Empties Day – Haircare

Today I wanted to essentially get all my empties out of the way from October-December and I didn’t want to drag it out over loads of days but also didn’t want to do a super-long post. So there will be not one, not two, not three but four posts going live today – you can pick the topics that interest you the most. Here’s the haircare edit…

Styling Products

Schwarzkopf Supersoft Kids Dentanging Spray
I bought this over summer to take on honeymoon with me. I tend to find kids dentanglers very effective, and also a bit smaller in size (so good for travel). The L’Oreal ones are so sickly I tend to avoid this so picked up this pretty fairy one instead which wasn’t as bad smelling as I thought it would be. This was okay – but I think I’ve finally found an adult spray that has does a good job!
Repurchase? Unlikely, but would use again if I had it.

Frizz Ease Hair Serum
You’ll notice there’s a good 8th of the product left in here, the pump stopped pumping and I didn’t care for the product enough to be willing to create mess trying to crack it open to use every last drop. This wasn’t my favourite and was a pretty heavy feeling serum.
Repurchase? No.

Frizz Ease Original 6 Effects Hair Serum
Another Frizz Ease Serum that was my target product of the last half of 2017 to get used up. I quite liked this in comparison to the one above! It was lovely and moisturising, a lighter formula that smoothed the ends of my hair well. I rarely buy hair serums as I always seem to get them at events or in beauty boxes, so I never need to repurchase any.
Repurchase? No, only for the reasons above though.

Dry Shampoos

Colab Dry Shampoo in Unicorn
Not gonna lie, did buy this particular one for Instagram purposes, but used it all and threw it away before I remembered *sigh*. This was actually really nice, I was expecting that it would be really sickly and sweet  but it was just a nice pleasant fragrance that didn’t smell of anything in particular. Like all other colab dry shampoos it did the job well but isn’t an ultimate fave.
Repurchase? Maybe.

Aussie Wash + Blow in a Can (review)
The Aussie dry shampoo is my favourite so I wanted to see if this new addition to the line was any good. In short, no, not it’s not. Not good at making the hair feel clean and it doesn’t offer the root reboot it promises either. It is untraceable, but not in a good way!
Repurchase? That’ll be a no.

Morrisons Dry Shampoo Fantastically Floral
I picked this up in a rush in Morrisons after being very unimpressed with the prices of anything branded. I was expecting this to be Batiste levels of powderyness, but it’s actually surprisingly good. I found this did leave a bit of residue to the touch, but it didn’t give me a horrible grey cast that I try to avoid. But did rescue my hair from the need to be washed.
Repurchase? Actually, yeah probably!

Maui Moisture Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner & Agave Hair Mask (review)
I’d spied this range for quite a while and eventually took the plunge when I spotted it on three for two. Overall I’d describe it as okay. It smelt great but wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be for how much they were, these were I think £8.99 a piece for what is a fairly normal size shampoo and conditioner.
Repurchase? No

Khadi Nussgrass Shampoo
I was sent this last year and truth be told I really didn’t get on with it at all with my hair. I found it made my hair really heavy and greasy feeling. I ended up using this as a makeup brush cleaner which it worked well for, but I wouldn’t repurchase again with that reason in mind.
Repurchase? No

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle
A Hair item I’ll always come back to – I’m sure you’ve already tried it at some point. Smooth, silky hair that smells great.
Repurchase? Not for now, I want to try some new pieces

Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner
I picked his up by accident, yet again I thought I was picking up the shampoo and accidentally picked up the conditioner. I like this but I like three minute miracle more – I do bloody love the shampoo though!
Repurchase? Not on purpose!

Syoss Hair Renaissance Conditioner
I had low expectations of this being any good but it was picked up on a bit of a whim in Tesco’s whilst I was shopping. This works so well and it’s affordable. I’ve got another post coming up where this features so I won’t talk about it much more now!
Repurchase? Yes, already have.

