Look Incredible February 2017 – Regular vs Deluxe

Look Incredible February 2017 – Regular vs Deluxe

If you saw my post last month on my roundup of the Look Incredible boxes after a year of being subscribed, you will have already known that I’d decided that after trying their deluxe version of the box for the first time last month I was going to try out both versions of the boxes again before deciding which to continue with going forward.

I try and skim over this part quickly as for people who’ve been reading for ages it saves being repetitive. Look Incredible is a premium monthly beauty box subscription priced at £21.99 (inc delivery) for the regular box and £34.99 for their deluxe box (inc free delivery). There’s no sample sizes in this box with everything being a full sized product. The boxes tend to be more makeup focussed however there are often one or two skincare/tools out of five products. Both of the boxes tend to arrive on the second Friday of the month so it was a bumper post day for me when they arrived.

Let’s decide which to keep…

Regular Box

Nails Inc Westbourne Park Road Nail Kale (RRP £15)

I’ve never really got on with Nails Inc, and I can’t tell you when the last time I actually bought one of their products was, yet they always come in boxes. This is a pretty nude with taupe undertones, I’ve not tried the Nail Kale range from Nails Inc yet, so I’ll try them out again.

Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Liner (RRP £22)

look-incredible-february-2017-deluxe-vs-regular-brow-liner-duo-studio-10

A brand that I’ve not heard of before, but it seems to be part of the Umbrella of the Look Good, Feel Better brushes. This is a dual ended brow liner with mid brown pencil on one end and a pale concealer like shade on the other end to sharpen up the edges.

Korres Mango Butter Lipstick in Rose Sauvage (RRP £9.99)

look-incredible-february-2017-deluxe-vs-regular-korres-mango-lip-butter-rose

A really gorgeous rose nude ‘your lips but better’ shade from Korres, with SPF 10 and a buttery formula, a total me shade that I’m really happy to try, I don’t think I’ve tried any lip products from Korres in the past.

Fresh Face Essence with Green Coffee (RRP £20)

look-incredible-february-2017-deluxe-vs-regular-fresh-green-coffee-essence

The second Fresh product that’s been in the box recently. Described as a revitalising and hydrating essence with the anti-oxidant powers from rich green coffee to shield and rejuvenate cells and brightening micro-spheres (answers on a postcard please) to tone and smooth skin. I have no bloody idea where an essence is meant to come in a routine, but I can’t wait to try this out – it smells fresh and lovely.

Coastal Scents Revealed Smokey Palette (RRP £20)

look-incredible-february-2017-deluxe-vs-regular-coastal-scents-revealed-smoky look-incredible-february-2017-deluxe-vs-regular-coastal-scents-revealed-smokey

I’ve not tried anything from Coastal Scents before, so I was so excited to see that this was in the box. A gorgeous selection of 20 shades in a mixture of mattes, satins and shimmers in tones of neutrals, golds, greys, darkened jewel tones. This has the potential to become my new favourite palette.

Deluxe Box

Burberry Sheer Shadow in Shade 24/ Mulberry (RRP £23.00)

I have a few Burberry polishes but I’ve not gotten around to trying anything else from the brand. I’ve heard good things about Burberry powder products (their blushes are on my list to try this year), and this shade  of shadow looks set to become a favourite. A gorgeous shimmery cranberry/plum.

Nails Inc Matchbox (RRP £15.00)

Made with beauty influencer (and one directioner sister) Lottie Tomblinson. Like already said I don’t really like Nails Inc polishes, however I’m willing to give this another go. The polish is a gel effect formula in the shade Mint (a northern British word meaning something’s good!) and a matching matte lip paint in the shade Babes. This rosey nude shade is right up my street for both nails and lips so I’m looking forward to trying them out.

NARS Club Mix (RRP £15.00)

A bit annoyed at the inclusion of this, given that I received this in the regular version of the box back in March last year, so immediately it’s one for the giveaway pile. NARS Club Mix is a wearable metallic dark plum nude.

Laura Gellar Spackle Fortified Makeup Primer (RRP £25)

I’ve had the regular version of Laura Gellar’s Spackle as my go-to to finish up for the past few months, I’m almost at the end so happy to have another version to try. The Fortified edition contains added skincare benefits to sooth skin, improve elasticity, fight signs of ageing and detoxify skin. Sounds great, keeping this as my next to try out.

Studio 10 I Lift Longwear Liner in Mocha (RRP £22)

look-incredible-february-2017-deluxe-vs-regular-eye-liner-duo

A double ended liner described as a pick me up for the eyes and a smudge free, waterproof and highly pigmented formula. One end is a gorgeous Mocha which can also be used smoked out as shadow, whilst the other end is a brightening nude shade.

