Tili Beauty Box – Fourth Edition – Review & Unboxing

When Tili started launching teasers for their fourth edition of their beauty box, I was like really – has that much time passed already? Since getting engaged last January I feel like every month is whizzing by quicker and quicker. The last edition of Tili was not my favourite, and I decided if I wasn’t as keen on the items this time around, I wouldn’t be ordering, but there was several items inside I wanted to try, and more that had me curious as I’d never heard of them.

In my head I thought the Tili box came out every three months, and it did didn’t feel like year since the first box arrived at my door, so I just crossed back and checked and the first box arrived in August, the second in October, and the third in January. I feel like now they’re falling into the routine of every three months but the first and second arrive slightly closer together.

If you’re unaware, Tili (standing for Try It, Love It), comes from QVC, it’s tended to mostly to be deluxe sample size item, with a few full sizes here and there. This one is mostly sample sizes again, with just one full size item inside. The price is £20 including delivery, and is not subscription based. They tease all the items in the box in the run up to it’s release so you know exactly what’s inside and if the box is for you. I think it might be nice that if on the product page they didn’t show the items, unless you clicked a reveal button or something so if you wanted to buy it blind you could do. There are hardcore QVC beauty fans who will buy this box no matter what’s inside and may want to keep it a surprise.

The actual box is the nicest out of any beauty box in my opinion, the cardboard is really thick and it makes great storage – my is currently housing polishes I’m aiming to review, as well as all my gel nail bits. This time the box is reincarnated into a peachy orange tone, which has me dreaming of warm summer days (srsly, where are they?!).

Let’s jump in and look at the contents!

First up was a deluxe sized sample of the Alpha H Liquid Rose Gold – this is brand new and isn’t even available to buy yet. You may recall that the original arrived in the first edition of the box, but I gave my bottle away to a friend as it was supposedly effective for Rosacea (it wasn’t for her at least) so never got chance to try it. I’ll put it to the test this time, I’m trying a lot of different acids at the moment so it may have to wait for a little while. This rose edition is supposedly better for people with more sensitive or dry skins.

The full size item is a nail varnish, which I always think is a little annoying to class as a full size as a miniature polish just feels stingy. The boxes featured a random selection from the OPI Fiji Collection (Spring Summer 2017) and I received the shade Getting Nadi On My Honeymoon, love the name because – duh, wedding, but the colour is another pale pink, bad luck on my behalf, as I’d have rathered just about every other colour in this collection, I rarely reach for pale pinks.

Just like I said with my Look Incredible box review, I’m not a fake tan user and I’m pretty sure I’ve for this already lingering (times two) in the cupboard. This Vita Liberata 10 Minute Tan is a quick fix that can be washed off within 10 minutes, but left up to 4 hours and promises to be odour free and transfer resistant providing the results of a sunkissed natural golden tan.

I’ve really wanting to re-try Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, before I started blogging this was my go-to, day in day out, and it’s not something I’ve used in a good few years. I’ve been intrigued to go back to it to see if it’s as good as the hype that still surrounds this, and whether I love it as much as I used to. This is a thick cream cleanser that removes every scrap of makeup as well as making the skin feel nourished, it also comes paired with a muslin cloth.

Erno Laszlo is a brand I’ve not heard of until about two or three weeks ago, now it’s a brand which I keep seeing pop up everywhere. As credited by Marilyn Monroe as her reason for good skin, it’s a brand which has clearly been around for ages. This featured a Cleansing Duo of two of their most iconic products, their Cleansing Oil and Cleansing Bar. I’m looking forward to giving these a try out, I will definitely keep you posted on my Marilyn Monroe transformation.

This was really the deciding item for me, if it hadn’t have been in the box it would probably have been a skip for me. This is the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in the shade Medium, which I’ve heard nothing but favourable reviews about. High Coverage, containing collagen, peptides, hyaluronic acid and packed with vitamins – this sounds like the epitome of great  skincare and makeup combined.

Next up a brand I hadn’t heard of before was a duo from Julien Farel, with their Vitamin Shampoo and Conditioner. I thought it was a bit cheeky for Tili to count this as two items in the box, where they classed the Erno Laszlo cleansing duo as one… it’s a bit makeup up your mind! Shampoo and Conditioner should always come paired together in my opinion in boxes like this, they shouldn’t be counted separately. This range is described as great for weakened or damaged hair with rich vitamins designed to cleanse without stripping away natural oils, whilst the conditioner delivers hydration, manageability and a weightless bouncy appearance. These are a decent size, normally these tiny shampoo conditioners never travel with me as their too small, but this would be a perfect set for a few days away from home, I’ll be saving them I think – initially I planned to take them on honeymoon but I think they’re not the right size for that purpose!

