Sorry it’s that time of the month where all the beauty boxes descend and arrive at once! This month’s Look Incredible was going to have to have a lot to live up to if it was going to beat last month’s box which was one of my favourite editions ever. I don’t know why but my beauty box deliveries always seem to come late compared to others, which is annoying as I’ve been a subscriber for such a long time now (hello, I was here first – why are others queue jumping haha!). So I didn’t get my mitts on this to a few days after as other’s appear to. I always suspect boxes are dispatched in Alphabetical order which is why I’m one of the last for them to arrive, my new surname won’t help that once I’m married either, dammit.
If you’re unaware of Look Incredible, as not many people seem to talk about this amazing piece of monthly mail, then it offers 5 or more full size beauty items, usually makeup and skincare based. The majority of brands are in the mid-high end category. This month is the first time I’ve known a beauty box to do this and has seen a price rise from £21.49 to £25.00 per month (including delivery), so my expectations are a little heightened. It’s worth noting they also do a deluxe box (which I compared value wise here) which is priced at £35, that box has not seen a price hike but I imagine now that value wise they’ll now be closer to being aligned as the lower cost box actually worked out as better value for money when I calculated it.
The standard box used to be black with gold lettering and the bows which I just don’t understand were beige. The deluxe box was white with black writiing with red bows, I’m not sure whether they’ve decided to swap these over, or they’re just trying to use up stock for a redesign (I hope so, these are useless to reuse the magnet closure is so crap it doesn’t hold together), but this time my standard box arrived in the usual deluxe packaging.
Now onto this month’s box!
San Tropez Gradual Tan Plus Lotion – RRP £16.00
I’ll admit that I was a little disappointed to see this in the box. I think Self Tanning is such a personal thing that probably over 50% of people are unlikely to want to use the product, and it may not be the right shade for them if they do. Whilst I always have the best intentions to try out fake tans, and see if I can find one that makes me want to use it frequently it seems like such a faff and I would rather be pasty! At least it’s from a high quality brand, and whilst I’m tentatively going to be filing it into my fake tan box, it’s likely to stay there permanently. This Plus version of their gradual tan has extra moisturising and firming benefits which last up to 8 hours (seems like they weren’t going for the stupidly bold claims like lots of companies do on that one! 82 hour moisturiser!)
Lord & Berry Magic Brow in Wonderland – RRP £14.00
I’d normally grumble at Lord & Berry products as I’ve not liked any that I’ve tried this one however has me intrigued. It’s a brow pencil that’s marbled in colour with dark brown and white, with a spoolie on the other end. The sheet tells me this is to create a more natural effect and it’s well reviewed online, I’m not convinced looking at that it’ll be dark enough for me.
Nails Inc Prince’s Street Nail Varnish – RRP £15.00
I’m always disheartened by Nails Inc nail polishes as controversially I’m not a fan of them, but I know this will be a hit with most of the subscribers of the box. This is a pretty shade for spring, but I think I’ll just be popping this by for a giveaway instead as I’m not a big wearer of these pale pastel pink shades.
Ciate Glow To Illuminating Blush in Heartbreaker – RRP £22.00
This is the item that I was most excited to see! I’ve had a crappy relationship with Ciate Polishes but their makeup line has had me intrigued, these are a relatively new product from Ciate, only launching in February this year, so it was exciting to see them in the box. These are absolutely stunning from the packaging to the product in the pan. I can not wait to try this. This is in the shade Heartbreaker which is a gorgeous shade which reminds me of Benefit’s Rockateur Blush which is what the MUA is using on me for the wedding day and I had debated buying. It’s a glowing dark dusky rose shade.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Liquid Lip Potion in Quiet Riot – RRP £21.00
I’m also really happy to see this in the box. I remember these launching but I can’t remember hearing much about them. I love the strawberry red shade of this, as well as the name. As I keep saying I’m planning on doing a liquid lip comparison post and this is another to add to the pile. The packaging of this is so stunning too, I can’t wait to try!
Overall a bit of a half and half box for me this box, the St Tropez and Nails Inc products I could have totally skipped on. I’m intrigued by the Lord and Berry brow product, but I’ve never enjoyed L&B products in the past so I’m a little dubious. The Ciate and Estee Lauder products I’m extremely happy to see however and overall balances it out to a good box rather than an okay one! I had a quick peek a the Deluxe box which included a that ‘Too Cute’ Too Faced Palette, which wouldn’t have been a standout for me as the colours are not my jam, a matte lip crayon from Laura Gellar, Lancome Brow Pencil, No7 Body Lotion & Dior Eyeliner, that one would have been a bit of a bleh box for me too, the high value standout item is the palette and that wouldn’t have been my cup of tea.
What do you think of this month’s box?
