Collective Haul – March 2017

I’ve had to head into Peterborough City Centre a few times over the past 2 weeks for various wedding chores. Naturally that’s meant whilst I did do what I intended to do whilst there, a quick few pitstops were made along the way into various shops.

Superdrug

I had a quick look in Superdrug whilst I was killing time waiting for Ben to get his hair cut. I happened to spot that they were now stocking Nip & Fab in there. I have heard amazing things about their Glycolic Fix Cleansing Pads, and they were reduced down to just £5 from £12. I also decided to try the bottled version from the same line. I bought these last weekend and have been using the pads nightly so far and I’m impressed so far.

Because I bought two items of premium skincare, I qualified to receive a perfume sample (I didn’t even know this was running until I got to the checkout), and received the latest Versace perfume in Bright Crystal. I’m going to be giving this a go this month.

MAC Cosmetics

You may remember in my what I got for Christmas Haul I received a MAC Voucher, I’ve been awaiting the MAC Reflects Glitters (0nly stocked online & in Pro Stores) to come back in stock since November as I’ve fallen in love with the one that I had and they still haven’t – the voucher was starting to burn a hole in my pocket so I decided to go and take a look without any predetermined plans on what I was looking for.

march-2017-collective-haul-mac-boots-cco-2

First up I picked up a new lipstick from Liptensity range, I have Dionysus which I love, but it’s a wintery wine colour and I’m now fully waiting for spring and I haven’t been reaching it for it very often over the past few weeks. I was very tempted to pick up Smoked Almond which I’ve been eyeing for ages – but decided to go for Claretcast a gorgeous wearable bright pink with a hint of red undertone. Keep your eyes peeled for a review as I’m planning on cracking this one out immediately!

Next up I was playing with their Dazzleshadows which I’ve never owned any from. There was one shade I wanted that was out of stock, and the Sales Assistant showed me this one that was a similar tone (although they didn’t have any out to swatch, so I trusted her and gambled), Googling Swatches they are no where near the same shade – however I still know I will get a lot of wear from this coppery orange pink shade called ‘Let’s Roll’  . These are like colour shifting pressed glitters that work best layered over other eyeshadows. It will give me the effect I wanted from the Transparent Reflects glitters I had been waiting to come back in stock forever.

When I got to the till, I was offered a choice of samples and I picked a Mascara, I never end up buying MAC mascaras (as I’m perpetually topped up from beauty boxes) but whenever I end up with a mascara sample from MAC I tend to love it. This is the In Extreme 3D Black Lash – sounds like all the qualities I want from a mascara so I already am dying to give this a go!

CCO

march-2017-collective-haul-mac-boots-cco-5

My Local CCO is very hit and miss at the moment, they don’t have as good as a selection every time I go in. This time they came through, they had a decent selection of OPI shades and they were on 3 for 2. I spotted one shade, ‘Oh My Majesty’ from last year’s Alice in Wonderland which I’ve heard amazing things about it, but couldn’t find it anywhere, so I snapped it up – I had even been considering getting the Gel version of it as I could still find that easily. It’s a gorgeous white shade with an almost Opalesque subtle shine, I’m already wearing this and I love it. I picked a second one from the Alice Collection and went for the classic Alice Dress Blue called ‘The I’s Have It’, I don’t have another shade like this that’s a pure mid blue, they’re all more periwinkle coloured. Lastly the main bulk of the other OPIs were from the Hawaii collection, I have several of this collection in mini form thanks to a nail related disaster whilst heading on holiday which meant I had to buy a mini set on the plane to holiday, so I picked one shade which I didn’t think I had as a mini, a pretty muted orange cream called ‘Is Mai Thai Crooked?’.

