Five New in the Shower Room #2

I change things often in my shower room and I soon move onto new things. I posted one of these a few months back and thought I’d share some products from the latest switch around which are all new to me. This is my Five New in the shower room… I mean there’s technically 6, but two are kinda linked in my opinion so far….

Baylis and Harding Midnight Fig & Pomegranate Hand Wash
Oh my god, I wish smelli-vision was a thing. I bought two bottles of this back in November and they’ve only just made their way into use in my bath and shower rooms. I love fig scents, and I love pomegranate scents and this is truly the best of both combined. This is a permanent scent from Baylis and Harding – and I wish I’d bought it in the non-Christmas packaging, at the time it seemed like a good idea but given I only started these just before Christmas and knowing how long these bottles are going to take to get through… it seemed like a good idea at the time!

L’Oreal Botanics Camelina Shampoo and Conditioning Balm

You may have noticed Loreal isnt a brand I feature a lot on my blog and where possible I do actually try to steer clear. And I think I overlooked my morals for packaging in this case which I’m kicking myself for. I picked this up as it was described as for unruly hair and it’s sat on my bathroom shelf for quite some time and I finally put them in my shower when I ran out of shampoo.

I really like the packaging of this line, it looks sleek and more on the higher end side – it’s worth it’s price tag. The camellia scent is lovely – it has a slight minty quality and feels quite refreshing on the scalp.

The shampoo of this is nice enough, but not extraordinary in any way, and I wouldn’t say it does anything to help my frizz prone hair become less unruly. The conditioning balm is an interesting texture, imagine a conditioner and a body better has a baby and that’s how it feels in the palm. I’ve found I don’t need much product as it spreads further than a normal conditioner on wet hair. I find this makes my hair harder to manage, it really weighs my hair down and doesn’t rinse out very easily. Overall not particularly impressed with them so far, I’m going to stick with them for another couple of weeks and if still crap I give these to Ben to work his way through.

Lush Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel
Okay – my first Lush shower gel. Out of the three I purchased as part of a set, this one looked the most Christmassy – so I decided this would be the one that I cleared out the way first. This is a pretty forest green gel, with glitter scattered through. Mine had clearly been laying down in the gift set so long that most of the glitter settled and stuck to the back of the bottle, so I suspect mine is not coming out anywhere near as glittery as it should be doing – or it’s going to be full on disco ball towards the end.

I’m a big fan of anything berry scented – in fact the other two shower gels in my shower are also berry scents, this to me isn’t classically berry – being Cranberry and Blueberry based, their two berry scents that are pretty light in potency.

Nip & Fab Glycolic Cleansing Fix
I’ll admit that I’ve had this in my drawer for quite some time, I tried it a few times and thought man this toner is gooey, before about 8 months after buying it realised whilst contemplating throwing it, “Oh, it’s a cleanser” – I must have thought I was buying a toner in the shop or picked up the wrong bottle and I’ve never re-read the bottle in the meantime.

Now it’s in the right location and I’m not attempting to use this as a toner (what a idiot).

Syoss Salonplex Hair Renaissance Conditioner
I’ll admit that this isn’t quite new-nee and this is my second bottle of the stuff but I’m yet to talk about it. I picked this up on a whim because it was cheap and we were staying overnight somewhere and I’d forgotten to pack shampoo and conditioner. When I saw it was made by Schwarzkopf I had low expectations as for some reason I don’t get on well with their their shampoo and conditioner, and boy was I wrong.

This gives me the same kind of effect as Aussie Three Minute miracle and it’s double the size and also a bit cheaper. My hair isn’t quite as soft (but still very good), but I find it easy to brush through and makes my hair really easy to manage, the ends look smooth and hair looks sleek and shiny. I’m definitely keen to try some more from this range in future.

Any newness in your shower room at the moment that I should be trying (or avoiding!)?

that lush shower gel sounds lovely, berry scents are so nice! I find that I had to shake some of m lush shower gels up before I use them, maybe the glitter would un-stick 🙂

I seriously do not understand LUSH’s love for glitter in bath products. I avoid at all cost!
Nothing new in the shower lately – I’ve been trying to finish up the “I Love…” shower gel in Raspberry & Blackberry which is lovely.

No me neither, fortunately the glitter isn’t sticking in this shower gel!
I still need to try that range, but I’m determined to not buy any new shower gels until I’m through everything I have, I have 3 in the shower currently and another 3 unopened ones, it could well keep me going for the rest of the year without needing to buy more.

LMFAO @ the Nip+Fab cleanser! Hehehehe. 🙂 I actually have that, as well – it’s a little harsh for me so I passed it on to DH, who seems to like it.

Oh, it is so very hard to avoid L’Oréal…they own so much stuff. I do quite like some of their new drugstore hair products.

The packaging on the Bayliss and Harding hand wash totally caught my eye in the group shot! Even though it’s red and gold, it doesn’t really look like Christmas packaging until you get up close.

Ooh I bet that Lush shower gel is pretty – too bad it’s not as berry-scented as you would like!

I was so puzzled if I was missing something with the lush shower gel, I’d just finished up using the body shop raspberry one and that one is so much more berry in comparison! I had to ask Ben what he thought it smelt like and he didn’t know – it’s pleasant enough, but it’s not very berry – let alone berry berry!
