Magnitone Barefaced Gets a Festive Makeover

It’s getting to that time of year that I start thinking about what I’m going to buy people for Christmas, as a family and in my friend group we don’t all tend to all have big lists of things that we specifically want. Personally that’s something I prefer as I really like thinking about what to get people for them. The Magnitone products I’ve already reviewed I’ve mentioned would make great gifts for a beauty fanatic that has everything, and their latest edition has had a limited edition makeover making it an even more special gift to give.

The latest edition of the festive makeover brush comes in two different colours, a gorgeous rose gold and the one I received is called Serenity Blue. The finish of the normal barefaced brushes are a matte flat colour these have a lovely shimmering finish to them which make them feel a tad more special, but in terms of the functionality of the brush, the settings are the same, with two different functions for cleansing and massaging. The brush turns on for minute at a time, with a beep every 20 seconds which helps you make sure you’re cleansing areas of your face thoroughly and evenly.

The difference with this particular kit is that it comes with an extra head, named ‘The Stimulator’, sounds a bit naughty, right? This is a bit different to the rest of the brushes in the range in that instead of being longer hairs it has short rounded rubber bristles which is designed for toning and skin stimulation. There’s a few different ways in which you can use this I’ve found, it works well for working with creams and serums to give the skin an extra luxurious treat and pick me up, what I like about this head is that it takes your Magnitone brush from just being a cleansing tool to being something to use more throughout your skincare regime.

I personally really like using it with my favourite cleanser (Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Soap), which has soft seeds and pods in a thick green cream, whilst this cleanser works beautifully with the ‘normal’ bristle heads, the seeds and pods can be really awkward to wash out and get all stuck at the base of the head, with this it just rises out with ease.

I feel like more so than with the brushes, the two different functions that the cleansing brushes have are more noticeable feeling on the skin and thanks to the shorter rounded nubs the massage mode in particular feels particularly soothing on the skin. I feel like I really need to be using this on a longer term basis to report back as to whether the toning effects work on this as in the two weeks I’ve had it there’s been no real difference as of yet, but the vibrations are certainly more noticeable. The skin does feel extra plumped up when I use it with an intense moisturiser or serum.

The Stimulator is available to buy individually so if you already have a Magnitone brush and want to bolt on a new head then you can do. I think this also makes a good idea as a stocking filler for someone who may already have and love a Magnitone cleansing brush. Other replacement head packs come with two heads but due to the fact this is solid rubber rather than bristles that will get worn out and need replacing, this comes with just one. It’ feels very sturdy and doesn’t strike me as anything that will wear out, so as long as you have your brush, you should be good with this.

This set has an RRP of £89.99, but I’ve seen it available on a few places on offer online for as little as £50, superb value for money and a good price point for Christmas gifting too. You can find the Magnitone Limited Edition on their website.

What is this like compared to the clarisonic cleanser?? Just curious as I am looking into getting a cleanser and I’m still new to doing research on all the different options.

I’ve not tried the Clarisonic directly to compare but it has the same kind of functionality and is a hell of a lot cheaper too (I’ve just seen that they’re on offer for £50 this weekend!). Clarisonic seem to have a few more options when it comes to brush head styles, but they’re a bit pricey too, magntione ones are 16 per two pack Clarisonic can be anywhere from 20-25 per one.

They’re on offer this weekend for 50 with this kit, they were on QVC in the normal packs a few weeks ago for 35! Complete bargain!
