The Rushower Scent-Sational Dry Shampoo by Soap and Glory / First Impressions

If you’ve been with my blog for a while, you’ll know that aside from Face Masks, there’s one product which I can not resist trying the newest releases of, it’s Dry Shampoo. And you’ll also know that despite by best efforts of trying, I’ve had a rather rocky relationship with Soap and Glory. So the two combined naturally had me intrigued.

If I was to describe my relationship status with Soap and Glory, it would be the husband of a best friend who I do not like, we’ve met on many occasions, and some nights they’re bare-able but for the most part, we can’t seem to see eye to eye. There is a very limited selection of items within the haircare section of S&G, as far as I’m aware the Glad Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner duo being the only items, until the Rushshower launched, I reviewed those in 2015, and to cut a long story short (unless you want to read my review here) it made my hair really, really dry and unmanageable, in the end I used up the conditioner whilst I was shaving my legs, and the shampoo as a shower gel.

The Rushshower looks just as I would expect a Soap and Glory dry shampoo to look, Pink with it’s trademark retro feel. This is described as a scent-national dry shampoo, and I can’t fail to agree, as it’s heavily perfumed with the ‘Signature Pink’ Soap and Glory scent of Rose and Bergamot. It certainly goes a long way into helping your hair appear fresh just from the scent. They describe the formula as being a Touch-Release technology meaning as you swish and ruffle your hair around you’ll get an extra burst of fragrance, not too sure I agree with that one. It lingers in the hair but it’s not as powerful as they make out.

The jet of product that comes out is actually pretty strong and I was expecting a heavy white residue to be left all over my hair. Whilst it does leave something intitially after the first brush through the hair that easily disappears and even on my darker brown roots there’s no hint of colour left, living up to it’s promises of being suitable for every hair colour.

I’m actually surprised at how much I like this, I’ve been using this to add a little volume even when my hair is clean. Often I find texturising dry shampoos too heavy and normal dry shampoos not capable of this task,  but this seems to have the perfect texture for just making hair look less flat. Add to that it does actually make the hair look clean again, it doesn’t do a lot for me tackling day three hair, but day two hair it has me looking and feeling fresh with no residue left behind.

It doesn’t quite beat my beloved Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo to the top spot for banishing greasy appearances, I think that one takes the edge slightly. But I love the texturising effect that this has at the same time without being overwhelmingly so as it’s very controllable. I will be keeping a can of this stocked up in my drawer aside my Aussie depending on what I’m using it for/how I’m styling my hair, and would totally recommend!

They also do this in a travel size 50ml can, if I hadn’t of already picked up a mini for my honeymoon I would have been running to the shop to get one for my trip. The travel size does seem to be a bit of a rip off, £2.50 for 50ml, vs £3 for 200ml, but that’s the price you normally have to pay for a mini!

So I know what you’re noticing, A Soap and Glory product I not only like, but I love. Hallelujah, it finally happened.

What are your favourite dry shampoos?

Haha I’m literally the exact same, both with trying out dry shampoos and with my soap & glory relationship. This sound so amazing though!! Definitely going to try it out now, especially since a fellow soap & glory hater loved it haha. Loved reading this x

Haha I like your description of your relationship with S&G! 😛 Fortunately, I don’t dislike any of my SO’s friends! XD
Glad this dry shampoo turned out to be better than expected. Perhaps your expectations are so low? Dry shampoo isn’t something I use too frequently so I stick with what I like. I’m a slut when it comes to mascaras though! 😉

I think you’re right, I expect that I’m not going to like anything I try from them by this point! This does actually rank just above Colab for me which I think is your fave? Only narrowly though.
Haha, I’m a mascara slut too, always gotta try new ones to review!

I want to try this. So far my fave is Batiste. I’ve used just about every scent they make. If I see this next time I’m at Target or Ulta, I’m going to grab a can.

It’s brand new in the U.K. the week before last I think the soap and glory releases take a little while to filter down the you guys, but it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for as it’s great! Xx

I picked this up over the weekend and I’m looking forward to trying it. It smells beautiful, and I’m always game to try new dry shampoos! Hopefully I’ll like it as much as you do.

Do u use batiste? That’s all I use and would love to know how it compares and whether it’s worth switching. I’m thinking of trying the Aussie one too after reading that you use that one

I dislike Batiste, my hair just feels covered in residue and leaves a white cast in my hair, I can’t use the coloured ones because of my ombré, my favourites are the Aussie and Colab ones as they are transparent, and this one now!0 xx

Oh this sounds lovely, hopefully I’ll be able to find it here. I need to re-stock my dry shampoo!

It’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for, I think the S&G products take a little while to launch in Canada and the USA and it was only launched two weeks ago here, so grab it when it becomes available to try! x

S&G is really hard to find here in Montreal, only a few Pharmaprix stores (Shoppers Drug Mart in the rest of Canada) carry part of the range. But I’ll keep my eyes open for it since it sounds like it would work for my hair. 🙂

Great review, I need to try this. I’m always on the hunt for a new dry shampoo.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who re-purposes products I don’t like. I’m always relegating conditioners to leg shaving purposes.

    • I hate wasting things so will try and use something up somehow! Even if it means I only use a shampoo once a month because I hate it, I will use up every last drop before I see it wasted haha!
I like this, I’m close to running out now after 3 weeks, I’ve used it daily to add texture to my hair if I’ve not been using it as oil control and like it for both uses!

I picked this up when it launched but put it back without purchasing.. Now it has got the HWD seal of approval, i’ll definitely have to pick it up! xxx

I think I’ve been pretty unadventurous with my dry shampoo choices and have only used Batiste up until now, not that I’ve ever been that impressed. I’ll definitely have to give this a go after reading your review. I also love you description of your relationship with S&G products. Very amusing!

I’ve been looking for a Dry Shampoo and this one sounds great! I’ll have to look into it, as I don’t mind Soap & Glory too much. Great Review
