Rosie for Autograph Dream Big Lashes Mascara Review

Rosie for Autograph Dream Big Lashes Mascara

It’s not very often that I look at clothes brands own brand makeup, I’ve tried the odd piece here and there from the likes of Topshop, H&M and New Look – but the stores around me tend to be so small that they don’t carry the makeup lines, so it’s rare I get to swatch away at my hearts content, as I’m often dubious about the quality of clothing brands own offerings, even though rumour has it for example that MAC make the Topshop products. The Rosie for Autograph Dream Big Lashes Mascara is on the cards for review today,

Note this got scheduled incorrectly for this month instead of May… hence why it may sound a bit out of date if you’re up to date!

One clothing brand’s offering I’ve completely and utterly neglected is M&S’s offerings – despite the fact I’ve heard good things about some of the pieces, and my local store has a huge beauty section, I often walk through but never find anything I’m inspired to buy, mainly as it seems a little bit expensive. This mascara came upon me via a Look Incredible box last year and I’ve been patiently waiting to use it. I’d been putting it to the test for the last month or so between attempting to use up the Volume Shake disappointment from Rimmel.

The Rosie for Autograph Dream Big Lashes Mascara comes with a price tag of £15, which is really starting to get up there in price, when I look at the price of some of my other favourites such as Too Faced Better Than Sex, at £19 – it’s only a few pounds off being in that high end bracket. Looking online as I come to review this mascara is out of stock, I’m guessing permanently – which may suggest it’s unusual brand for being included in a beauty box, but I might be wrong so I thought I would review anyway. Also I’ve just managed to snap some pictures of me wearing this before I have my lash extensions put back on for my wedding, and it’ll be six weeks or so before they’re fully  off again (if I don’t end up going though a permanent spell with them again), so wanted to review this whilst I had the chance.

M&S describe this mascara as one which adds Volume, length and curl lashes for an extreme volume effect. I was actually quite surprised to see that this only had a mere 2.8 star review average, as I’ve gotten along with it really quite well. The reviews are split between being very positive and one star reviews stating problems with the wand picking up too much product and it getting clogged up, so I wonder whether it’s being repacked or discontinued due to a quality control problem as I’ve not had an issue with this happening at all, infact the perfect amount of mascara is always on the wand.

The packaging of this line is stunning, everything is a chrome rose gold which looks really pretty. I’ve been pretty careful with this, as I have a pot of mascaras to try on my dressing table, and I’ve not been anywhere with it thus far for it to be rolling around or getting scratched a makeup bag. I have however noticed areas where the chrominess (definitely a word), is starting to rub away and reveal black underneath. For a high priced high street mascara I’d expect a little better.

The brush on this is rubbery, which is not usually my favourite, but there’s something about this one which feels like a hair bristle wand when I run it through my lashes. It’s not too big, or too fat, with a slight tapered end which makes it easy to use on all areas of the lashes, including those difficult inner corners and bottom lashes. I’d describe this as a good all rounder, with high black pigmentation, it doesn’t budge through the day, it’s not clumped or smudged at all, even through our humid heatwave in May it stayed put perfectly throughout the day. When you touch the lashes after applying the formula feels really soft almost like there is no mascara on at all. It adds volume, but also defines and separates whilst it lengthens, it doesn’t tackle one job in the extreme, but offers more than just a natural lash look at the same time.

Overall, I like the Rosie for Autograph Dream Big Lashes Mascara mascara, I really like the effect it gives, and despite that, the superficial side of me just wouldn’t buy it. I think it’s too expensive for a high street store, and I think if I was buying something in that price range I’d rather buy something from Tarte or Too Faced which are moderately more pricey, but enough for me to consider them in the same kind of price bracket.

The packing is stunning, it reminds me of Charlotte Tilbury, but that price point. I mean it is quite expensive, I though that M&S is cheaper with their makeup. xx

I agree, it’s very CT-esque with the Rose Gold. It looks and feels quite luxe, but the knowing it’s from M&S just makes the price point seem so high! xx

Ohhh the packaging! I’m such a sucker for any product looking nice, especially when its rose gold! I’d want this on display! xx

Wow that packaging is gorgeous!? I have heard a lot about Rosie’s collection in adverts etc but I’ve wanted to see what bloggers think! Thank you for sharing this! It makes your eyes look incredible too!? Totally agree about the price point, definitely creeping up there! I have a lot of mascaras that cost £10-12 that are fantastic xxx

It is! I can’t help but think that with this collection you’re paying for the packaging making it at a more expensive price point!
I bought my mum a few of the eyeshadow sticks from the range after hearing they were good and she loves them.

Oh really? That’s great to know! Yeah I definitely feel the same way about it x

So pretty but for the price I will stick to my holy grails!

I’ve got a few products from Rosie’s range & I absolutely love them. Gorgeous results! xx

Is there anything you’d recommend trying out? I bought a few of the shadow sticks for my Mum and she likes them as much as her Bobbi Brown ones, but not bought anything for myself!

I have a slight obsession with highlights so I love the radiance cream & the highlighter stick! The last time I was in England I so nearly got the lipstick because they’re all such amazing shades I’ll probably pick one up next time! & Tey out the shadow sticks as well

I’ve been wanting to try the M&S brand makeup line. I was so sad that although they ship clothing to Canada, they do not ship any of the Beauty items! 🙁
The packaging of this is so on trend and pretty! It’s nice but yeah, a bit on the pricey side. I hate how drugstore prices are now overlapping with mid-end priced makeup lines.

Let me know if you want anything and I can go get some for you, there’s a store about 3 minutes from my work, so go quite a bit!
I agree some brands are getting too big for their boots on prices! I feel like they’ve dolled this line up in packaging that looks a bit fancy to try and justify the price! It’s hard to know with just mascara whether it’s a good reflection of a brand or lines offerings as they can be so hit and miss!

I always look at the Rosie makeup, especially the glossy lip pencils but I put them back as they are a bit pricey. I’ll buy them eventually haha. The mascara looks pretty good but I know what you mean. You feel you could buy a well known brand for a similar price x

    • June 27, 2017 / 7:55 pm

I think it would only need to be 2 or 3 pounds cheaper for it not to seem so pricey, it it was too end of drugstore rather than bottom end of high end! I do want to try some more bits from them, next time I get an m and s gift card maybe that’s what I’ll get some bits from!

      • June 27, 2017 / 7:58 pm

I agree. It doesn’t have to be much cheaper, just a bit. I do love the packaging and all the products do look great. I will defo end up buying some lip products xx

I thought this was a great review. I loved the overall look of the mascara (plus your eyeshadow was beautiful) but if I’m going to spend that much on a mascara I’d probably just go for a more reliable brand.

I’ve been meaning to try this range for a while, couldn’t believe how closely duped the packaging was to most of the CT range. Have you tried the Legendary lashes mascara from CT that this is a dupe of? I really didn’t get along with it and actually returned it I found it so bad, but the packaging – so pretty! X

    • June 28, 2017 / 9:16 am

No I haven’t! I didn’t think this range was specifically meant to be a dupe as far as I knew as I thought they came out around the same time! I don’t buy many mascaras as beauty boxes keep me topped up! I have 8 in waiting that haven’t been opened yet just from boxes!

I think that it’s possibly because it’s Rosie’s line of makeup, that they’ve purposefully priced it up a bit higher than it’s really worth. Marketing strategy? Her line of lingerie is really pricey too (although the fabrics are REALLY nice and look more luxe than this!).

With mascaras, I think you either splurge or you don’t and this is in-between which is really annoying. I do like the outcome on you though!
