Look Incredible December 2017 – Review and Unboxing

After an impressive couple of months I was really looking forward to the Christmas Edition of Look Incredible to arrive. After a few months where we saw the box go up and down, it seemed like they’d found their footing and were back on track. I don’t know what the hold up was this month, as there was no customer notices but considering they took the money on the 1st of the month as always – it didn’t arrive until the 18th of the month, considering it normally arrives somewhere around the second Friday of the month it felt particularly late. I was holding out hope that it should be worth the wait…

As always, for those who aren’t aware – Look Incredible is a premium subscription box service, to which they have three tiers – I’m subscribed to the standard box at £25 per month, they have a deluxe box at £35 a month – and a bi-monthly Premium box at £65 a month. The box normally features 5 full size items from mostly mid-higher end brands – this month however is mostly drugstore/highstreet – which is fine if the product selection is right…

BareMinerals Ready Blush in The Whisper – £19.99

The highest value in this months box and I’m sure one that new subscribers will be happy to see, but this is the third pressed BM blush I’ve had in the box, one of which was very similar to this shade called Close Call in October 2016’s box, which was put in my giveaway box as whilst I loved the colour I have so many blushes and don’t wear them all that often, I have plenty for what I need. It’s a shame to see this product again, especially in a virtually identical shade to the last one that came.

No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara – £12

A repeat product – this was included in June 2016’s box and I already reviewed it here. I don’t love No7 as a line, and it’s becoming a more and more frequent brand in the box, I especially don’t love the mascaras and find them underwhelming. Whilst I don’t enjoy repeat products but they have shade variety I can cope, this is a disappointing no-no for me.

Sleek Gloss Me Trio – £14.97

This says it’s the Gloss Me Trio, but only one of the items is ‘Gloss Me’ the other two are ‘Matte Me’. The Gloss looks very pretty in the shade Phoenix Rising which is a really gorgeous deep berry red with a plummy sparkle – problem is I don’t wear gloss and I can’t see myself reaching for it very often so it’s a pointless keep for me. The other two shades in the Matte Me are Petal and Rioja Red, both of which I own, both of which I don’t love. In October 2017’s box we received a Sleek Set with a highlighter palette and a Matte Me liquid lip, so it’s another item that feels repetitive.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Duo in Shimmer Me Timbers – £12.99

Eh, I’ve heard really mixed things about the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line and have never wanted to spend money on it because it seems to be so hit and miss. I guess the good thing is I get to try it without spending any money on it, but the shade selection is just Bleh. It’s a sheer shimmery white shade that doesn’t look like from shade experience it’s going to translate well to the nails and will take atleast 3 layers. I’ll wear this, I’d be happier with its inclusion if it was a different coloured polish.

Florapy Anti Ageing Sheet Mask – £8.00

I’m not sure how I’m meant to treat this one, it wasn’t listed on the card so am I meant to be treating this as an extra bonus? Did they not decide. Florapy is a range I’ve seen about, but it’s not available in the UK apart from on the Look Incredible website. This is the saving grace of the box for me and is the only item that I feel like I’m interested in. The Calendula Sage sounds interesting to me, I just wish it was for targeting another problem rather than Anti-Ageing.

I think you can probably tell I’m quite disappointed in this box, I’m wondering whether the change of brands is a way to push people to the £35 subscription which I tried at the start of the year and wasn’t that keen on, however they do seem to have picked up the pace over the past few months. However it does feel like the Deluxe box is what the standard box used to be when I signed up for it almost 2 years ago. And the Bi-monthly box is even in the running to be considered – this month’s edition contained the Becca Apres-Ski Eyeshadow palette (current Limited Edition). All I say is another month like this and the standard box will be cancelled and I’ll weigh up who I’ll be trying next, I don’t feel like I got my £25 worth out of this box in the slightest, and it felt like a box of repeats.

What do you think of this month’s box?

I completely agree – that is a real dud box! I do like the Sally Hansen formula but like it you said, the shade is a dud! Xx

I was underwhelmed with mine too. I feel like they’re starting to include fewer high end brands!

They definitely are I’d noticed the shift a few months ago but it was 2 out of 5 products – this is 4 out of 5 and doesn’t compare with what I was first getting when I signed up. They have one more chance before I move on!

Thats such a shame its gone downhill! I dont understand why the sleek set is called the gloss me trio when its only one gloss as well! It is a beautiful shade though xxx

It does look a disappointing box for the money. I like the Sally Hansen nail polishes but they included such a dull shade which is a shame x

It was missing a star product this time for me! I don’t mind white nails but I tend to like them more in winter – I did end up trying it last night and 3 coats in and it was still patchy 👎🏼

I don’t like it when subscription boxes get repetitive. This one seems to be very underwhelming!

I’m not sure who’s up with December boxes as I was very disappointed with my Look Fantastic and BoxyCharm subscriptions too. I thought they would end the year with a bang but alas, both were disappointing.

I’d been thinking that Look Fantastic might be the one I replaced this one with but I backtracked and looked over the past few months and I think it’s on the downslide too! I have found one to try as a replacement but it’s only just launched so I’ll test it out before I talk about it!
