Glamglow is one of those brands I have been wanting to try more from for a long time, but the price of the full size masks can be a little off-putting, especially when I consider the first one I bought left me feeling a little underwhelmed. After Christmas I found a full size mask accompanied by a set of three minis. It seemed like the perfect opportunity at the steal of a price it was at, to give it a try, and we’re starting with Glamglow Thirstymud.
I definitely feel like my skin has started to shift over the past few months, whether it’s that I’ve found products that really work for me for aiding in oil control or whether my skin is actually becoming less oily, or it’s just a seasonal change I don’t know. I do still have oil but it’s no where near the extent as I would normally suffer with, even at this cold time of year – I have however felt that winter has properly zapped the moisture out of my skin and I was becoming quite de-hydrated, which is why the Glamglow Thirstymud mask was the first on my new mask additions to test out.
Thirstymud normally comes in a blue aluminium pot, but for this deluxe sample came it tube form, arguably way more practical for the texture of this product. This is a 15g tube which I estimate would give you 4-6 uses, you can get the 15ml aluminium pots for £16, or the full size 50g pot for £50 (roughly 20 uses).
This is a gel cream like formula that spreads far and well. It has a slight cocktail of coconut and almond scent to the product, as well as a beige tint which when applied to the face in a thin layer is virtually undetectable to the skin. It looks and feels like a moisturiser whilst on, I suspected it could be worn as a sleeping mask due to it’s light texture and as long as you give it a good 20 minutes to dry down and the tackiness to wear off then you are able to do that. It’s a good mask to apply for being around the house when you need to get other shit done as you’re not left with a mask that starts crumbling as it dries out.
After a few trials of this for various lengths of time I do have a preferred way to use it. I find if I leave this for the recommended short wear of 20 minutes then this just feels like I’ve left a nice moisturiser or serum on my skin. Maybe a good moisturising sheet mask at a push. It’s nice enough but for the price it doesn’t wow me and I find the effects do wear away quite quickly.
As a sleeping mask the effects of this are much more impressive, my skin looks and feels more hydrated, it’s soft to the touch and overall I feel like everything looks more plump and youthful. It reminds me of a better version of The Body Shop’s Bouncy Sleeping Mask which I love to treat my skin too if I know I want a really flawless makeup look the next day, I feel like the effects of Glamglow Thirstymud extend longer and do just that little bit more overall for the complexion.
For it’s price I don’t find the ingredients list all that impressive, but that being said it does work and works well. The ingredients include coconut, glycerins and triglycerids (a fatty acid which is a mix between coconut and glycerin… notice a pattern?) which will be aiding most in the moisturisation of the skin. Whilst the smoothness is aided by silicones which will aid in making the skin feel smoother.

The sleeping mask idea sounds like it works really well for you. It’s nice that it’s more like a moisturiser/serum so you’re able to use it that way 🙂

If you can find them on sale I think that they’re worth it, but I wouldn’t buy them at full price. I got the 2 full size masks for the price of £26, normally one full size would be £42.
I absolutely adore this mask, i have such dehydrated skin and it works wonders for me in the 20 minutes and as a sleeping mask. It’s made my skin feel so soft and bouncy it has solved a lot of skin related problems for me, I had the small aluminium jar to begin with and got about 12 uses out of it and now i’ve got the big jar and used it a good few times and it looks like i’ve hardly touched it so I can see it lasting a very long time! Lovely review as always xx
I tried a couple of Glamglow muds maybe 3/4 years ago and I initially liked it, then found it wasn’t really helping with blemishes but drying my skin out. This one sounds quite nice though used as a sleeping mask xx
