February 2017 Empties

It seemed like my Empties box was filling up fast this month, and was at the point where it was beginning to overflow, I thought I’d have to split the post up into a few posts, but there just a few chunky items that were misleadingly filling out the box making it look fuller than what it was. I had a few other items which I thought I was going to finish up this month, I decided I probably wasn’t going quite to finish them – and typically on the last day of the month (I photographed these a few days before so I could get it up promptly at the start of the month) I did manage it.

Radox Replenishing and Antibacterial Hand Soap

I’m so glad this one is empty, why does it take so long to finish up hand soaps? This one Ben picked out when he was in charge of the food shop one week. I didn’t find this replenishing, but it’s nice that it’s antibacterial, there was nothing wrong with the scent, although I definitely think this was a ‘man choice’, but I was just fed up of the sight of the bottle and how it smelled by the end of it.

Repurchase: I wouldn’t chose it, but Ben might do again

Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint Handcream

Stashy kindly sent me this as an extra when I was one of the winners in her favourite things giveaway last year. Knowing that I’m the head of the UK “WHY IS THERE STILL NO BBW” here committee. I kept this ’til Christmas time when it came in as my go for on the go, as the peppermint was sweet like Candy Canes. The only thing I didn’t like about this was that the packaging started rubbing off so it became a little messy and flaky, I ended up leaving it on my desk at work. No one could work out where the minty smell kept coming from and I liked making people think they were crazy by not saying anything.

Repurchase? “WHY IS THERE STILL NO BBW”

The Body Shop Glazed Apple Body Scrub (review)

I ended up with lots of different body scrubs in the shower recently after deciding that this wasn’t my favourite and I had to force myself to put those away and use this one up and get it gone as the tub was starting to look a bit grubby. A very light exfoliator, wasn’t harsh enough even for me – smelt lovely but just not effective enough.

Repurchase: Can’t as LE, but wouldn’t anyway.

L’Occitaine Amande Shower Oil

Bloody love this stuff, and I’m really surprised that I managed to stretch out using this sample for two months since it arrived in my December My Little Box. I’d love to repurchase this, but it’s not in the pre-wedding budget to do so right now, but I will gratefully have a forth sample size of it if any beauty boxes would like to include it.. I love how this shower oil feels on the skin, it’s luxurious and the scent also smells good enough to eat.

Repurchase: One day yes, but for now praying it magically appears on my doorstep!

Seche Vite Topcoat

I love the high shine that Seche Vite Gives, I love how fast Seche Vite dries. I do not like that the brush does not reach the bottom of the bottle easily and wastes about a third of the product with every bottle, and I do not like that it does goopy after a short while.

Repurchase? Not for a while at least, have discovered I’ve been stockpiling topcoats on a recent polish organisation, and I’m not sure I love it as much as I used to, we’re on a mutually agreed breakup for now.

Ciate Mint Choc Pot

I bought this in TK Maxx and how disappointed I was. I’m not a big fan of Ciate Polishes so decided to try their nail care, unfortunately this doesn’t smell of mint chocolate it smells of sweet nail polish remover, and the sponge was pretty dry from the get go, I can’t have used this more than 5 times before it no longer had the ability to remove polish any more.

Repurchase? Nooooope

Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer (review)

If you saw my Instagram Stories when I was packing my hen party makeup, you would have seen me saying I’ve had this for ages, and it just doesn’t end. That was the magic curse as the gift that kept giving,  ceremoniously stopped. Probably my favourite concealer ever, this is the lightest shade which I use under the eyes, but I plan on getting the darker one to try for concealing spots as well. The only makeup product I used up this month, surprising.

Repurchase: Yes, if I don’t have a new one by the end of the week I’ll be surprised

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo

Between using the Salon Science line this has been my go to, I haven’t used this in years and I picked it up at the latter end of last year after using it at my Mums and remembering how much I used to love it. Smells great, makes my hair feel really soft.

