My Little Box March 2017 – #NoFilter

I always try to get my My Little Box reviews up as promptly as I can from their arrival, and this one was no exception. It arrived on my desk at work late Friday afternoon and as soon as I opened it I knew I’d be photographing it and writing up the post as soon as I could.

If you’ve been reading my unboxings and reviews of my My Little Box journey, you’ll know I’ve had a very rocky relationship with the box over the last year, none arguably more so than last months box – which had me more and more confused as the month passed. This month felt like a time travel back to the subscription I initially fell in love with, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this might be my favourite box in about two years, and probably somewhere in my top three.

This is the second timc since the beginning of the year that we’ve seen My Little box, not be… a box. The January release saw us with a large canvas bag, whilst this month they stepped up their game even further. March’s edition came housed in a beautiful peach toned semi see-through makeup bag. I actually love the size of this, love that it’s square and love that it’s partially see-through. The caption on the makeup bag encapsulates this month’s theme ‘#NoFilterBeauty, si vous plait’ – the products inside this month’s box are meant to help you release your inner beauty, ditch the filters and help you be you.

The first item inside the box I discovered the print for the month, I loved the slogan of this, and I also loved that the design was different. Whilst I have always loved looking at these when they’ve arrived, I stopped keeping them a few months ago and binned all that I had. I can see me using this one, or at the very least using it as a blog prop. More of these to come please my Little Box!

The first of the non-beauty item I pulled out was a little Notepad, with cute makeup illustrations in labelled Beauty Notes. this for me is really handy thing to do a bit of a ‘stocktake’ of my stash as everything is piled into old My Little Boxes – so I know what I have and where it is. Alternatively it would make a handy little jotter for blog post ideas. I’m not sure what the non-blog user would want a beauty notes pad for, but I’m happy with it.

Next up was an intriguing little bubble wrap pouch. Once I realised what was in it I was really happy. This was a phone ring to stick on the back of your phone to hold it to stop you dropping it (I’ve had an almost permanent cracked screen since May, so that tells you what you need to know about me), or to prop it up which is handy for me as I’ve been doing a lot of Instagram stories lately and I can now hang my phone off things. I’ve literally been thinking of buying one of these, so to see a rose gold one included (which matches my current phone case well). was an incredibly lucky inclusion for me.

Lastly before we get to the products was a Foundation buffing brush, from My Little Beauty. Not only is the pink and white brush incredibly pretty and instagram worthy, but it came packaged in a delightful little box of it’s own. I’m not sure that I would use this as a foundation brush personally, I think it’s too large and I’d waste a lot of product with it, but as a blush brush or a general all over powder brush it will be a good choice. I also love that it’s not got a giant handle. Makes it a bit more friendly for taking on your travels or in your handbag.

So next up the Beauty products, first I pulled out the monthly inclusion from My Little Beauty. This was a lovely boxed polish in a pretty baby pink shade which is absolutely perfect for spring. I’ve had a couple of My Little Beauty polishes in the past and they’ve always been nice quality so I’m happy to have another.

Next up, an item I was very happy to see was the Blemish Free Primer from Laura Mercier. I’ve tried the original and the oil control primers from Laura Mercier, and loved them both – but I didn’t know that this existed. My skin has been incredibly blemish prone recently, so I’ll be putting this to the test pretty much immediately – this comes with the promise of smoothing over pores whilst the inclusion of salicylic acid should help clear up the skin.

Lastly was a sample of Deep Euphoria perfume from Calvin Klein. I know people really love the Euphoria line, and I’m not sure whether this is a new or already existing fragrance from the line, but I quickly glanced over the accompanying card and noticed the word Lilac Blossoms, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to love this already, as that’s one of my favourite notes in perfume.

This ‘box’ is back to My Little Box at it’s very best for me. If I had one complaint it would be that the Perfume sample could have been bigger, as it did scream a bit ‘Free Sample’ (whilst it did come in it’s own box). However there’s not a product in this month’s box that I don’t like the look of – and more importantly I’m going to use it all. I said in last month’s box review that I felt like my house was piling up with crap thanks to the subscription, but I’ll be putting everything from this box to good use.

Well done My Little Box, more of this quality and style of box please. You’ll have me hooked forever! If you’d like to see every My Little Box from the UK since it’s release – I’ve been here from the start, and you can check them out here.

If you’re outside of the UK, you should check out my good friend Joyce’s post, she lives in France and the box she receives is slightly different to the UK edition (and this one was a collaboration with Sephora for her!), you can find her review here.

What do you think to this months edition of My Little Box?

Definitely a lovely little box! This is cool, I wish we had boxes like this in Canada, that mix up fun and handy lifestyle products with beauty products.

I really like the look of this box! I think it had a great mix of products in it and just generally looked like things I would enjoy! I meant to ask where you got your phone ring from yesterday so now I know! Great to see you and lets not leave it as long next time xxx

The bubble wrap bubbles are in heart shapes! OMG what else will they think of next?! I’d want to pop them though… (heh, never mind what’s inside 😛 )
I’ve had another version of the LM primer and I loved it – hope you’ll like the blemish-free version.
The beauty print beauty notebook is a nice touch.

This looks lovely! I sometimes feel the subscription services have hit and miss ones from month to month, but I think I would have been happy with these products too. A lovely write up! xx

I’ve been feeling a little bit Of the ‘I’ve got so much crap from my subscription boxes piling up’ quite a bit recently and don’t feel as into my birchbox as I used to be! Would you say that this box is worth getting over that one or over any other?

I’ll link up to yours tomorrow, I’m about to go to sleep and I can never work the app on my phone, don’t know how people do it!
I haven’t tried the primer yet, but I’ve had two LM ones in the past and loved them so I have high hopes for this one. Off to read yours quickly before bed though ❤️xxx

      • March 13, 2017 / 10:36 pm

Yey!!!! I also can’t quite work the WP app. I thought I was alone and belong to the hall of shame 😂 sweet dreams 😘

        • March 13, 2017 / 10:41 pm

It’s just a clunky rubbish app that’s only good for replying to comments (my professional opinion, WordPress if you’re reading I’ll build you a better one!)

          • March 13, 2017 / 11:28 pm

Lol I hope wp is reading this 😂

Ooh this is a good box! I found that sometimes they were naff, sometimes excellent! An iRing is the best thing I ever purchased for my phone so it’s really cool that you got one in the box, you’ll never want to be without it now! 💕

3 days in and I’m already wondering what the bloody hell I did without one! It is very up and down subscription – I just can’t bring myself to unsub though! x

I say this every time I see one of your My Little Box reviews that I need to subscribe but I never do, I must get run to it because this one looks amazing! They are so on trend aren’t they! All those products are perfect and I love that you get a mini bottle of perfume rather than one of those rubbish vials some of the other boxes do.
