go a miss in this palette to create some more diverse looks. The mattes in this palette at first I wasn’t the biggest fan, but what I’ve learned to love about them is that they’re buildable, again I just wish there was some more variety of shades as so many of these could be used to create the same look and you’d be none the wiser which of several had been used. It’s left me intrigued about these palettes, I would quite like to try the other 25 palettes out of any and will be keeping my eyes peeled for another deal as good as this was!

If interested Morphe palettes are available to buy from Boots & Cult Beauty in the UK at the moment.

I have had my fingers crossed you’d do a post about this palette! I have tried a couple of looks myself and the shadows I do like, I did an all matte, dark look for work a few weeks ago and I loved it. I am a little intimidated having 25 shades to choose from and need to spent more time experimenting. I tried the gold shade but it looked very yellow on me so I need to figure out a way to tone that down lol. Great post as always xx

I like the amount of work you put into this review so thank you for that. I also like that you didn’t just swatch and toss up a good/bad review it’s clear you have spent some time with this palette. The colours came out beautifully on you 😉

I’ve got the same palette and it’s my absolutely favourite for traveling and everyday looks. It’s super pigmented and versatile, so I can’t really complain.

Only Morphe palette I have is the 35W, which I like. I do need to use it more as I haven’t for awhile. I have the Sedona Lace version of the 35O, which I absolutely love. It’s one of my top 5 palettes ever.

I don’t know why, but I just can’t get into Morphe. I think it’s all the YouTubers shilling it.
The mattes actually look decent! Pretty much any brand can do shimmers / metallics these days at any price point, but mattes are a true test. This palette is way too warm for my liking but is completely trend with all the warm palettes out there.
I still have to bust open the BHCosmetics palette I bought ages ago – I suspect it’s from a similar private label manufacturer. Hope the quality is just as good at this.

I completely relate to your reasoning – especially when it’s so raved about when they’re just private labelled from crown brushes. I like that they’re trying to be more unique now though and start moving forward with palettes which are unique!
I keep thinking I’ve tried bh cosmetics, but I always get them muddled with coastal scents who I don’t like!

Love the Sunbeam shade. So suits you! I agree though, far too many samey shades the second row looks identical. The shimmers look best but then they always appeal most to me😊 x

Morphe is all over youtube that its quite overwhelming. I thought it is an influencer made brand or something. No idea that they’re sold this side of the world too. It’s nice to read an review outside of Youtube. That second eye look looks blood fantastic! You need to give a “tutorial” post a go, you know. You’ve made so many bomb eye looks over the years.