Repurchase? Already have

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Conditioner

This was another one of Ben’s grocery shopping choices, quite liked this one from Tresemme, I found the Keratin smoothed over split ends better.

Repurchase? Yes

february-2017-empties-7

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo

My all time favourite Dry Shampoo, completely clear, leaves no residue & hair smelling fresh. This is in every other empties so I won’t declare my love for it for a twentieth time.

Repurchase: I currently have 4 dry shampoos in the cupboard, so no, but as soon as I need one, yes!

Batiste Stylist Hold Me Hairspray

I received this in a My Little Box in the last six months of this year, I forced myself to use this up over my favourite one from Schwarzkopf. The effect of this wasn’t too bad, but .

Repurchase? Nope

Boots Ingredients Lotus Flower and Tiger Lily Sheet Face Mask (review)

I quite enjoyed this new addition from Boots, and is an easy way to get hold of a slice of Korean Skincare on the highstreet at an inexpensive price.

Repurchase: I’ll probably try another from the range for my face mask friday series, but rarely repuchase masks because of that reason!

My Little Beauty Moonrise Makeup Remover

Received in November last year’s MLB, I’m surprised I got through this, at one point I did debate squeezing it down the sink. I didn’t find this did anything for me, pegged as a makeup remover it did nothing for me but smell nice and taste sweet. Left me with massive black panda eyes and just generally not looking or feeling like it had removed any drop of makeup. Strangely my friend Joyce, is getting on well with it!

Repurchase: Can’t, but no anyway.

Tony Moly Tea Tree Mask (review)

This is to represent the tea tree mask the Makegolli one was in last month’s empties! Ben threw away my packet whilst I was on the hen do! Reviewed recently so won’t go too indepth, but I did like this mask I found it calming on my skin.

Repurchase: Unlikely

Garnier Micellar Extra Gentle Cleansing Wipes

I was feeling lazy in January so picked these up to keep on my bedside table as I kept being really unbothered to take off my makeup at night and kept just collapsing. These are the first Micellar dosed wipes I’ve tried and I liked them, I thought they were a little dry though so ran through the packet pretty quickly as I was needing to use more than one at a time!

Repuchase? Maybe

That’s this month’s empties done and dusted… How much did you use up in February?

I love the L’Occitaine Amande Shower Oil! I don’t think I can justify buying it but I seem to be gifted a sample every few months which is very nice indeed.
I have the Totally Twisted BBW hand cream from Stashy too! It smells so delicious! I’m always tempted to buy a mint-hot chocolate afterwards.

  2. March 1, 2017 / 6:11 am

The Bourjois concealer sounds lovely! I have a huge bottle of the Tresemme shampoo and conditioner, I don’t dislike it but I’m excited to change lol

    • March 1, 2017 / 8:29 am

I must have tried about 30 dry shampoos now and it’s still the one I keep going back to, it’s the only one that’s truly clear and makes my hair look clean!

  3. March 1, 2017 / 12:48 pm

I love reading Empties post I think they are my favourite to read. I really want to try Aussie products they seem to smell so good!

      • March 1, 2017 / 4:44 pm

Me too, you get a real idea of what the product is like as apposed to a review xo

      • March 1, 2017 / 4:48 pm

Ooh I know that situation. I was trying to find it today and they didn’t have pale colours. But I found one from Catrice it is sooo good. You can look for it on my blog. I have just reviewed it 🙂

  4. March 1, 2017 / 2:17 pm

That The Body Shop apple one must smell so good! Sorry it didn’t work out for you. I keep looking for nice-smelling shower gels/creams to make bathtime a better experience.

