Look Incredible Standard Box Review – September 2017

It’s been a while since I resisted the urge to peek at Look Incredible’s contents before it arrived on Instagram. When I was subbed to both My Little Box and Look Incredible I’d always pick one to keep a secret and one I’d let my temptation give in and have a peek at it before it arrived. This time my box seemed to arrive more prompt than normal, and before I’d had the chance to get itchy feet it was already here.

Last month saw probably my most disappointing Look Incredible box since I subbed at the start of last year, I was hoping it was only going to be up from there, and luckily, I love this month’s box and it’s back on track. For those who aren’t aware Look Incredible is a premium beauty box subscription, they do two boxes – the standard which is what I subscribe to at £25, and the deluxe at £35, which I’ve compared in the past here. For the most part I’ve felt like I’ve liked what’s included in the standard box more/as much as what’s in the deluxe box (although I’ve not seen this month’s yet). Both include full size products from high end brands, and most of the time it tends to be 5. This time it’s already quite unusual as there’s 2 skincare items included, often the box is 4+ items of makeup.

First up I was really pleased to see this, My Face Mask Friday stash is running low of not sheet masks to review so I’m glad to have another one, especially as I have no clay masks currently in my collection and they tend to be great for oily skin. This is the Bliss Multi-Faceted Clay Mask (RRP £28), described as a flexible clay mask that helps correct six visible signs of ageing. With Quartz, Glycolic Acid, Jojoaba Oil and Detoxifying Carbon, this sounds like a great all rounder that will mosisturise, exfoliate and purify the skin. I can’t wait to give this one a try!

Next up is a nail kit from Ciate with their Denim Manicure Kit (RRP £8.99) – I’ve grumbled about the inclusion of these in the past as Ciate haven’t made kits like these in years, but it’s been a while since one was last seen in the box so I can semi forgive them. I hope this is usable as the actual polish looks as if it’s completely separated and it’s going to need a good shake. I’m going to get this out and see if a shake mixes it back up again and pop it in my giveaway pile if so because I know it’s not something I’m going to use.

Next up another face mask, this time in the form of a sheet mask. This is the Aloe Vera Sheet Mask from Masque Bar, definitely a brand I’ve seen around, but not heard much about or tried myself. The Aloe Mask is described as moisturising, with Collagen to Plump and Vitamin E to nourish. At a RRP of £7.50 for one sheet mask I have high expectations of it’s performance, I’m going away this weekend and may take it with me as a pre-party skin treat!

Next there’s a Plumping Lip Gloss in the shade Diva from Bare Minerals (RRP £17), now I’m traditionally not much of a gloss girl, but something about this colour in the tube looks really intriguing to me – so I’m going to look up swatches of this online and decide whether it’s one for me or one for the giveaway pile. I’m sure this is a nice change for some subscribers as quite often lip products they feature are lipsticks and liquid lipsticks and I’m sure for some they’ll be pleased to see this included.

Last up joint star of the show for me is a palette from Coastal Scents – the Fall Festival palette (RRP £14) features 12 stunning shades, with wearable colours with a few neutrals mixed in. There’s a good matte transition shade in this, as well as matt-ish black shade for the outer corner. This looks really pretty, I love the shades and can’t wait to give it a go. Also the pans pop out and the palette itself feels really nice quality.

One thing I’ve always said about Look Incredible is that they’re not always great at product rotation, sometimes you see three mascaras three months in a row, or two lip products in a box, and this box is a good example of that with two face masks. Not that I’m displeased to see either, but it’s worth noting if you’re thinking of subscribing. It’s never bothered me enough in almost 2 years of subscription.

That’s it folks! What do you think of this months box? With the exception of the nail kit this box is a hit with me, particularly the mask and the eyeshadow palette!

I actually really love the colours in that shadow palette but agree about the nail varnish – denim isn’t really a “trend” at the moment either so the inclusion of it isn’t really for me! Xx

Looks like a very lovely box! Not really a fan of the colour of that nail varnish though! Denim nails are not my thing!

No I have a very similar colour from Barry M, and I don’t reach for that one at all, so I’m not going to be keeping this one. Hopefully I can find someone else who will love it! x

I think this looks a good box. I know what you mean though, if you’re not a face mask person you’ve got two in one box x

I can forgive them as they don’t include much skincare usually, but sometimes they can include two lip products and I can understand why some people might feel it can be a bit repetitive at times!

What a palette! Definitely the highlight of the whole box – I can’t wait to read the review ^^

I’ll get working on it! Need to snap some photos of it first, light wasn’t on my side when I photographed these just before it went dark, so still not even swatched!

I got that palette a few years ago. I really need to play with it more. It’s quite nice though and I like the pans pop out so it’s “refillable” in a sense (they sell all the shades separately in the Hot Pot line).
