Models Own Lix Liquid Lipsticks – Pink Mint and Raspberry Mojito

Models Own Lix Liquid Lipsticks – Pink Mint and Raspberry Mojito

Models Own seem to be killing it in their makeup game recently, they’ve come on leaps and bounds from the nail polish brand that they began as, there’s actually very few Models Own polishes I own as they were never really a brand that were around me to purchase from and they seem to have since seem to have become even fewer counters and far between, but I’m glad to see that the brand is starting to make a resurgence with their almost ‘re-brand’ feel that they have to their makeup line, and being the liquid lipstick fiend I am, I naturally started there.

I was tipped over the edge to try them after seeing Rihanna from Robowecop (or I should now say RihannaOliviaB – she’s just changed her username) wearing one in her Instagram Stories, and a day after it arrived and a quick application in the evening it arrived I found myself buying a second the next day whilst shopping with Molly & Sophie. The neon is reflective of the line as a whole, if you’re looking for a perfect nude liquid lippie, this isn’t the line for you – there’s a small selection of colours and they’re all bright, Corals, Pinks & Reds dominate the line.

The outside cardboard packaging is gorgeous, a silky matte neon yellow to pink, with the Models own logo embossed with white spot gloss, the line is thoroughly eye-catching and is exactly the kind of thing I can see myself repeatedly gravitating towards in Superdrug. Beyond the cardboard tube, the product packaging doesn’t disappoint either.

I think you can probably already tell from how much I’m already gushing over them that this is going to be a positive review, and you’re not wrong they’re amongst the best liquid lipsticks I’ve tried in the past 12 months. Just looking and judging it based on the product I would think that these are quite expensive, but I picked my first one up on ASOS for £5.99 (I think the normal price is £6.99) and the second I picked up for £3.99 in Superdrug, to me they’re absolute bargains.

The packaging is a gorgeous frosted acrylic adorned with a shiny white logo and cap. The wand length on these are perfect too – I’m quite critical when it comes to liquid lipstick wands, too long and they’re difficult to control and get a precise line – which when it comes to bold colours like these is even more important, and too short you end up blocking your view in how you hold the wand in your hand. At the end of the wand is the perfect doe foot which picks up enough product without being so overloaded it becomes messy.

In addition to the gorgeous packaging these are wonderfully scented, they’re minty and not a super sweet verging on sickly minty scent which resembles confectionary, but a hardcore ‘real’ mint which makes your lips tingle for the first minute when applied. That is reflective into the whole line – with names which are themed around mint names – the two I picked up being Pink Mint and Raspberry Mojito.

Raspberry Mojito

Raspberry Mojito is a gorgeous Raspberry Pink shade (surprise!) which is going to be a colour which I’m going to love throughout the year I suspect. the formula of this is really silky feeling.

Pink Mint

Pink MInt is the colour I saw first on Rihanna, it’s a super bright summery pink that is a wearable Neon. On paler skins in particular I think this is a standout shade if you’re in to fun colours. You do have to be careful with this one if you end up having to go over areas to get an even edge, you can end up deepening the colour – which is noticeable on the outer edge of my bottom lip above.

Both of these set really quickly and they’re not a great lipstick for topping up as you’re on the go as I find both need a steady hand, so a bathroom stop is highly recommended by me, rather than a quick retouch up without looking. I’ve found these last well through the day with eating and drinking – the first meal I’ve found the application lasts pretty well but once you’ve made your way through a second it needs reapplying.

Quick, minor touchups seem fine with this – but once it’s got to the point of needing a going over all over, then total reapplication works better due to the darkening of the colours as it can end up looking quite patchy otherwise. Despite that I’ve had much more expensive liquid lipsticks which have performed and lasted no where near as well as what this budget friendly option has done.

I’m now eyeing up the next shades I want, Purple Mint, Berry Cool and Pink Eucalyptus being top of the list, I love the fun shades that this range has – but Models Own please bring out some gorgeous rosey nudes – I need more in this formula! If you’re outside of the UK and can’t get your hands on these in Superdrug these are available on ASOS as well as the Models Own website. Beyond these liquid lipsticks I’m going to be carefully inspecting the rest of the range on my next visit to Superdrug to see what else takes my fancy to try, as the range now has be intrigued.

Have you tried the revamped Models Own Line yet?

You are right, they are gorgeous but it looks like to me Superdrug is not going to sell Models Own anymore because everything is now on 50% and they don’t seem to restock the items that are sold out…

Oh that’s odd, you’d have thought that if they were going to stop selling them they’d have done it Before they redone the whole makeup like, why buy in brand new stuff to just discount it? I may go online and check them out some more pieces now then!

There should have been a ‘gorgeous’ in the first sentence of that comment. I keep all of my MAC lipsticks in their boxes lol, makes each shade easy to find with the name on top.

I haven’t tried the lipsticks but I have their eye primer and love it, it’s replaced my UD primer potion as my go to and so much cheaper, and an eyeshadow palette that was a bit meh and not worth the extra money compared to some other makes in Superdrug. I’ve been tempted by a few other things and these liquid lipsticks are definitely ones I want to see if I can find next time I go somewhere with a superdrug, I’d rather try out brighter colours in person than risk online.

Raspberry Mojito looks gorgeous on you! I really like their rebrand actually. I’ve never been a massive fan of their standard nail poilish range so maybe I’ll start with these lipsticks instead! .xo