    • March 1, 2017 / 4:32 pm

It smells amazing, it was okay, I just prefer something a bit scrubbier – wouldn’t rebuy it, but didn’t begrudge using it either! Having nice smelling things in the shower makes all the difference! xx

  5. March 1, 2017 / 2:48 pm

Lovely blog post with great detail! x

  6. March 1, 2017 / 4:18 pm

I’ve got quite a big box for this month too and I’ve already finished something up this morning for March! woo! well done Rach, you’re doing great and I love your empties posts xxx

    • March 1, 2017 / 4:31 pm

I was so close to finishing one of the Garnier creams – and I finished up the Salon Science Shampoo and Conditioner yesterday, but I’d already photographed it all at the weekend so it was too late! Looking forward to seeing what you finished up! xxx

  7. March 1, 2017 / 6:19 pm

I am also a member of the BBW petition commitee! Why do we not have it here! Vanilla Bean Noel is an amazing Christmas scent they do and I’ve been using my bits up very slowly!
You can get a product from Seche Vite which thins the product slightly so it doesn’t get so gloopy! 💕💕

    • March 1, 2017 / 7:22 pm

The other scent stashy sent me was a vanilla bean Noel body lotion, I’m not normally a vanilla fan but that warm christmassy edge was ahhhhmazing!
Yeah I know you can, I just don’t think I’d use it enough to splash the cash on it, I use gel most of the time now anyway, so would probably be a waste!

  8. March 1, 2017 / 8:34 pm

I was wondering about the Ciate Mint Choc Pot- too bad it’s a “nah”

  9. March 1, 2017 / 11:43 pm

I still need to try that Bourjois concealer as I’ve heard so many great reviews of it. I need to try that Aussie dry shampoo too! X

    • March 2, 2017 / 7:47 am

You definitely need to try the bourjois, they had offers on bourjois in both superdrug and boots yesterday, but when I went they had sold out of the concealer shade I needed!

  10. March 1, 2017 / 11:47 pm

I’ve just started using the Aussie shampoo and conditioner…I’m loving it…I really need to get my ’empties’ post done now we’re in March!! x

This is such a unique idea! I love it!

That BBW Twisted Peppermint handcream looks like it’s been through war! XD Glad you enjoyed it to the last drop! And sorry BBW hasn’t wised up to the UK market yet – what gives?

I have a sample bottle of the L’Occitaine Amande Shower Oil – can’t wait to try it. I’ve heard great things about it but worried about falling in love with it…

What top coat are you using now that you’re finished the Seche Vite?

Hmm maybe when I’m done my Nars concealer, I’ll give the Bourjois one a try.

I’ve noticed that drugstore brands are starting to offer Korean skincare stuff too, it’s nice to get them easily and affordably too.

    • March 2, 2017 / 7:44 am

Currently using the leighton Denny topcoat, I think it’s called crystal finish but it doesn’t say on the bottle so I’m not actually sure!
Yes to trying the bourjois, I don’t think it would be as full coverage as NARS, it’s a solid medium but it’s so fresh looking on the skin. I do want to try NARS but need to be able to get to a counter to figure out my colour and there’s none close to me 🙁

That top coat is my absolute favorite!! I use it every time I do an at-home mani and it looks like I have gel polish on. I gotta try the other stuff you mentioned! x

        March 4, 2017 / 4:13 am

Yeah, it does get gloopy!! That’s the worst part about it. I hardly do at-home manicures now.

  14. March 2, 2017 / 1:59 pm

The shower oil by L’Occitane is one of my favourite bath time indulgences. And Aussie are fab – they all smell gorgeous. I’ve recently picked up the Bourjois concealer and bloody love the stuff too.

Definitely need to try the aussie shampoo it sounds perfect! I can’t wait to try the radiance concealer xxx

    • March 3, 2017 / 1:36 pm

I love Aussie, It seems to be a bit of a Marmite product, it feels quite sticky intially, but once brushes out it’s perfectly clean feeling and looking! I tried to restock on the Radiance reveal concealer yesterday, there was only one tube left and it had been opened. Going to try again tomorrow when I go into town, I think you’ll like it! xx

Fab i love a clear dry shampoo! Ah that’s a shame its obviously popular! Xx

  16. March 10, 2017 / 11:30 pm

Empties are one of my favourite posts to read, I love the honesty of if the product is going to be repurchased and I think using up the full product really does give the best insight on if to repurchase or not! Great post xx