Boots

Lastly I stopped into Boots, I am dying to dye my hair a bright colour, but need something really non-temporary pre-wedding as I don’t want lingering shades of green or pink. I decided to get one of the new Colorista dyes from L’Oreal, which vary per shade but should mean it shouldn’t last more than 15 washes (so about 3-4 weeks for me). I opted for the shade Violet, which is gorgeous bright mid blue, I am going to do a little patch test underneath my hair first and see how it washes for a week before I put it all over, just in case it ends up lasting better than it should!

march-2017-collective-haul-schwarzkopf-color-expert-omegaplex-1

I spotted a load of new haircare ranges and got two colour treatments from Schwarzkopf, these are formulated with Omegaplex, sounds a lot like the famous Olaplex which has worked wonders for my hair when I’ve had it treated in the salon. I had been thinking about buying Olaplex 3, which is the at home treatment stage, but decided to try the Schwarzkopf treatment and condtioner, because at a mere £3.99 each, they’re a lot more purse friendly than the £30 price tag that Olaplex has.

I really love the packaging of the MAC products, but I feel like MAC has fallen behind other brands. What do you think?

    • March 6, 2017 / 7:54 am

I think rather than fallen behind other brands have caught up, when I first started reading blogs it was all about MAC for everything and everyone, other brands see to have stepped up their game. I do think in the tail end of last year and this year MAC have gone back to ‘MAC at their best’ with more interesting and creative releases than we’ve seen for a few years.

That’s true! I hadn’t thought about it that way but definitely. I hope they keep on going this way.

I’ve been eyeing that Versace perfume for years but I never get around to actually buying it – probably because 90% of my money is spent on makeup, heh.

Having dyed my hair every color under the sun I’m going to forewarn you blue is insanely difficult to get rid of! However hopefully the L’oreal range wash out pretty well. I recently picked up a couple of new Mac lipsticks too, and got the same mascara sample which I’m loving!

Yes, there’s no way I’d be putting a blue directions dye on my hair right now, hence why I’m tip toeing with caution and only going to do a little section. All the different colours from this range had different amounts of wash lengths and this shade was one of the lowest, so fingers crossed it turns out to be true and I don’t end up with a blue piece of hair stuck in my hair!
Ooh I’m even more excited to try that mascara now!

What a fun haul! The lipstick from MAC looks gorgeous, eagerly awaiting the review! I’m interested to hear your thoughts on the mascara sample too! The light blue OPI shade looks stunning and I hope we get to see a picture of your hair with the dye x

I really want to know how you get on with that hair dye! I want to do mine but I have had my hair highlighted so I’ve got no idea how it will take!! Don’t want to look like a patchy smurf! Xxx

Ooh MAC Claretcast looks really pretty. I can already picture you wearing it! 🙂
*cries* You’re so lucky you have access to CCO! I got OPI Oh My Majesty last month, it’s so pretty in real life.
No shopping for me last month and this month… I`ll just live vicariously through you!

    • March 6, 2017 / 6:11 pm

Whilst I got quite a bit I ended up using my points and my gift cards meaning all this cost me about £10!
Our cco sounds better than it is, it has mostly w7, and stila (which it’s all baby blue eyeliners and stuff that’s clearly not bought) the rest is mostly discontinued high street stuff, best scores I made there were my Becca brushes but I’ve never seen Becca back since I got those about 4 years ago!

What a fab haul! That lipstick looks beautiful! I can’t wait to see the colourista on you. I want all those Alice polishes! Xxx

  10. March 7, 2017 / 12:17 am

Love the haul! The MAC shadow is stunning. I wish we’d get CCOs here!

  11. March 7, 2017 / 4:33 am

I love all three polishes you picked up! Is Mai Tai Crooked? does have a bit of a tricky formula, I found it better to “float” the polish on. Over-manipulating it made it streaky. The color is totally worth it :]

  12. March 7, 2017 / 8:31 am

Fab haul Rachael, you picked up some real goodies! Interested to see how the hair turns out – I want to put some bold colour in mine but with it being so dark it only shows up if I bleach it, which I’m trying to avoid!

  15. March 12, 2017 / 11:20 pm

I love what you picked up! I haven’t seen nip and fab in Superdrug so I must check my local store see if we have this! I have been eyeing up the hair dye too, considering if to take the plunge, but I ill have to wait until easter when I have some time off work! Great post xx

That lipstick is 😍😍 such a beautiful shade. I love that formula too! I am so intrigued by the new hair dyes too – contemplating dip dye so I can use stuff like that! 💕
