Face Mask Friday #42 – Wow Sheet Mask

Face Mask Friday #42 – Wow Sheet Mask

If there was ever a mask I was saving for a special occasion it was this one, I got the Wow Sheet Mask in a beauty box last summer, and it’s been lingering in my collection ever since. I was feeling a bit down a couple of weeks ago and raided my collection to give myself some me time, and I decided despite it not being a special occasion, I needed some special measures.

The reason I’ve been keeping the Wow Sheet Mask aside is the price-tag, this is one pricey sheet mask and by far the most expensive one use mask I’ve tried and I won’t ever plan on spending that much on one again myself (gratefully sent to me, or in beauty boxes gets the go ahead though). This baby is $20 and is apparently loved by women across the globe, and this is quite a global mask, Made in California, by a Swiss company and imported to a place on Harley Street in London.

The high price tag of course means that it comes with high expectations, and I followed the instructions to the letter to make sure that I got the best results out of the mask. This comes in two separate gel sheets which were a complete fiddle to get off the plastic backing, the texture of the mask meant it just folded back on itself and was completely floppy, and it’s general wet nature meant it just slid all over the place, you can see from my application picture (which I’m trying to include for lols in all my face masks going forward, you may have noticed them in more recent ones!).

You can see the texture of the mask below. For the first 5 minutes this feels very wet, and within 5 minutes it feels kind of dry but sticky. If you’re a sheet mask wander *new term* (definition: someone who walks around the house wearing a mask and doesn’t sit down and take half an hour), then this isn’t for you it had a tendency to keep peeling away at the edges and I found myself permanently pushing it back in place.

Looking at the ingredients list of this it gives good idea as to where the cost of the mask comes from, with Collagen and Peptides high up on the list It’s Aqua Gel formula is activated by skin temperature and allows the anti-aging ingredients to reach the deep layers of the skin. Sadly I do worry whether I was the right target market for this as the results were disappointing, after removing the serum behind again felt a bit sticky and despite massaging it in the best I could I felt like it was sitting on my skin, not sinking in. My skin within an hour didn’t even feel softer than before, let alone looking any visibly different to how it previously ingredients. Whilst I was having a little moan at my eye wrinkles (from being super lazy and not using eye cream for months) on Instagram stories, my oily complexion so far has been keeping me well away from any other wrinkles at the ripe ol’ age of 27 and I have a feeling this was meant for someone older and maybe I should have roped in Helpless Mama to give this one a whirl for me, but I’d have expected to see at least a softer complexion if nothing else so the price tag just seemed a bit too high.

What’s the most expensive mask you’ve tried?

This had me cracking up when I saw the first photo of yourself with the mask on! I am totally a face mask wander — cannot sit still, so looks like this one would have been out of the question. Ha! I was hoping it was going to have some miraculous results. Darn.

I’m sorry to hear this didn’t work well for you. That’s a bummer! At least you could try it out and not waste you money on it. Xx

Glad I read this before trying!! Might save me $$ for something else, then.

I tried this one and really didn’t like it, found that it slid everywhere and didn’t do a lot for my skin

I am a sheet mask wander too! Lol🤣😂 I reckon the SK-II was the most expensive one that I’ve tried. Utter disappointment. Their toner did way better than their mask. It was ridiculous.

I know I’ve had something from SK-II before but I can’t remember what, I don’t very often splash out on skincare, Kiehl’s is as pricey as I like to get!

I’ve tried this one too and thought it was nice but not worth the money in my mind. Did like the feel of it though! xx

Aww shame you didn’t get on with it. They advise to pop it on and leave for 10minutes, after that you can move around freely. Seems to take time to settle in. Perfect if you have time to chill whilst you wait for the initial period. Good review xx
