Bloggers Secret Santa

A few of my nearest and dearest blog friends (I shouldn’t call them blog friends as I talk to them more often than I do than a lot of my own family!) decided that we were going to do a secret santa between us, we swapped especially early thanks to Sophie jetting off to her next adventure for the future in Kuala Lumpur and we wouldn’t be seeing her again before Christmas, however she’s now back after deciding the abroad life is not for her!

So we had a budget set of £20 each and used an online generator to email us who our picks were, we all had one agreement – that we stayed away from the Jeffree Star Holiday collection (since we all wanted to buy something from that range) and we attempted not to buy any makeup in the meantime.

I hadn’t thought much about what I might each of the three recipients if I was to get them, apart from Molly who I immediately had an idea for – and oddly that’s who I got! We sat down for our regular Tapas and Makeup Tapas (which involves bags of stuff we swap if something’s the wrong shade for us/we’re not getting along with), and happend to sit in a perfect alignment of all having the person to our left being who we were going to gift to – and Sophie got me…

Sophie knew that the shade Rose Matters from Jeffree Star was one I had been coveting, as it was described by everyone when I pulled it out of it’s cardboard tube as ‘such a Rachael shade’, and they aren’t wrong this is my failsafe rose pink. It’s been one I’ve wanted since I got my first JS Velour liquid lip last October, but for some reason I always forget to buy it when the Beauty Bay sale rolls around. I’ve worn this a few times already and I can tell (once I’m done with that massive liquid lipstick comparison post that one day I’ll finish!) will be a shade I’ll get a lot of wear out of.

The second thing she gifted was the Liquid Chrome nail paint from Barry M – I’ve been loving a few Barry M polishes recently and I’ve not tried this formula from them yet. The shade is a blue-steel shade and it’s not one I’d normally be drawn to in the shop, I tend to stay away from more silvery tones as for some reason I’m never drawn to them, but I was glad to be gifted something outside of my norm as I don’t have anything like it! I’ve already worn this one and it looks super pretty on the nails and actually more flattering on my skintone than I was expecting to give it credit for- an it’s one I’ll happily be rewearing soon.

I absoltely love the two things Sophie picked for me, she knows me very well and I can’t wait to get around to wearing them both!

If you want to see what the I/the other girls, bought each other I’ll leave a link to each below – they’ll be posting theirs throughout the week.

Have you done a beauty Secret Santa before? What were your picks?

This is so nice! Glad you girls had fun. I haven’t tried the JS lipsticks but I’ve heard great things. Are they all matte formulas or does he have different ones?
