Wedding Guest Makeup // Guest Post By Everyday Amy

Today I have a guest post from the lovely Amy, at Everyday Amy. She attended her Partner’s brother’s wedding recently and shared the makeup that stayed in place all day. I hope you enjoy reading her recommendations as much as what I did.

Let me introduce myself…My name is Amy, I write a little blog that goes by the name of EverydayAmy and I am delighted to be guest posting on HelplessWhilstDrying!

Whilst Rachael is away taking some time off to enjoy her special day! I thought it would be nice to talk about wedding makeup, this combination would be lovely for a blushing Bride or a wedding guest. I attended my partner’s brother’s wedding recently and this is the combination I chose to make my face look presentable…

Weddings are loooonnnnngggg days. You will sweat, eat, drink and likely cry like a happy little baby so it is super important that your makeup is glued to your face. No budging! In order to achieve this you need to set a good base.

Starting with a primer I used the new Collection Primed and Ready Pore Minimiser Primer. This primer has a silicon constancy which glides over your pores making your face look smooth and pore free. It does also mattify the skin slightly which helps with keeping away the sweat induced shine!

Next, Foundation. I went for the Revlon Color Stay in Buff for Combination/Oily skin. I really like this foundation because it is a fantastic shade match for me which is hard to find with my weird pale skin with a grey/yellow undertones. It is matte so it lasts all day and doesn’t look shiny in photos.

I chose the Miss Sporty 10HR Stay Concealer in Light, I love this concealer. It is medium/light coverage which I like because I have good skin anyway so it keeps my under eyes still looking natural and not too bright but covers up any darkness I might have.

I somehow managed to leave my face powder out of this photo but I used Rimmel Stay Matte in Translucent because what else would I use, it’s the best.

Now that the base is down I like to spray a nice layer of Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. I know it might seem weird to apply setting spray at this stage but I think for a long day at a wedding your makeup needs all the help it can get to stay in place.

From top swatch to the bottom…

Swatch One, I used the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Paint in Eternal White all over my eyelid as a base. It is a lovely intense champagne white shade which looks lovely for a wedding as it is so shimmery and brightening. I used this for the first time on the day and I managed to make it work but I wouldn’t use it again. Maybe try a Maybelline Color Tattoo instead. I also packed this into the inner corner to create a crazy intense highlight.

Swatch Two is the shade Booty Call from the Smashbox Metallic Covershot palette. It is a cool toned metallic pink, very pigmented and shimmery. I packed this on top of the L’Oreal Paint and blended it in to create an intense yet soft pink eye look. Very simple but very pretty.

Swatch Three is the Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter in Fireball. It is such a unique pink/orange toned highlight, it looks a little too intense in the swatch but on the skin if you use a light hand it can create a beautiful pink toned highlight. It really compliments the eyes and provides a quirky touch which I really appreciate!

Swatch Four shows my absolute fave bronzer/contour at the moment. It is the Tanya Burr bronzer in Beach Bronzer from the Peachy Glow Face Palette. This bronzer is highly pigmented and contains fine glitters which I know aren’t everyones cup of tea but I personally love the dimension it gives me face. I tend to lightly contour with this then go over it with a fluffy brush to blow out the look a little.

Swatch Five is the loveliest glittery peach blush. Again from the Tanya Burr Peachy Glow palette. This blush is a gorgeous peachy pink shade that somehow despite the glitters looks so natural and lasts all day long.

Now time to add at least three layers of mascara. I chose the Barry M Showgirl mascara as it has a thin plastic wand that gives the most fluttery and soft but long, voluminous lashes. It’s super natural looking so perfect for a wedding!

The last two thing I do are my eyebrows and my lips. I don’t know why I do it in this order, it likely doesn’t make sense. But I’ll do me! My eyebrows cannot live without this little Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar, I use the darkest shade to carve out my brows being careful to use a light hand and follow my brows natural shape to make sure they look defined but not too sharp.

I have gone very metallic on the eyes and statement on the highlight so I thought a your lips but better gloss would be perfect for the lips. I personally think that a gloss or a sheer lip colour of some kind is best for a wedding as it will wear off evenly and be easy to reapply. Super important when you spend the whole day eating and drinking. The last thing you want is a liquid lip crusted around your mouth after a huge slice of wedding cake or a shot of tequila! I chose this little bargain from Essense.

Don’t forget one last layer of setting place!

So thats the face I chose to wear to the rustic wedding I recently attended! I hope it helped give you some ideas for a wedding you might be attending or even being the blushing Bride yourself!
