What I Got For My Birthday – 2017

I thought I’d do a little ‘what I got for my birthday’ post, as I’m not sure I’ve actually done one before. It was my birthday on Wednesday and it’s the first one I’ve ever had to spend at work (stupid honeymoon and wedding stealing most of my holiday for the year!). Disclaimer, blah blah, not bragging just sharing blah blah.

Debenhams Gift Cards / Redeemed For Foundation
My colleagues kindly gave me some Debenhams Gifts cards that I could use towards some beauty products for blogging! I decided to restock on my favourite foundation of all time, Kat Von D Lock It (Shade Light 47) and also the Illamasqua Skin Base foundation (Shade 6) as I’ve been hearing great things about it recently and wanted to give it a try! I redeemed these Thursday and got them on next day delivery as I desperately wanted a new foundation for a wedding at the weekend as I don’t like anything I have at the moment!

Next Gift Card
Ben’s parents kindly gave me a next gift card, I don’t buy a lot from next as I find their clothes really odd fitting on my body, one thing I do like from there though is swimwear. I want to get myself at least one new bikini/swimsuit for my honeymoon so once they’re new season stuff is in, I’ll be ordering some online as they never have my cup size in store!

Amazon Gift Card
My Sister gave me an Amazon Gift card, I’d told Ben that if anyone asked what to buy me then Amazon Gift Cards would be preferable as I want to buy a new camera lens and ring light. Unfortunately not many people asked but at least I had something to make a slight dent in it. I decided to treat myself to it, and as I’m writing this it arrived an hour ago. I’ll do a post on it later I’m sure.

HP Sprocket
Before Christmas I told Ben I really wanted a HP Sprocket after seeing it on video of Zoella’s. I like the idea of a Polaroid or Fujifilm camera, but I don’t like how chunky they are to carry around and I don’t think I’d use them much as a result. The HP Sprocket gives the effect and character of a Polaroid but it comes straight from your phone instead. We think we’re going to use this at our wedding to do a guest book with so I’ll keep you posted as to how we get on with it!

Kosta Boda Makeup Glass Ornaments
My Parents gifted me some Glass Makeup ornaments. My mum was telling me that she’d seen them over Christmas and I said ‘oh they sound cool’ but wasn’t expecting to see them wrapped up for me. Theres a glass lipstick, glass nail polish bottle and some lips – all in pink shades. I think these will make some quite cool blog props for backgrounds too. I particularly like the polish bottle, the way it moves in the light depending on the angle it looks quite cool!

Despite being at work this year I had a really nice birthday. Ben took me out for a meal in the evening and my Parents and sister and her partner were there as a surprise (they live about 2 hours away so I wasn’t expecting to see them!).

Happy belated birthday! Hope you had a lovely day – sounds like you did! Gift cards are always a useful present because it takes a lot of guesswork out of what to buy and you can get something you’ll really love! The glass ornaments are adorable x

Thank you, gift cards are great (providing they’re to places that you actually like to shop!) – I got lucky this time and will actually be able to spend them all. x

Do you have a review on the lock it foundation? I’m really intrigued by it! Also can’t wait to see what you think of the illamasqua skin base too! Xx

What fab gifts! The Sprocket is so cool and something I’ve had my eyes on for a while I can’t wait to see how you get on! The glass ornaments are so cool I’ve never seen something like that before! So glad you had a lovely day 🙂 xxx

Awww happy belated birthday love! So so jealous of the Sprocket!! I want one so badly, polaroid cameras are so chunky I agree so it’s the perfect solution. Love this post xoxo

Thanks so much – A Polaroid Camera would take up most of my handbag, a Sprocket is small enough to take with you, but because it’s not instant you don’t have to bother either!

Illamasqua Skin Base is great! A word of warning though – it’s very pigmented and the best way to apply is with a damp beauty blender type sponge. Otherwise it can look cakey.
Never heard of HP Sprocket… sounds like fun.
Gift cards are always the best gifts!
Oh man, that giant bottle of nail polish ornament – like pop art!
    Enjoy your birthday goodies!

I kind of want lots of colours of the polish, think they’d look awesome lined up!
I used it with a buffing brush today for the first time and I liked it, haven’t tried it with a beauty blender (quo sponge) yet though!

I really want one of those Sprockets! Great birthday pressies!

I love the guest book idea, and now I sort of want a Sprocket – but I just hate it when the paper is too expensive for these gadgets! I have a MASSIVE Fujifilm Wide which is wider than my face but the paper is too expensive again.. 🙁

Love this, and happy belated birthday! 😀 xx
