Aussie Wash & Blow In A Can Review

Aussie Wash & Blow In A Can - Dry Shampoo

I don’t think I’ll need to let many people know about my love for the original Miracle dry shampoo from Aussie has proved impossible to beat, despite me trying just about every new launch and brand I’ve seen in the drugstore. But when I saw this new release from Aussie – Aussie Wash & Blow In A Can – I was curious as to whether Aussie could beat Aussie…

More so than any other recently, when I featured this on my instastories, lots of people said they wanted to see the review so I’ve prioritised it over the last 10 days to really put it to the test to let you know my thoughts as soon as possible. I pretty much know with the first use or two whether it’s going to be a dry shampoo I can get along with, or whether it’s going to be one I’ll begrudge using between washes.

Primarily when it comes to dry shampoo the thing I want it to first and foremost do is make that hair look less greasy and preferably feeling clean too. Dry shampoos that are texturisers are not dry shampoos in my opinion, they’re styling products – but if it can do both then it becomes a nice added bonus. I can find texturising products often quite dirty and dry feeling on the hair and is often not what I want when I’m trying to freshen up the roots.

When I found this in my local Sainsbury’s whilst doing the food shop I was surprised to see it, being quite the frequenter of the aisle of dry shampoos in Boots I hadn’t spotted it at all, looking it up it launched some time in June – although I’m not sure whether that was also the UK. The only scent available in my store was Kool Kiwi Berry, but looking it up they have scents in peach, tropical, sweet berries – as well as a ‘Clean Supreme’ and ‘Boost Me Up’ ones in the same Wash + Blow in a Can range.

The packaging of this range is bright and punchy coloured, whilst I like the original packaging of the originals, the silver brushed metal background provides a nice clean backdrop for the coloured writing and pattern. I was excited to see what a Kool Kiwi was going to smell like, and to be honest it wasn’t as strong and sweet as I was expecting, it’s fresh, light and fruity but wasn’t as powerfully scented as a Batiste spray a as I was thinking it might be.

This is more powdery in texture compared to the original which has a more sticky fibre type base, this one does have a slight white cast when it’s first applied but brushes out easily.

I have mixed feeling about this dry shampoo, anything that can make my hair look fresh for a second day gets a tick, anything to take me to day three hair even bigger tick, and day four? Basically unheard of when it comes to my prone to oily root hair. So the fact this gets my hair to day four without needing to be washed you’d think would need a full blown declaration of love.

Whilst on the second day of hair it does mattify the hair back down to looking fresh, it doesn’t feel as clean as what the original Aussie does. Days Three and Four manage to take my hair to passable, I wouldn’t say it looks clean, it definitely has that on the verge of needing to be washed look about it, but it does transform appearances to passable.

I’m comparing to the original which will give me the appearance of freshly washed locks for the first three days then needs to be washed, where as this one is for the first two with passable hair on the second two. As someone who tends to go two to three days between washes it makes me think that the original is better as a dry shampoo for me, however maybe this would be worth keeping in backup for days when day 4 hair might creep in if I’ve been unable to find time to wash my hair.

So that covers the wash element of this, but what about the blow?

What I’d say about Aussie Wash & Blow In A Can is that it does add a bit of texture but due to it being a pretty thin and light powder it doesn’t add a lot, I can notice the difference over other dry shampoos, but I feel like the effects of it leave very little to actually comment on. One one hand I prefer that to something that’s going to completely retexurise the hair and make it feel less clean, but I doubt I’d be commenting on the fact that this had any extra volumising effects otherwise as the results are just so subtle.

Whilst I’ll use this up I’m not 100% sure that I’ll repurchase this unless maybe I saw it on offer and discounted over other options. It’s not the worst I’ve tried, but Aussie Wash & Blow In A Can is not within the best ones either. I’ve just seen that Boots have started stocking the Klorane Dry Shampoo which I’ve heard amazing things about for years from bloggers across the pond, at £8 it’s pricey for a dry shampoo, but if it can tame my grease prone tresses it’ll be a winner.

I’ve never tried any of the Aussie Dry Shampoos but I’ve been using Tresemme’s and I really like that one a lot. I’ve used the Klorane one as well. That one is really good! Xx

The scent sounds great! I didn’t find the original worked for me, so this one might be better for me if it’s more powdery😊 x

I’ve been a die hard fan of batiste for years now but I think I might need to try out a few different brands including Aussie
