What I’ve Been Buying – August

After saying I’ve not got plans to buy much after my No Buy, I have had a few successful shopping trips. Whoops. I did manage to get a few good steals!

MAC Brave

I’ve finally gotten around to repurchasing MAC Brave, which you may have seen on my instastories over the past weekend. A lot of you will already be familiar with the story behind this, and I’ll be saving it for a MAC Brave vs MAC Brave post which I’m already working on. But I’m down to my last little nub of my favourite lipstick and wanted to compare a new version against an old one! That post is coming up very soon, hopefully next week if the light is good enough to get pictures!

Botanics Hibiscus Micellar Water and Face Scrub

I saw that the Boots Botanics range had been given a bit of a face-lift and I was inrigued enough to actually grab some bits. My Micellar water has gone AWOL (I’m sure it’ll turn up now I’ve bought another) and I’m on my last little bit of face scrub before I’ve finished all mine up, so I took advantage of the buy one get one free offer they had running on the already affordable range.

Dose of Colours Liquid Lipstick in Berry Me 2

So far this month I’ve worn a different liquid lipstick every day, all in the name of my huge liquid lipstick comparison post, and there was one more brand and formula I wanted to add to the mix, and that was Dose of Colours Liquid Lipstick’s. I know this brand and formula has a huge following for liquid lipsticks and I wanted to try one. I picked up the shade Berry Me 2 (and resisted getting a rose pink, which since getting out all my liquid lipsticks I’ve realised I have way too many of), and it’s a gorgeous bright pink purple shade. I almost bought a Jouer Liquid Lipstick and Beauty Bakerie one but decided to draw the line at this one as I didn’t want to spend £55 on three!

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

The Born this Way foundation and concealer has it’s fair share of admirers, I’ve heard mostly positive things about the line so when I saw the Concealer at TK Maxx I swiped it up. Reduced from it’s RRP at £20 to £12.99 it was a great price to give it a try at, They only had the shade medium, which is a good shade for me as a spot concealer, but a bit too dark for under the eyes etc.

Nudestix Moisture & Clean Up Pencils

In the clearance section of TK Maxx I was surprised to see Nudestix featured seen as we can’t get it in the UK, but there was tins and tins of this duo so there must have been a serious overflow of stock somewhere. This was reduced from £48.00 to £5. Crikey, inside there was a cleanup pencil and a moisturising pencil. To be  honest I wasn’t sure what exactly they were meant to do, but I’ve wanted to try Nudestix for a while and that was just at a price that was cheap enough to pique my curiosity!

Makeup Forever Radiance Primer

Picked up in TK Maxx this was an utter steal, I don’t normally opt for radiance primers, but I love the two MUFE primers I’ve tried in the past so was keen to see as to whether that would work for me. It was reduced from £27.99 to £7.99, so even better than most drugstore prices!

Illamasqua OMG Highlighter

I bought this from a makeup artist on a Beauty Bloggers swap group on Facebook, I’ve sold a few bits in the past from there, and I’ve bought a few nail polishes, but I’ve never bought makeup from their before. This highlight was what was used on my wedding day and I loved it, it has a subtle duochrome peachy tone and found it lasted so well throughout the day. This had been swatched but nothing else, and was a steal at £16 – compared to the full price at £35!

Urban Decay Moondust in Chem Trail

When I went shopping with Molly and Sophie in Spring, I spotted this in Urban Decay, went to ask them for it and discovered that they didn’t have any in stock. Since then when ever I’ve been to an Urban Decay I’ve seeked out this colour and it’s always out of stock. I really wanted to try the Moondust from Urban Decay to compare against my Stila Magnificent Metals to see if they lasted as well. The shade Chem Trail I really liked the look of as it was kind of transparent and could be layered over other colours. Again picked up from the same MUA, used once and applied with a brush so applicator is brand new!

ColourPop Yes Please Eyeshadow Palette

I just wanted to give a special mention to this technically I bought it back in June but I just grabbed it off Sophie last week and it’s finally in my possession and I’m looking forward to putting it to the test!

Have you treated yourself to anything new this month? I’ve got a bit pile of palettes I’m hoping to declutter and sell myself that I’m just not reaching for at the moment.

Aww this palette looks so nice! I just purchase a palette too. I think wine colors will be perfect for fall and winter.

We were on the site as soon as it was restocked for the first time! It’s very pretty (still haven’t worn or swatched it yet as I’m not happy with the pictures I took #bloggerproblems!)

August has definitely been a month where I’ve ended up buying more. I only bought 2 beauty things (well, sets of minis so I guess it was more) in July and seem to have made up for it this month by mistake! Mostly Primark and TK Maxx which seem to be dangerous shops to go in at the moment. I haven’t tried the Boots botanical range, would be interesting to see what their things are like.

Luckily my local primark seems to be terrible, and they don’t seem to have all the nice things that I’ve seen online, so despite my best efforts – my store has been a let down!

The one near me has a rubbish home section, unless you want duvets, but the clothes have been pretty good recently and they seem to finally have quite a bit of the beauty range.

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the colourpop palette for a while now but it’s always out of stock when I go to buy it 🙁 is the new boots range good? The packaging would sell it for me!

The Boots range is the same as what was already there – it’s just been repackaged, I haven’t started trying any of it yet so can’t comment on whether it’s any good yet!

Recently got 2 new eyeshadow palettes which is annoying as I should’ve spent the money on replacing my eyebrow pencil 😫😂💕
