Tili Beauty Box – Third Edition – Review & Unboxing

The second QVC Tili Box feels like an absolute age ago, The third edition of the box was slightly over 3 months for it’s quarterly release. If you’re unfamiliar QVC launched their answer to the Beauty Box market in summer last year, Tili (standing for Try It, Love It) is £20 including P&P and you get to see what’s inside before buying. It’s not a subscription box, you have to hop on every time and buy and they seem to get more and more popular each time and they seem to sell out quicker.

I must say that I almost didn’t order this third edition. There’s a total of 10 items this month but I feel like the sample sizes are quite mixed this time and overall the contents I feel slightly less fussed about. Tili teased the contents of the box in the 9 days running up to it’s release and if it wasn’t for the last two items they shared it would have been a pass for me.

This months box feels ready for spring in it’s colour, it’s very, very mint.

First up is Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, a polish which I don’t actually own but is a real classic shade. This is the second time in just three boxes that Essie has appeared, I’m not necessarily annoyed at that but given QVC also stock other brands such as Leighton Denny (there was a LD topcoat in the first box) and OPI it would have been nicer to see a bit more of a share the love over different brands. Mint Candy Apple is not really my kind of a shade, a pastel mint green, but given it’s probably their most famous shade I do think it’s filled the want I had to get it at some point!

Next up is a sample tube of Phillip Kinglsey Elasticizer, I’ve had so many samples of this in different boxes in the past and never got on with it! I’m willing to give it another try though. This is a repairing pre-shampoo treatment in a special Coconut Breeze edition which has notes of bergamot, orange, peach, jasmine, vanilla & unsurprisingly coconut. At least if it doesn’t work it should make my hair smell great though right? Will keep you posted.

Not one but two body washes in the box this time (part of the reason I was a bit less bothered!) One from Molton Brown, with their Dewy Lily of the Valley and Star Anise Bath & Shower Gel (what a mouthful!). The second was the Skin Wash from the Australian Bodycare line, I’ve heard about Australian Body Care but I don’t know a lot about it. It’s described on the card as ‘designed for use for the whole family’, refreshing and cleansing to leave the skin hydrated and calm with 2% tea-tree.

This is probably the item that I’m most excited in the box to try. I’ve not had the pleasure of trying anything from the brand This Works yet, but it’s always surrounded by great reviews. The This Works In Transition Camera Close up is a three in one mask, moisturiser & primer, working to reduce signs of visible lines, mask fatigue, boost hydration, plump skin to fully prep the skin so that it’s ready for photo perfect makeup. Can’t wait to try this it sounds too good to be true.

I thought I may have had the Gentle Foaming Face Wash in the past from Elemis as I do have a gentle cleanser from them in my cupboard from a present a couple of years ago. But this is described as a foaming cream cleanser which I haven’t had before. I generally like Elemis products so I’m looking forward to trying this. I may actually test this as it’s a decent size to keep as a travel sized one for honeymoon, I’ll just have to see how well it removes makeup in a trial first as I only want to take one with me that can do everything!

This is a tiny sample size of the Pixi Glow Tonic, a product that probably needs no introduction thanks to it’s cult status. This is a glycolic acid toner which promises to reveal a brighter, firmer and glowing complexion. I must admit I thought this was going to be their mini sized 100ml bottle rather than this 15ml bottle. One of my friends was asking about this recently and my thoughts on it so I’m actually going to give it to her to try – Annie if you’re reading this, sorry thought it was a bigger sample when I said don’t order it!

The last skincare item (phew!) is the Delecore Aromessence Madarine Oil, described as a multitasking serum and oil in one. Designed to calm, smooth and hydrate the feel of your complexion with Lemon, Bergamot and Hazelnut, Camellia and Sunflower Plant Oils. Again I think this will be a good product to keep aside for the long haul plane travel for the honeymoon (13 hour flight to KL!). When I saw that this was called Aromaessence I thought immediately it was going to have Lavender in so I’m pleased it doesn’t.

First of the makeup items is the Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick, described as smudge resistant cream formula it sounds great for those days when you’re low on time and need something fuss free. I’ve not tried anything from Mally before but have seen it demonstrated many a time on QVC so I hope this will be good. I’ve finished up most of my neutral shaded shadow sticks so I’m actually pleased that this was in the box and it was the tipping point to convince be to get it. There was three shades available in this and I received the shade Moonlight – a pretty pale shimmery champagne gold with fine iridescent glitter.

Last up is the Doll 10 Lip Velvet, again there was one of three shades in the box and mine was the shade Fashionista, a pretty Nude colour. Described as a rich non sticky mousse that applies like a gloss but leaves a matte and lightweight velvet finish (sounds like a liquid lip to me… why couldn’t they just say that?!). Another brand to add to my liquid lipstick comparison post that’s going to take me a flipping age to curate!

That’s it! I must say this is my least favourite from the bunch so far, there’s less full sizes than before, and overall the sample sizes feel much less deluxe. Tili’s strong point for me has been full and generous sized samples and this one feels like the kind of sized samples you get in just about every box. I also find it hard to be really enthusiastic when 2 of the products are body washes.

What do you think of this edition of the Tili Box?

This looks so disappointing compared to previous ones! Looks like they’re selling out just like all the others! Xx

Yeah I agree, I wonder whether they’ve had so much demand from the brands that they’ve stocked to be included & whether they have control over what they give them or not. Either way it does feel like it’s slipped for me! xxx

I can understand why you’re disappointed with this one in comparison :/ the ‘This works’ cream sounds good though!! xx

Just went back and looked at the previous two again and oh my god this one is rubbish in comparison!!

I was the same as you, debating whether to buy it. The makeup and elasticizer swung it for me but there feels a lot of skin and body products this time x

I got the last two boxes but decided this one wasn’t for me, as like you said it just didn’t feel as luxe! Hopefully they will yo their game with the next one xxx

I can’t wait for a post on your honeymoon here!

Nice box! Mint Candy Apple is one of the annoying polishes that seems to CHANGE COLOR after some time. I rather stupidly bought two bottles (separate times, duh) and both turned light blue. Argh. Glad yours is still green, LOL!

Essie’s Mint Candy Apple would look really pretty on the toes if you’re not keen to wear it on your nails. πŸ™‚
I’ve heard great things about the Mally Evercolor Shadow Sticks, and the shade you got looks really wearable too!
I’m most curious about the This Works product too! I look forward to your review.
Eh, 15ml sample for the Pixi Glow Tonic – how rude of them!

Never heard of this company until now. Looks like a great haul!

I have never heard of this box! I just read the other comments and they said this looks like a disappointment compared to others? I will have to check out your reviews on them! It is nice that you get some cult beauty favourites in it and I have always wanted to try something from pixi and thisworks but I often like these kind of boxes to introduce me to new products rather than ones I have mostly likely heard/bought already!

Ahh brilliant I will read them now! Ahh yeah I can definitely see why anyone would feel a bit miffed with this box in comparison! Thank you πŸ™‚ x
