Polaar Genuine Lapland Hand Cream Review

Polaar Genuine Lapland Hand Cream

I popped the Polaar Genuine Lapland Hand Cream in my Autumn edition of Products I’m Trying to Use Up (my seasonal version of Project Pan which I do throughout the year), after being seriously slack with using hand cream this year I decided by commiting to use one up, albeit quite a large tube that it would hopefully get be back on track and into the routine of using hand cream again. Luckily the commitment has been paying off and over the past six weeks or so the tube has done more than collect dust on my bedside table.

I happened to have not one, but two of these tubes in my collection, neither of which I’ve bought – both of which arrived in a My Little Box two years ago, and a second one arrived this time last year also in My Little box and other than the odd squeeze here and there it’s been practically unused for two years, whilst the duplicate headed to my giveaway box.

Polaar was a brand I’d heard little about prior to My Little Box, the cream ‘La Veritable Creme De Laponie’ – or The Genuine Lapland Cream to you and me turns out to have it’s fair share of fans, as does the brand. When it comes to hand cream I’m usually quite happy to stock up in my local Body Shop and pick up ones which are on offer for as cheap as I can get them, but this one comes with a relatively hefty price tag at £14+ (16.90 Euros).

They go for a pretty elaborate description on the packaging too ‘Lapland an enchanted place that brings back our childhood memories and keeps our imagination alive…’ having never been to Lapland they’re speaking for themselves. The cream is described as being concentrated by arctic berries I was hoping this was going to smell wonderfully fresh and fruity, but it doesn’t really have a scent at all.

The texture of this is pretty thick and has a very slight gel cream texture. It describes itself as ultra-fine which I personally don’t agree with and it’s very easy to squeeze out a tiny bit too much and end up having to rub it into the arms as well as hands, the cream is thick and isn’t too quickly absorbed, however it doesn’t feel greasy at all.

I really like the packaging of the Polaar Genuine Lapland Hand Cream, it’s nothing fancy or particularly special, Whilst it looks like the awkward type of metal packaging that creases and wastes product by trapping it in the folds, it isn’t and is a soft plastic that instead lets you shuffle every last drop of product out of the tube. The design is simple, laplandy (defintely a verb), and gets me into the reluctant Christmas spirit.

Is it worth the extra cash? No not really IMO, When I compare it it’s a very similar size to say the Zoella Hand cream which comes in at £6 and I don’t think it’s been any more effective. This has been a god send on making my hands softer, and my cuticles have gone from dry to almost non-existent, however I’ve been such a bad routine with hand cream anything would have made a difference, and it’s never been an item that I’ve seen as worth splashing a lot of cash on, there’s good and bad hand creams – and there’s never been one I would say is above average its worth spending extra for.

What are your favourite hand creams?Pol

I have a hard time spending a lot of money on hand creams when there are so many decent, affordable options! My recent favorite has been Soap & Glory’s Hand Food, although I do not like the original scent. Still worth it for the cream, it’s worked well for me :]

I’ve been awful with hand creams. I feel like half of them don’t help my hands feel too much better. If you find a great, cheaper option let me know😊 x

You’ve just reminded me *LOL* Mine is definitely collecting dust. You must have so many creams from MLB. Perhaps a new series for you? Using up stuff from the box. I don’t normally use body lotion or hand cream. This one is a real challenge for me. Glad to hear that you quite like this one though.
