Bluesky Gel Polish CS29 Mulled Wine Swatch & Review

I’ve said a few times on the rare occasions I’ve reviewed nail polish over the past few months that I really haven’t been bothered with painting my nails very often, mainly because as soon as they’re done I’ve managed to chip them thanks to a real big re-jig, redecorate an reorganise of just about our entire house, so over the past month or so I’ve been forcing myself down the gel route so they last a little longer and there’s one colour I’ve been back to three times in row.

It’s the shade Mulled Wine (now Bluesky have fancy names – but was catchily named CS29 when it was released. I picked this up some time early in the year as I thought it might be a good contenter as a purple nail polish for my wedding day, but when it arrived it was evident that the online pictures and swatches of this lied and it was much more of a red, so up until November I don’t think it’s had any wear but the name Mulled Wine feels very appropriate for this stunning shade.

I have a lot of Blue Sky Gel polishes, infact 80% of the are Blue Sky ones and they’re the ones that I definitely prefer to go for and are usually my first port of call if I’m searching out a new shade. This one isn’t my favourite formula as it’s got a very weird runny areated feel which means I end up having to flash cure a couple of nails at a time to stop the gel pooling at the edges (flash cfure is putting the nails under the lamp for 10 to 20 seconds so it solidifies, but then you follow with a full cure once one hand is complete). It’s worth the pain of flash curing because the colour is really pretty and it’s pulled my semi-grinch like mood into a semi-festive mood over the past few weeks.

The colour is somewhere between a dark cranberry and a plum, personally it lays way more on the red side to me but it’s definitely not a pure red. Throughout the polish it’s densely scattered with micro silver glitter, but because the glitter isn’t huge chunks, or all different shades it feels a bit more subdued.

This polish has been wearing really well for me, I’ve had it on for two weeks at a time and I’ve just put it on for the third time, I’m going to try and opt for something a bit different next time I do them, but for now the obsession with this shade continues.

What shade are you currently loving for your nails?