So which to keep, I decided to compare the value of the boxes in chart form again

file-page1

So yet again despite being £13 more yet again the Deluxe version of the box offers a less impressive Return on Investment. I really like both of this months boxes but I think they’re pretty comparable, two of the brands appear in both boxes with products worth the same in each, the NARS Club Mix pencil has previously appeared in the regular version of the box (as has another shade too). I think occasionally I might feel like “oh I wish I got the Deluxe version this month”, however given the brands often cross over in both boxes I don’t think in general I’ll feel like I’m missing out for it being one I’m not paying extra for.

I still feel like Look Incredible is the best value box there is and I’ll always prefer paying a bit more to actually get full size products. I think standalone looking at the Deluxe box it looks like a great value box, but there’s something that makes me feel cheated when I compare it against the value of the regular box. Maybe I’m being unfair, I can’t work it out.

For now I’m going back to the regular box,  I may resub to the deluxe one again post wedding, but for now I feel like the deluxe box needs to up it’s game – it’s little sister is showing it up.

Which is your favourite the regular or deluxe box?

I haven’t had a subscription to a box in so long because I just felt the products weren’t worth the money I was spending! However I have recently been thinking about getting a new subscription, but trying to find something more skin and hair care based and less makeup ☺️

This is such an amazing box!! I remember when Coastal Scents used to be the only thing I would buy because their eyeshadows were so darn inexpensive!

I love the products in the regular box! The deluxe one is pretty good but they do seem similar, for thag many similarities the regular one is much better value. The colour of that solo Nails Inc polish is gorgeous.

Great box especially the Coastal Scents palette, the Burberry eye shadow (I have that shade! It’s great), the Korres lipstick! If I convert the cost of these 2 boxes, it would be close to C$100… I couldn’t justify that for a monthly subscription for things I may or may not use…

No I didn’t plan on keeping both on a permanent basis, in general I don’t think there’s really been any items I’ve not used as the colour selections are usually not crazy or weird but I get what you mean. I’m going to ditch the deluxe one for now, it’s not impressive enough for the price!

Oh wow! The deluxe version looks incredible – I’d be happy with full sized Burberry and NARS for that price. I actually tweeted about those Nails Inc sets last week saying how cute they were! Both boxes seem like really good value and have some fab bits in them to be honest, it would be hard to choose!

I find it a bit weird that they have an overlap of brands! I’m intrigued to see what you think of the Laura geller primer. I always like the sound of the products but think the packaging just looks the cheapest ever! Not the best boxes I’ve seen but definitely not the worst! Xxx

The regular one does seem much better I’d be well happy with that for the price! That palette looks gorgeous!! xxx

From posts I read, I found Look Incredible boxes one of the most interesting as they usually feature brands I want to try. The only thing is I just don’t want to subscribe even for only 3 months:-)))

    • February 12, 2017 / 6:41 pm

They do only offer 1 month subscriptions so you can just try one month then cancel, they don’t currently do cheaper packages for multi month purchases πŸ™‚

I’ve not seen much about this beauty box, and while, like you say, both versions of the box look amazing as stand alone, I was surprised to see so much cross over! I really like the look of the regular box and think it looks like the sort of thing I may want to subscribe to when I do decided to pick up a new subscription, so I cant wait to do a little more research and find out more about them!

  10. February 13, 2017 / 8:49 am

I’ve never tried a beauty box as I can’t really afford them at the moment, but it was fascinating to see your breakdown of what was inside. I do agree with you that if you can get some products in either of the boxes it does make the Deluxe box seem less special.

  11. February 13, 2017 / 12:16 pm

I’ve just unsubcribed from GlossyBox because it’s so disappointing. Definitely tempted to join Look Incredible, it looks a lot better value for money and the products are actually full size!!

    • February 13, 2017 / 12:22 pm

I Unsubbed from glossybox about 2 years ago now, when I signed up it had products like illamasqua and NARS and by the end I was lucky if I got a Carmex lip balm!
I’d rather spend an extra few Β£s and get enough product to actually use, unlike birchbox or glossybox where it’s small samples!

      • February 13, 2017 / 12:24 pm

I’ve only been subscribed for two months and I was so disappointed! Yeah exactly! It’ll be worth every penny when you get full products and the value for the box is a lot more!

  12. February 14, 2017 / 2:28 pm

These boxes are amazing! Kinda pricey, so even if they were available to me in Canada, I think I’d probably still have to pass.

  13. February 15, 2017 / 8:56 pm

there are some great bits in both boxes, and love how you have done the maths against them! x

For me personally, I’d go for the deluxe box because I feel the products are a bit more useable for me and my style but that’s alwaysthe deal with these boxes, you never know! That palette from the regular box though looks really good, are you providing a full in depth review on that any time soon? πŸ™‚
