Jeffree Star Mojito Lip Scrub Review

Jeffree Star Mojito Lip Scrub

If it says Mojito on it, it may as well also say Rachael buy me on it. Mojito is something I always gravitate towards (both in it’s natural cocktail form, and beauty products), an when I was in the market for a new lip scrub, I spotted this Mojito one from Jeffree Star in the sale at Beauty Bay and swiped it up.

I still have a Lush Bubblegum lip scrub that’s about 6 years old now (I actually don’t use it, and it definitely needs tossing), but I don’t use them very often. I’m currently trialling every liquid lipstick I own (around 50 BTW), in the aid of doing a liquid lipstick week on my blog and as a result I’m wearing liquid lipstick every day until I’m done! But as a result my lips are needing some serious scrubbing a couple of times a week and the purchase of a new one was a wise move on my behalf and I’ve been putting it to good use!

What I never liked about the Lush one was that the taste was very synthetic, I know Bubblegum is not the most natural flavour, but it was almost bubblegum mixed with cleaning product and the flavour was always something I regretted buying. I was tempted by getting one of the ones from MAC (£12.50 each), which I know my friend Molly from Rose Beauty files loves, but when I saw the Jeffree Star ones on sale, they were a lot cheaper (On sale for £7.20, normally £12) and I decided to just get that one, also I’ve had a great experience with any JS products I’ve tried thus far!

The flavour of this is nice, it’s not too much of a pungent alcohol taste and definitely lays more on the minty and lime side. The top layer was quite dry, which was another thing I didn’t love about the Lush ones, but I’ve found as I’ve taken the top layer off, after applying the Jojaba and grape seed oils leave a light oil coating the lips that feels moisturising.

This sits by my bedside and I put it on usually just before I go to bed, the sugar scrub texture means I can just lick off the excess without having to nip to the sink to wipe away. This is also a nice tool to use pre-makeup as a way to increase circulation and plump up the lips, my lips are already the right level of plump so I tend to avoid this before I edge towards Donnatella Versace territory, but it’s worth noting if you like to plump up the look of your lips it’s a good morning routine step.

Another thing I love about the Jeffree Star Mojito Lip Scrub is the packaging, it’s robust and good quality, the bright colour makes it easy to find – and whilst it’s not entirely important, how cute is the little Mojito sticker on top of the box? If you did have multiples of these they’d be a fun thing to keep to see all the different flavours and easy distinguish between them as the only difference on the tub itself is the writing on the side, which isn’t as easy to spot the difference.

The Jeffree Star Lip Scrubs are available from Beauty Bay, they’re currently not on sale, however even at the full price I think they’re well priced. You can of course, scrub your lips with sugar, but the added nourishing oils and handy packaging to take on the go make this worth the splurge in my opinion. I’ve been using this every other day (I used my Lush one once a month at absolute most!) and I’ve still barely grazed the surface on this.

What are your favourite lip scrubs?

I need to get into the habit of using lip scrubs more often. Usually I try to just use my toothbrush lol. I have an unopened lipscrub by the chapstick brand. I need to find it. It’s in one of my boxes, I still need to unpack some more lol. I used to use the elf one, I like that one. I just wish it came in a little tub rather than a lipstick type of tube. Xx

I do want to try this one to see how it compares to MAC! I love the Mac one as it’s not a dry texture so doesn’t get everywhere! M x

I think this is in between the Lush one and the MAC one – it’s not as wet as the ones I remember looking at in MAC, but it doesn’t fall off the lips straight away because it’s so dry!

The beginning made me laugh ahah. And I didn’t even know Jeffree Star did scrubs and now I feel ashamed ahah. Great post! It’d mean a lot if you checked my blog out too x

I have the spearmint one. I like it. I also have the Lush bubblegum one and I like that too. My fave is probably the ELF ones. I love the stick format. It’s just less messy. I’ve tried the original & cherry ones. Recently got the mint one and I like that too.

JS has a pumpkin spice lip scrub I have been eyeing for too long and this totally talked me into getting it!!

Have you tried the LUSH Mint Julips? It’s almost a Mojito but without the lime – it’s quite natural tasting. I even made a DIY version of it. I just finished a clementine flavoured lip scrub but it costs a lot and I’m thinking of making my own again – this time with coconut oil.
You scored a really great deal on this!

No I’ve tried basically nothing from Lush! DIY isn’t a bad way to go, the cost of these ingredients is so low, the mark up must be crazy – it paying for the convenience of not doing it yourself!
