Can Batiste’s New 2 in 1 Dry Shampoo Change My Mind on Batiste?

A few weeks ago I went a little bit borderline crazy buying 4 bottles of dry shampoo in about a week (none of which are my ultimate favourite, and I’m forcing myself to at least 3 of these to repay for my idiocy before I allow myself to buy another). The one that had me most intrigued out of them all was the newest from Batiste, with their 2 in 1 dry shampoo and conditioner.

I do not like Batiste’s original dry shampoo, it leaves a white cast in my hair and I can’t use a darker version thanks to my ombre locks, not only that but the really powdery residue doesn’t make my hair feel clean. So I was already thinking that the 2 in 1 may not be a new favourite given my past experience with the brand, however it does come with one key word on the tin which gave me hope, ‘Invisible’.

The latest selection of dry shampoos come in three different scents, I opted for the Cocoa and Cashmere, as the others were more vanilla and passionflower (I don’t like vanilla scents) and Orange and Passionfruit (I don’t love tropical fruit scents), I’ll start by saying I really hate the scent. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s a really sickly chocolate, with a weird powdery scent.

The can describes the product as giving a freshness to the roots, whilst targeting dryness with conditioning the mid lengths down to the ends where needed. One thing I have noticed several times when I’ve taken the cap off the lid is that it seems to leak, with a noticeable amount of watery residue which makes me think that I must be wasting quite a lot of product as it’s been continuous.

On to the good stuff, the dry shampoo is completely invisible (yay!) and doesn’t leave me feeling like my hair feels dirtier than how it started either. I won’t say that it takes the crown for being the most effective dry shampoo I’ve used, my hair whilst looks fresher it’s not as good as other’s – but it’s certainly not ranked bottom either. I do have to be choosy as to when I use this over others as if my hair is really greasy this just doesn’t cut it, if you have just a little oil you need to counterbalance then you might get along a lot better.

I’m still left a little puzzled about the 18 hour conditioning properties, I’ve started spraying it through my mid-lengths and I really don’t know what it’s doing. My hair doesn’t look or feel more conditioned than it was before, it doesn’t add any shine or texture and although I’ve been persevering, hoping that it was going to become apparent from using it every other day for three weeks I can’t help but feel I’m just wasting the product. I do feel like my hair maybe is a smidge smoother feeling – but there are many other products that are much more effective at delivering that than this.

Overall I like it, I don’t love it – It hasn’t converted me to Batiste, for someone who’s hair turns greasy as quickly as mine does, this just doesn’t cut it enough for me, and the conditioning properties seems like a gimmick to counter the fact that it’s really not the most effective dry shampoo, like it’s giving it more purpose.

Have you tried the newest from Batiste?

Literally ordered this right after reading haha. I know you didn’t love it but I actually do love batiste dry shampoos!! And this one sounds right up my street. Have you tried the Dove dry shampoo? I recommend it to anyone that hates batiste. It feels like an actual shampoo haha I feel like my hair is cleaner after using it and it doesn’t leave residue 🙂 x

I have tried Dove but it didn’t work for me! Wasn’t strong enough to tackle my second day grease, kind of similar to this – did it a bit, but not completely

I’ve tried this one too, in this scent. I agree it’s definitely sickly. I found that it didn’t really make much difference in terms of oil control so I haven’t really been reaching for it. I think it’s an odd product to be honest xx

I agree, I’m trying to use it up just to get it out and declutter it, I used it this morning again after writing it up Monday and was just thinking that it’s done nothing!

Batiste is my favorite dry shampoo. I’ve gone through a dozen cans of it at least. I’ve tried other dry shampoos (Dove, Pssst!, Living Proof) and I just like Batiste the best. The white cast goes away once you work the product in your hair with your fingers.

I’m right there with you on not loving Batiste – the white cast and over-powering scent did it for me.
What’s your current fave dry shampoo? Mine’s the Pantene one – no white cast, no residue, and the scent goes away after awhile. Which reminds me that I need to pick up a new can. 😁

My favourite is the Aussie one, I think Pantene might be one of the few dry shampoos I haven’t actually tried, when I’m through the excessive stash I currently have I’ll give that one a go!
