Giving My Brows the HD Treatment at Mishishi Spalding

I don’t know why but treating myself to beauty treatments, whether that be waxing or having my nails done always feels like such a luxury and it’s not something that I do very often, so I was happy to be invited by my hairdresser’s Mishishi, located in Spalding, Lincolnshire – to come along to their beauty department to try out the HD Brows treatment, which I’d never have thought to have done myself, although now, I might be hooked.

I’ve always had a little bit of a hatred for my brows – I’m not really blessed with any natural arch and I think over the past couple of years I’ve managed to get them to a good-ish place that created an arch without them becoming incredibly thin. but I’ve always seeked a more accentuated shape, and have toyed with the idea of having them micro bladed.

Because my brows are so dark, I find it always looks pretty obvious when they start to grow back in, so when I was asked after an initial visit to wait a month for an appointment, pluck free – it was a little daunting. But after just over a five weeks of growing them back in – I found that they wasn’t actually too bad and they hadn’t grown in as much as I’d expected them to, but you can see in the photos below just now little shape my brows have when left to their own devices.

Apologies for my hair in this post… I got quite windswept whist out shopping before going into the salon and it’s bugging me!

Before

I sat down with Emma to discuss what I wanted to achieve, as well as what could be realistically – I said to her that I’m aware that one brow sits higher than the other and have always been keen to get them to looking a bit more like sisters, not twins – or in my case what felt like cousins! I told her I knew I didn’t have much of an arch and didn’t have much expectations of trying to achieve one.

Emma explained the she felt like she could achieve more shape my taking some hairs from above (something I’ve never done on myself as I’ve never known where to start, and wouldn’t trust myself with tweezers!) as well as the obvious shaping needed below. I’d said I thought that shaping above was something that would help a lot with my brows but I’d always felt incapable and scared I would completely mess them up, and once my brows were mapped out she had said I would have

The HD Brows treatment is a combination of different tasks to give you a defined, but natural looking brow. The first step of process kicks off with a tint, I’ve never once tinted my brows, because naively I thought my brows are off black – I’m not going to be able to achieve anything difference, but it made them slightly darker, and gave them a glossier finish.

The first step of the shaping process saw Emma measuring and mapping out my brows, from where my arch should ideally be, as well as where my brow should stop and start (my brows got brownie points for starting and stopping where they naturally should). After that the treatment combines a mix of waxing, trimming, threading and plucking to give you refined sharp brows. what I liked was that the treatment was tailored for me, so I was asked if I really hated threading I could have asked them to skip that step.

I was handed a mirror between each step so I could see the difference each stage of the process was making, and given the opportunity to provide input. After I was happy with the shape and colour, I was talked through the different HD brows products and a combination of powders and the pencil was used to give the brows a natural, not overly defined finish.

I’m now about 4 weeks post having them done, and I can see this being a treatment that I decide to have again in future. If you’re going to be going for regular treatments you are meant to revisit every 4-6 weeks. I’m at the point now where the longer hairs and tufts at the top could do with trimming, and I’ve found the shape easy to keep on top of with tweezing, and I’m still getting compliments about my brow shape now.

I knew I wasn’t going to have time to come again before Christmas, but I will be letting them re-grow again for a visit in the new year.  I think the HD brow treatment is a great way to maybe get your brows on track if you feel like you’re stuck with a shape and you don’t know how to grow them out to the shape you want to achieve, prepare for some grizzly brows whilst you grown them out, but the pain of doing so is worth it, as the more hair and your natural shape that you have, the more area they have to work with.

Gorgeous brows! This is uncanny but I have a freckle/mole by my left eyebrow too. I’ve always thought a lot of pressure is put on eyebrows when in reality I can’t be bothered to keep up with any trends lol. I pluck them myself and they don’t look unbearable so I’m happy. I’m lucky that my brows are naturally thick/dark x

I’ve always thought I would have to keep up with it more than what I’d actually need to – but the more you have it done the longer you can go between appointments which is a plus! Yes I feel lucky too, the one thing I liked about having them done is I didn’t feel like I had to fill them in, use brow mascara etc.

That makes sense. Over the years I’ve noticed it gets longer in between when I need to pluck mine and the hairs don’t grow back as thick. Not having to use a brow product is a plus!

Great idea and your eye brows look fantastic! I sadly never have time for any beauty treatments and I just do everything myself 🙁 . This needs to change! Xx

The process sounds very methodical and tailored to you. I’ve been thinking about getting my brows tinted since they’re very fine and sparse. The results you got look so natural and refined! I always have brow envy when I see people with well defined brows… I cannot even LEAVE my house without brows applied.

Do it! I was surprised at the difference it made even with my dark brows! And the best part was after I felt like I didn’t have to do my brows, they looked really good without being filled in!

Your brows look amazing! As you know I find mine too thin and they need to be darkened a bit, so I neeeed to have this done x
