Boots Points Haul & Wedding Voucher Spends

Boots Points Haul & Wedding Voucher Spends

It’s a bit of a tradition for me to spend my collected Boots points after Christmas whilst the sales are on. The Christmas gift sets are reduced heavily and it’s normally the best time in the year to pick up things like perfume whilst all their gifting range is around 50% off. We also got some vouchers from our wedding June which we finally got round to spending so I thought I’d share those purchases too as it all came from one shopping trip to Nottingham.Boots Points

Glamglow Mask Set – £27.99

I had eyed this up a couple of times and it went on sale for half price, I looked at it in Boots and decided I wasn’t going to get it, but I saw the same set laid out in Space NK and saw how decent the sizes were I decided to go back to Boots and get it with my points.

If you’re a regular reader then you’ll be no stranger to the fact that I love a face mask, and I’ve only ever tried one from Glam Glow in the past. Admittedly it wasn’t one I loved or would want to repurchase, but this Set was such good value and there’s bound to be one in here than I like, and the value of the Set was too good to pass up.

The set contained a 50ml (full size) Youthmud which by itself is normally £42 – with 15ml samplers of Youthmud, Gravitymud and Thirsty Mud – which almost adds up collectively to another full size pot – so this Set has a value of around £80 (I’m too full of chocolate right now to do the specific maths), but fantastic value for money.

YSL Black Opium Collectors Perfume 50ml – £47.51

Black Opium has been on my list to get for the past 18 months or so, I promised myself it would be my treat for when I’d finished up most of the perfumes I’d been trying to clear out of my collection. I’d tried to snag a gift set in the Sales but they sold out online immediately, this was the same price as the 50ml bottle sets, so whilst it wasn’t quite as good value as the sets, the price of this is normally £70, and as a fragrance that never goes on offer it was worth it. This was the LE Christmas design of the bottle which is why it was discounted and I managed to snag the last one in the store.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Brush Set – £15.00

I thought the Real Techniques sets felt really overpriced this year, but in the sale they were much better value. This one contained the 200 oval blending brush which is one of my favourites for blending and costs more than 15 by itself if bought normally. This pot for me is too small and looks a little cheap, and I don’t think I’ll use it, I’m going to keep it in my cupboard and if I’ve not found a use for it in a few months I’ll toss it out.

John Lewis Wedding Vouchers

Ben and I were gifted several batches of John Lewis vouchers for our wedding we had an idea of what we’d wanted to get and hadn’t really seen anything over the past 6 months that had taken our fancy online. We visited the Nottingham store last week and found the two things we’d wanted to get and snag a good deal on them too.

Pure H4 Bluetooth Radio

We got this to replace the radio in our kitchen, which I got for Christmas pre-Uni when I was about 16 maybe, so it’s over 10 years old. It’s been in every kitchen we’ve lived in together and whilst it still works, it’s fabric speakers have absorbed some marks over the years, and it also take up quite a lot of space on the worktop – so it’s one we’re putting in the loft for when we move, hopefully at some point this year.

We had a good look at all the options in JL, we had somethings we knew we wanted like Bluetooth but wasn’t that specific about brands etc, we looked at everything from Amazon Echos (we decided the speakers on those were crap), to the Roberts radios. I didn’t like the pod style speaker designs like the echos and wanted something I could just switch, Ben wanted something with Bluetooth. And ideally we didn’t want to spend over £200, we saw the PURE range and really liked the modern-retro fusion design of them and thought it would be nice and easy to wipe down being made of wood and plastic.

We decided not to get it as they weren’t on offer as we wasn’t desperate to get one, but after another visit later on in the day we spotted a clearance section nestled at the back – we found an ex-demo model in the colour we liked most and it was £30 off, it’s in perfect condition and has a long guarantee so it was fine for us so we snapped it up.

John Lewis Decorative Weave Bedding

I’d got to the point where I was bored of seeing a lot of the bedding in our room having had most of it since we moved into our home I was starting to fancy a change and have had my eye out on the range online and whilst I saw a few things I liked I felt like they were either not worth the money or Ben didn’t like them. I remember I did show this one to Ben online and it was rejected, but when we saw it on a bed in the store we both liked it. Strangely it wasn’t in the sale, but we happened to find a stray one in our size which was, so we managed to snag it for 40 instead of 70. It has a slightly textured feel in the top but the bottom side is very soft feeling, it’s already been washed and gone straight into our bed and I’m happy with our choice!

The retro/modern radio looks awesome, hope it lasts as long as your previous radio! Black Opium is on my to test in store list, it tends to be kept behind the counter though so I always forget to ask lol. I recently purchased the Oval Shadow brush (as well as a few others from the Bold Metals collection) and I like it for applying base shadows. It blends and packs shades on at the same time ๐Ÿ™‚

I picked the glam glow set up in space NK too after seeing the sizes! Boots had sold out but managed to grab it for the same price.

I love how the radio looks, perfect mix of modern and retro! Xx

Oh they had tonnes when I went in the next day! Maybe that initial Boxing Day rush wiped them out but they had loads left behind! I was tempted to get it from space nk to save venturing back to the madness of boots but really wanted to not spend money and use my points ๐Ÿ˜‚

I do the same with my boots points! Not sure what to get this year though!

I didnโ€™t feel like the sale was as extensive this year and that so much sold out instantly – I always try and stock up on Lancรดme mascaras and they were gone by the time I was online on Christmas Eve and in store the day after Boxing Day!

Looks like you scored a few awesome things during the holiday sale. I’ve only had the sample size of one of the Glam Glow products and it seemed really good!

Getting things on discounted prices with points is the best tactic! ๐Ÿ˜€
The RT eye set looks really useful. I agree, the holder looks dinky.
What a great score on that radio – it was fate, I tell you!

It is, especially as we don’t have any points redemption events here – there’s no better time to spend them IMO! It is a really small holder and it’s super plasticy looking. Not a fan of the handles on these either, that I can forgive since they’re not on display, but I don’t think I want to put that holder out anywhere to look at.
It was definitely fate, proving to be a good purchase already!

I’m not normally a big sales shopper – I just happened to be visiting friends the day after boxing day so ended up picking up a few bits!
