Airbrush Finish Foundation – Blend Up by Magnitone

Magnitone Blend Up Foundation Brush

I’m sure a lot of you will have seen me promo-ing this brush a lot over the past couple of days. When I arrived home from London last weekend an unexpected parcel was waiting for me as part of my ambassadorship with Magnitone, I knew something was on it’s way soon, I knew it was new and completely different for the brand, but I was ecstatic when I opened it to find it was a makeup brush, but not just any brush – the Blend Up by Magnitone.

Pegged as the world’s most advanced brush, there’s a reason I’ve been happy to shout about it’s launch this week – because spoiler, it’s incredible. Let’s start with the basics, the packaging of the outer box is stunning with the holo detail being really striking to my magpie eye. The Blend Up by Magnitone brush comes in two colours, white and an off black grey – both with a rose gold accent details. To hold the packaging of this is high quality, and well made. The brush, like it’s cleansing sister from the brand, just has one button to control, whilst featuring a charging slot at the bottom which lets the product charge up to hold 1000 minutes of charge (let’s say 5 minutes a day, that’s 200 days of application) – that’s quite a lot if you think about it for just a 2 hour charge time!

There are other brands which have a similar concept with heads that swap onto their cleansing  brushes, and as much as theres an appeal to just needing one gadget, for me it’s more of a turn off. I’d be forever sitting down to do my makeup and running to the shower room (downstairs in literally the opposite corner of the house) to swap over to my makeup head upstairs, and then vice versa when it come to shower time. I’d much rather it just stays in once place with me and I don’t have to constantly be unimpressed with myself for it not being in the right place at the right time.

I’m sure you’re wondering how much this is? And at £70 at first glance you’re thinking how much? I’m NGL, I kinda did at first glance too. You can easily spend £30 on a good buffing brush, and when it comes to sponges, you throw them away every few months – over a year I’m sure I’d soon spend £70 on blending brushes and sponges – and all of a sudden that price doesn’t seem as crazy for the technology that’s also behind it. The similar competitor brand for this starts at £125 for the actual brush, then a further $35 (+Taxes and shipping, it’s not available in the UK!) – not so bad after all ey?

The bristles with this are made with synthetic Antibacterial Biomaster Fibres, which I’m pleased to report clean incredibly easy, I’ve been using with my spot brush cleanser every other day and the product easily just slips of the bristles – and deep cleaning with the cleaning mode function in between too. The texture of the bristles has meant that the brush is quick to dry, and is fully dry and ready to use by the next morning.

So far, I couldn’t be more impressed with the performance of this, as far as foundation is concerned I’ve just tried it with my new Fenty foundation so far as I love the paired together (so much so I haven’t gotten around to trying the foundation without this brush either). Vibrating 200 times per second the brush as you can imagine makes buffing product into the skin incredibly quick and easy, you don’t need to press hard into the skin and I’ve found the lighter handed I am the more of an airbrush finish it provides. I’ve found putting foundation directly onto my face gives the most coverage and wastes the less product. They also suggest putting foundation directly onto the brush for a sheerer finish, which I can confirm is the effect it gives.

I’ve also tried the Blend Up by Magnitone for concealer and using it with the cream products in my Urban Decay Shapeshifter palette. and not once have I not liked it yet. I’m yet to try this with any powder products, whilst it does work with them – having just one head means I can’t swap between the two. The brush comes with the SmoothBlend head, but on launch day there will also be other heads available, including a ‘BuffBlend‘ and a ‘FeatherBlend‘ Brush – I’m particularly interested in the feather option as it looks like it would be great for powder, particularly blushes.

The Blend Up by Magnitone is launching on the 1st October… Today, and it will be shipping internationally too, you can find it on the website here if you want to find out more information!

Have you stepped into the world of electronic makeup tools yet?

I donโ€™t know if I could handle something that intense for foundation application, but kudos to you for trying it!

Whilst it vibrates a lot a second, because of that it doesn’t feel intense at all! glides across the skin so quickly you can’t even notice! Wouldn’t describe it as intense at all! xx

I think it would be so much fun to try this brush out. But to be honest I can’t get myself to spend that much money on a makeup brush :/

I would have said the same before I bought it, now if I lost it I could see myself rebuying quickly – the finish is like nothing else I’ve ever managed to achieve!

Sounds fun to try out, but not sure if I could spend that much on a brush, might stick to my beauty blenders! But lovely review and the results are great!

Thank you! I don’t think it’s that bad value personally, paying for the technology behind it, and I throw ยฃ10 sponges away every few months so doesn’t seem that bad to me, it is a lot to spend all at once though! xx

True, I guess it is good for the price really! I’ll look into it more!

It looks really great! But I think I can get the same finish for less <3

Potentially, this does make easy work of it though! I’ve tried the same foundation with a sponge this morning and found it harder to get as much coverage with the same amount of product