My Hair Matters Smooth Shine Conditioner
This was a hopeful purchase, Sainsbury’s relaunched their own haircare range and I was hoping to find a really budget friendly conditioner I could pick up at anytime and not have to strategically buy on offer. Sadly it made my hair feel like straw. After a few uses I gave up and used it as a shaving aid!
Repurchase? No

Herbal Essences Bio Renew White Strawberry and Sweet Mint Shampoo
I was really intrigued to try this line from Herbal Essences. It’s a bit pricier than their normal line and I kept waiting to see it on offer and eventually succumbed even though it wasn’t. This entire line smells amazing, but this one in particular was the most me. This left my hair shiny and very clean feeling. The mint in it gave my scalp a light tingle.
Repurchase? Yes, very intrigued to try more from the range too.

Pureology Strength Cure Shampoo & Conditioner (review)
I used these just before I had my hair cut, and honestly I was staggered at the difference that this duo made to my hair. Never would I have thought I would spend so much on a shampoo and conditioner but as I was running out I found myself ordering more online! I think this is really good for damaged hair and I have mine in waiting for when my hair is starting to look like it needs a pick me up.
Repurchase? Already have

Scottish Fine Soaps Au Lait Shampoo
This line is such strange scented for hair care, very cotton like. I love it when my hair smells of linen! This was okay, nothing to write home about.

Mason and Miller Shampoo
This i actually used up as a body wash instead of a shampoo – I have a few of these and whenever I’ve tried them in the past it’s given me dry feeling hair.

Directions Midnight Blue Hair Colour
If you didn’t know I currently have blue hair. I’ve not uploaded a picture anywhere as of yet where you can see it, so you’ll only catch glimpses in my instastories. (Where it never shows up as blue as it is). I’ve had a growing fascination with blue hair for a while and wanted to try a diy approach before a salon visit which I knew would require more bleach preblue. It’s not quite the right colour I was looking to achieve so I may try one more directions blue before I admit defeat and go to the salon (or change my mind and go back to normal). I do already have one of these spare which I may use up first.
Repurchase? Already have one!

Lush ‘New’ Hair Oil (review)
A rare foray into lush for me. This product has poor instructions for one, it’s a solid soap like item you mix in a mug with water to make into a hair mask, trouble it it doesn’t tell you how much water you need and the mix I made was way too thick as a result it was a nightmare to wash out. I would consider trying these again as it did make my hair really soft and smooth (several shampoos later).
Repurchase? Maybe

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these and what you thought in the comments if so.
Check out my three other empties going up today…

The White Strawberry and Sweet Mint shampoo sounds good, I have to see if we have this scent over here!

I use the Maui Moisture shampoo in the green bottle (for fine/thin hair) and Loooooooooove it. It cleans my hair without leaving my scalp itchy which had been an issue for me. The conditioner was crap, barely conditioned my hair.

I think you manage to get Maui Moisture a lot cheaper there than we do. It equates to about $12 converted to you and it’s just not worth the price tag for me!

Ouch! Yea it’s around $9 here but I think it’s going away because it’s currently in clearance

You try a lot of hair products! I’m so boring I use the same shampoo, I just sometimes try different conditioners🙈 x

I find hair serums a questionable product. For me, they either don’t do a thing or they weigh down my hair.

Ahhh I want to try that Colab dry shampoo in Unicorn (haha that product was made for IG, no doubt). I hope they bring that here.

Have never seen that Lush ‘New’ Hair Oil – will have to check to see if they’re carried here.

Phew, I’m done. And well done to you for posting all of these and finishing up so much! Do you keep a tally any more?

I wouldn’t buy a hair serum but do use them if they come in beauty boxes. I tend to prefer a serum over an oil on dry hair, especially as a finishing product for curling my hair – I find oils tend to weigh it down more.

They store those hair masks in little mugs here with the sticks standing up – they look like little blocks of wax!

I haven’t kept a tally this year – I may do a quick tot up on my lunch tomorrow and see how much I got through. My guess is 300?!
