Tony Moly Makgeolli Purifying Sheet Mask – Face Mask Friday #29

Tony Moly Makgeolli Purifying Sheet Mask

I recently ordered the full set of I’m Real Face Masks from Tony Moly after really liking the Lemon one I tried and reviewed in my last Face Mask Friday post. Having 11 new sheet masks in my collection left me a bit stumped of what to try first (especially as there was so many weird sounding ones… Red Wine any one?), so we’re starting with the Tony Moly Makgeolli Purifying Sheet Mask.

My skin has definitely been going through a bit of a “New Year, New Me” phase since the start of 2017, I can only help that the change is temporary as already it’s bugging me. I’ve had a few small breakouts, on my cheeks, I’ve had patches that are dry one day and then oily the next and I can’t work out what’s responsible for the change. I decided to opt for their skin purifying Makgeolli one described as leaving skin tone look even, radiant and glowing – which I wouldn’t necessarily call that ‘Skin Purifying’ as the name suggests. Now I couldn’t find the type of one I was looking for in all 11 different types of masks but this seemed to at least try and tackle some of my skins issues.

One of the other reasons I had this one the top of my list to try was because I had absolutely no idea what the heck Makgeolli was, it’s a sweet Korean alcoholic drink with a milky colour. I was wondering whether the fluid in the mask would have a milky hue, but it was completely clear. I was also wondering whether it would have an alcoholic type of scent but for it was pretty scentless.

Like the other Tony Moly mask I tried, the Tony Moly Makgeolli Purifying Sheet Mask is paper type mask which needs leaving on for 20-30 minutes. The Lemon one I tried felt much fresher on the face where as this felt just slightly cooling (probably more thanks to where it’s stored in my house than the actual product).

Sadly in terms of it’s effects it did nothing for me. It didn’t make my skin look more radiant, it didn’t look make me look glowing. It didn’t do anything to help purify (in my terms of purifying) and it didn’t even make my skin feel more moisturised at the end of it. Overall it felt like a waste of a half an hour where I was inconvenienced in wearing it.tony-moly-makegolli-sheet-mask-skin-purifying-review-face-mask-friday-4

Sadly the Tony Moly Makgeolli Purifying Sheet Mask one was a dud for me, but given the pack from amazon was about £12 for 11 masks it’s not an expensive mistake. Here’s hoping the others are better.

Have you tried any Tony Moly masks?

No not yet, I plan to get some more bits from them this year once I’ve finished up a few other bits.
That red wine one is next on my list to try – I’ve heard mixed thoughts from people on it as to whether it did anything for them or not!

Lol the red wine one wasn’t my favorite mask, but definitely paired well with a nice glass of red (:

I haven’t tried any sheet masks from Tony Moly. Too bad this one didn’t work well for you!

I did not like the red wine one! The scent was weird and it wouldn’t stick to my face!! The tea tree and aloe ones are lovely though!! xx

My skin is going through something this January too! I’m so perturbed. Too bad this mask didn’t deliver on its claims – I had such high hopes as I would have run out to buy this. Most of my sheet masks are for hydration / plumping but now I think I should look at ones for clarifying as well.

I got the set of eleven too recently and it’s definitely hard picking the first to try. It’s a pity this one didn’t work for you but hope some of the others do. I had no idea what makgeolli was either, sounds interesting in a face mask.
