ASOS Beauty Box – October 2017

It was only a matter of time before ASOS got themselves into the Beauty Box game. I saw the box online last month and whilst I thought the selection was nice, not everything in it was completely my bag, I thought it was a one off until this month I was looking in their new in section in beauty (I’ve been stalking a particular Stila set daily and waiting for it to come in). This one was much more up my street and had some items I was already wanting to try.

The box isn’t a subscription and nor does it seem to launch at a particular time in the month, given this is only the second box I guess we’ll see what happens with it going forward. But as it’s ASOS there’s no where to sign up for notifications that a new one has gone live at this moment in time, so you have to rely on being eagle eyed. You can see the contents of the box before you buy which makes it a good option for people who either hate surprises, or like to know what they’re buying and don’t like many beauty boxes for that reason.

Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip liquid lipstick in ASOS Red
(RRP £16.00)

The major factor for me to order this box was that I really wanted to try the Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips, I’d told myself I didn’t need another formula for my comparison, but at £16 normally, given this whole box was just £12 it became an offer too good to refuse. In an exclusive to ASOS colour… ‘ASOS Red’, a classic blue toned red.

Pureology Strength Cure Shampoo and Conditioner – 2 x 50ml Samples
(RRP £20.50 each for 250ml Bottles)

Pureology is a line I’ve heard nothing but good things about and had been wanting to try for quite some time. My hair at the moment is feeling pretty dry and is in need of a cut – I haven’t had it done since pre-wedding and whilst I wait a few weeks for that to happen now might be a good time to give it a trial and see just how much of a difference it can make on brittle hair in need of a good chop rather than on freshly cut locks.

BOD Everyday Boost Body Sorbet
(RRP £14.99)

Not a brand that I’d ever heard of, but had me curious as I really like the Body Shop Body Sorbets, so I’m hoping this is similar. Reading up on the brand it promises to have the same effect as spanx, that’s a bold claim for a body product – I’ll definitely be reporting back on this one so keep your eyes peeled!

It’s Skin Power 10 GF Moisture Serum – 10ml Sample
(RRP £12 for 30ml)

Another brand I’ve not heard of, but from the K-Beauty sphere it’s an interesting inclusion in the box. Looking up this it describes itself as being for dry irritated skin, which isn’t me, but I do have quite dehydrated skin despite being oily and tend to like a moisturising serum. I’m going to do a bit more reading on this and decide whether I think it will work for me, or whether it might be better destined for the giveaway pile instead.

Alpha-H Clear Skin Daily Moisturiser
(RRP £23 for 30ml)

Last up is from Alpha H, a brand I’ve never really given enough attention to but people love this. Weirdly I can’t find this singularly on the ASOS website, so the price of this is from a different site (Beauty Bay, where they list it as exclusive?). Glycolic Acid works very well for me and having just finished one up, with another from Alpha H ready and waiting to go it might be a perfect time to combine them for trialling and reviewing together.

Available on the website here, ASOS’s introduction to the beauty box market seems really promising. I think they’d make fantastic gifts for people too, especially coming into Christmas – at £12 this box is a complete steal IMO, worth over £66 with a good chunk of full size products and generous sized samples!

What do you think of ASOS entrance to the beauty box market?

When I’ve browsed beauty on ASOS briefly they have a selection of brands so a beauty box seems like a great addition to their site! You are so right when you talk of value for money, I wonder if the boxes will get more expensive as they take off or get popular and this could be an introductory thing. That lip colour is beautiful x

It is a good next step, they could also start including some small accessories in it too if they wanted to go another step further! Free international delivery too so good option for everyone!

Definitely! I had a look at the box and it is around $25. You can’t even get some foundations or eyeshadow palettes for that price here!

That looks like a great box for the price! Target puts out there beauty box here and it’s kind of like the same thing. You don’t know exactly when it will be available and you get to see the contents before you buy. Xx

Interesting. i just bought one of those lippies of Asos because like you I just wanted to try it. I got one of the colors they had on sale so was limited in color selection. That red looks nice. I love beauty boxes so I’m glad Asos is getting in on the game as the ship worldwide for free. most of the time even if the box ships worldwide its not worth it for me due to the high shipping cost.

What do you think of the formula? I wore it for the first time on Saturday and definitely need to wear it another time or two to make up mind!

Interesting, I’ll be keen to see if they keep this standard up.

I had no idea ASOS even did beauty boxes! That Lip Whip looks gooood, will be paying attention to that one now, for sure. Also would love to hear what you thought of the Pureology hair products, my hair is very temperamental and can get so dry/brittle especially after colouring. Desperately need some TLC! xx

I feel that £12 for all that is such a good deal!!! Specially considering the actual worth xxx

It’s not bad and I like that it’s really well rounded, skincare, haircare and makeup – not too focused on either one so there’s something for everyone! xxx

I can’t believe how affordable these boxes are – looking forward to hearing how you get on with the lip whip as I’ve wanted to try BB for so long! x

I want to try out Beauty Beakerie too! Particularly their cranberry colour. My friend raves about it. It was still on after KFC (her lips). I was so impressed.
