Look Incredible October 2017

The excitement of the ASOS Beauty Box had me only anticipating my favourite piece of mail for the month, so I was really happy to walk into work on Monday morning to find the box ready and waiting for me to brighten up my week. I made myself a tea, sat down and took a peek inside the box to see what awaited me.

As always a quick introduction on Look Incredible for those who aren’t aware – they feature 5 full size beauty items each month for £25 including postage – it used to be all high end brands but they are starting to mix it up a bit more I’ve noticed as the months are passing. They also have a deluxe box which has 4 slightly more premium items in (this months had Too Faced Shadow Insurance, A Laura Geller Primer – that’s come in the standard box more than once before – Skin Doctors Night Cream and a Helena Rubenstein Plumping Lip Balm), I’ve always been a bit let down for the £35 price tag when I’ve compared the two and for now I’m sticking with the standard.

For the first time this month I’ve seen that they’re now doing a £65 ‘Secret’ box which comes every other month – I’ll be interested to see what this one is all about – the first one looks promising, but has already sold out – for £65 I’d definitely need to see another few examples of these before I’d consider subbing or switching my subscription.

Onto this month’s box…

The first thing that juped out at me was the Living Proof Full Thickening Cream (RRP £14) – in the 18 months I’ve been subscribed to this box, this is the first hair product that’s arrived, something I’ve personally quite liked as haircare is a very personal thing in my opinion and there’s such a large scope of what works for one doesn’t work for another. More so than skincare where there’s more ‘safe’ products like moisturisers, scrubs and makeup removers that will work for most. I can’t decide whether to keep this or pass it on or put it in my giveaway box, I do really want to try more from Living Proof but I rarely use Thickening Creams, so I’m a bit torn!

Next up what grabbed my eye was a Clinique Box, mainly because it said Nail Lacquer on it and I’m not sure I ever knew that they did polish! I’m not sure what it is with Look Incredible, but I always seem to get brown shades in the box and this one is no different, I’m intrigued to see what the formula of their polishes are like. For reference, the shade I received was ‘Do Not Disturb’ (RRP £11), the bottle isn’t very impressive looking for a higher end brand I must say, I wouldn’t be drawn to these in the store which is why I might never have realised they did polish!

Something I’m always happy to see is products by The Body Shop, as well as body scrubs so naturally this was a fantastic inclusion for me! I’ve not tried anything from the Shea Line before so I’m looking forward to putting this to the test (RRP £15) I ran out of Body Scrub last month and haven’t gotten around to opening any of the coffee scrubs I’ve got in the sidelines waiting, so this can be popped straight in the shower.

Lord and Berry is a brand which we’ve seen appear more frequently in Look Incredible boxes over the past few months, and it’s a brand which can be pretty hit and  miss for me. This is a lipliner in the shade ‘Bare’ (RRP £11) – a nude brown colour which should work with just about anything.

Sleek Hypnotic Highlight Set. This is definitely last year’s Christmas Gift Set Packaging, I remember seeing it in Boots. One product I’ve meant to pick up for the longest time from Sleek is their Solstice Highlighting Palette, so I’m so so happy to now have it. The set also contains one of their liquid lipsticks in the shade Birthday Suit, I already own a few of these and I’m really not keen on the formula so it’s one for the giveaway pile as I know lots of people love them.

I do really like this box, but I can’t help but feel like the brands that are included are becoming more high street based. The first few box I received contained items from Smashbox, Urban Decay, MAC, Bare Minerals and over the past few months cheaper brands are starting to make an appearance, I hope it’s something that won’t start to be a steady decline for all brands in the standard box.

I recently cancelled my Beaty subscriptions, and was honestly struggling to consider whether or not to join another one. I am tempted now! Great post๐ŸŒŸ

This is the only one I’m subscribed to currently, I don’t like many any more but do pick up the odd one box here and there if I like the contents!

Shea is one of my favourite lines from The Body Shop, the scent is incredible! I hope you enjoy the scrub ๐Ÿ™‚ The Sleek highlighting palette looks nice too, I’ve heard of lots of people who are a fan x

I almost feel like it could be a gender neutral scent, I bet it smells really good on a man lol

It’s a lovely box with great products, too bad their pick in brands is declining and using more affordable brands. Let’s hope they will keep their quality high ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t mind the mix, I just hope it doesn’t transition in the next year to being fully high-street, it’s not what I signed up for, and nor is it as good value as it used to be! x

Aah boxes either put in repeat items, mini products or cheaper products. I was sad as Tili got more popular it was full of minis๐Ÿ˜ This box looks pretty nice though. But I know what you mean, you want the most expensive items in these boxes so you’re getting good value x

Have you seen Tili are doing an advent calendar?
I think if they’d not set the bar so high at the start then it would have been less noticeable, but I definitely feel like there’s been a gradual decline in brand ‘status’.

I agree. They started so great that it’s more noticeable the products are going downhill. No I didn’t! Does it look good?? X

Have only been able to see an overview of it so far, not what’s listed specifically, has decent brands in it and isn’t a bad price so I’m going to take a look once I can find a proper list somewhere!