I’d say this would be a handy size for honeymoon travels,  but I’m 90% sure I’ve already got a tube of this nestled away from a beauty box last year which has yet to be touched. This is the Ultrasun Face SPF30, which has both UVA and UVB protection. To be honest I’ll probably take it even if it’s just to be used on the body. I need to use these samples up and have no immediate plans of going anywhere hot in the near future after Bali.

Lastly, one I’ll be popping in my giveaway box, this is Benefit Roller Lash, which I’ve tried before and didn’t get on with. My natural lashes are too long and curled for this and my lashes just end up looking spidery, so I’ll save this for a home which will love it more than I do. Considering we’ve had a full size Tarte mascara from this box in the past, and you can often pick up sizes this big from Benefit from magazines this felt a little stingy sized.

I don’t think this was the best Tili box and on reflection I’m not sure that I should have bought it, I was sucked in by the It Cosmetics CC Cream which I so desperately wanted to try, and whilst I’m happy to have an OPI polish, I could have lived without it. The box isn’t the most balanced in my opinion – three cleansers in one box (I know they class the Erno Laszlo as one, but still…). I was hoping to see Tarte make a reappearance in this box, as the only place where we can get Tarte in the UK, it’s a brand which is really popular (and half the time everything I want to try and order is sold out!) with QVC customers and attracting new audiences.

It’s also a little repetitive in my opinion, the second Tili box has featured an OPI polish (in fact every box has had either an Essie or OPI polish), the first featured Liquid Gold. We’ve had a shampoo and conditioner duo in the past, as well seeing Vita Liberata tan in the first box. I feel like QVC has such a wide scope when it comes to beauty, that after only four boxes some of the items already feel repetitive is a little odd. I had a quick count of the number of brands listed under beauty, there’s 230, I realise not every brand is able to provide samples – or it may not be appropriate for every brand to feature in a box, but come on, that’s a hell of a lot of room for play and exploration into different brands and products.

What do you think of this edition of the Tili box?

Everything but the tan and the nail polish really appeals to me! This is the first one I’ve been pretty interested in! Xxx

I agree with you on those Benefit goodies size. They need to up their game if they’ll give Benefit anything. Well, I don’t have this box in France. There’re lots of biologic beauty, wine, cheese and food boxes over here though *LOL*

I would 100% sign up for a wine box, I don’t dare look if there’s one here. I’ll be signed up within minutes haha!
Yeah, Benefit release every new launch into a magazine first, and have them a couple of times a year… getting what you can get in a magazine is a bit like… yeah, okay – you can do better.

Even though I didn’t want anything from the box this time, I was still tempted to order🙈 You’ll have to let ne know how the Marilyn cleanser works as I was intrigued by that. I am a bit disappointed there’s been two lits of tan, so many nail polishes and 2 lots of alphah gold. I don’t mind shampoo and conditioners though x

I got sent a couple things from Erno Laszlo last year via Influenster. Some people love it and some don’t. I thought it was ok but not the greatest thing ever. Made my skin feel kind of irritated actually. And I don’t have sensitive skin. This brand has been around for a loooong time, since 1952.

You actually get a ton of stuff for £20 shipped! Not bad, but I guess it’s annoying that there are several products in there you’re not totally fond of.

Erno Laszlo did have a counter at Hudson’s Bay here years ago (don’t think it is anymore after they revamped the place). I never tried it but it was always staffed by more mature women who sniffed at younger girls like me (this would have been in my 20s). Meh to them! LOL.

I really love that box, though. Hahaha! So pretty.

Oh that OPI colour name is too cute. But yeah… the shade is so uninspiring.
I’m curious about your thoughts on the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream! I’ve had it on my wish list for ages.
The 25ml tube of sunscreen is super handy for travelling or the purse – you can never have too much sunscreen, I always say!
The box looks decent – perhaps a little bit heavy on the skincare front. It looks like a lot of stuff though, for the price.

Some of the things in there sound interesting, the It cosmetics CC cream sounds great (though the wrong colour for me) and the Reno Laszlo duo sounds interesting to try but most of the rest is a bit disappointing to me. The sun cream is good, I have one from a beauty advent cake far I’ve started with the sun recently, but I’m the same with pale pink nail varnish and the benefit sample sizes always seem cheap in these boxes given you get them free with magazines so often. It is a shame they aren’t going for a bigger range of brands in these boxes over time, you’d think they’d include more of their brands that you can’t get anywhere else in the UK to get people buying it.
