Collective Haul – January 2016

I’ve done a few little online shops, a visit to my local department store, TK Maxx and swapping something that I got for Christmas so thought I would just round everything up together.

Tony Moly Mask Set – 11 Sheet Masks

I recently did a face mask friday post with a Tony Moly mask and said I wanted to try more. Someone mentioned they’had bought the full set on Amazon for a fraction of the cost of buying them singularly. I think this will keep my FMF series going for a little while!

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Nautral in Medium Golden

If you saw my what I got for Christmas post then you would of seen that I received Soft and Gentle highlight which I’d only just bought in December so my need for another was completely unwarranted. I went and swapped it for skin finish natural in Medium Golden, when I had my makeup done at the start of December in MAC, the MUA used this as a really subtle contour and I loved it so had it on my list to get. Given it was the same price it was a straight swap so all was fine. I know what I want to spend my voucher I got from MAC on but my local store doesn’t stock what I’ve eyed up and it’s out of stock online so I’m patiently waiting with it burning a hole in my pocket.

Guerlain Nail Polishes – Nuit Mervellious & L’Berre Bleue

I went into my local department store which I haven’t been into in probably about a year. They always do decent discounts on past LE items from designer makeup brands and that day was no exception. I picked my first ever bits from Guerlain with 2 nail polishes reduced from £18 each down to £9.50 – Bargain. I couldn’t believe my luck in finding Nuit Mervellious as it was from their Christmas 2015 collection, it’s a gorgeous bright violet shimmer with a slight blue multichrome hue. L’Berre Bleue is named after one of Guerlains iconic fragrances – it’s a gorgeous raspberry red and in the bottle I notice a very very fine silver shimmer that’s been impossible to pick up on camera. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect raspberry shade since I started wearing polish but have never found one which is both a perfect shade as well as long-wearing, hopefully this will be it.

OPI DS Mystery

Another department store discount I snapped up! This is a gorgeous blackened purple with flaky champagne gold glitter scattered throughout. I don’t have many DS polishes from OPI – I think I just have one, DS Original (which cost me an absolute fortune as it was discontinued!). So I’m looking forward to trying this shade out. This was reduced to a fiver, the swatches online of this look really pretty it’ll be what goes on next on my nails!

Liu Jo Perfume – Scent of Liu Jo

I also bought this from Amazon. I spotted this perfume in duty free whilst we were in Italy but it was really expensive. I know little about Liu Jo, other than I bought myself some sunglasses in Duty free when we went to Egypt – but I have never seen it in stores here. I really loved the perfume so researched it when I got home, I’ve had it in my amazon basket since and noticed it had dropped £10 since I last logged in so I snapped it up. £25 for 30ml wasn’t too bad, and it’s not easy to find. Admittedly I couldn’t remember what it smelt like, but I knew I must have liked it enough to remember to research it and find it when I came home and I’m glad I did because it’s beautiful. It’s very floral but what I like about is that you can smell lots of different floral notes separately in it and it doesn’t just blend into one big smack in the face with a bouquet. Some of the notes are listed as Cardamon, Lemon, Violet, Jasmine & Fig. This is perfume I’m debating keeping for my wedding day and honeymoon and it’s a great size to take away – I like the idea of wearing something new (as fragrances always take me back to a time and place in an instant), and it’s a perfect spring summer perfume.

Eylure Lashes

I picked up a couple of packs of these in my local supermarket as they were being discontinued from the store (maybe everywhere I’m not sure), and had been reduced from almost £6 to £1.40. I don’t wear lashes very often at all, but I swiped up a couple of pairs whilst they were cheap as I have things like Hen Parties coming up where I may be more likely to want some!

Too Faced Selfie Powders

I stopped into TK Maxx to try and get a new dog bed after Dex & Charlie went into kennels for a night and re-emerged having destroyed one of their beds. I’d been talking to Sophie a few days before about TK Maxx never having Too Faced in my store and it naturally made me want to take a look at the makeup selection. I was so lucky, there was clearly a fresh arrival of unswatched makeup. They had the Too Faced Selfie powders which I’ve been intrigued about – but heard mixed reviews about, and the fact they were unswatched meant they went straight with me to the till.

Bareminerals Quad in The Good Life & Duo in The Big Debut

I absolutely love my Bareminerals Quad I got last year and when I spied another and a duo I swiped them both up. The Quads are normally £29, and it was £6.99 – the duos are £20, but was £4.99. I’ve seen these a few times before in store but they’ve either been swatched or they’re just not my colours. Both of these look up my street!

Converse Sunglasses

I also picked up a pair of sunglasses that caught my eye in TK Maxx – and they were a bargain, only £9.99! I’m going to put these by and save them for my honeymoon so I have an unscratched pair to take with me as I always seem to manage to. Cat eye shaped glasses are by far my fave and I’m in love with these! They had a Marc Jacobs case because you just pick your own in TK maxx and there were no matching converse ones (or actual sunglasses from Marc Jacobs!). I actually liked this one in particular because it wasn’t very deep and chunky.

Have you tried anything I picked up before? Is there anything here you want to see pushed to the top of the review pile? I’m slightly overwhelmed with products at the moment!

I always look at buying the full set of Tony Moly masks so I can’t wait for a review on each one. The tomato one sounds very interesting. You get such great bargains at TK Maxx. The store near me is the worst xx

Mine is really hit and miss – often they have great products and I open it to see that someone has swatched it in the most disgusting manner! You just have to respect the makeup in TK Maxx, no swatches – think the area should be manned by beauty security guards personally

Fab deals! I can’t seem to find those Guerlain polishes around anymore – maybe they’ve switched over entirely to the La Petite Robe Noire line. I wanted L’Heure Bleue (my fave frag) when it came out but was disappointed it was red. LOL!

The packaging for the Liu Jo is so elegant!
Can’t wait to hear your thought on Selfie Powders 🙂

It’s such a pretty bottle, that little gem dangles too! Looking forward to trying out the selfie powders too, haven’t worn makeup all week pretty much but as soon as I next do I’m trying them out!

Sigh, optical illusions much! Marc Jacobs for 9.99, I’d shit my pants! 😛

    • January 24, 2017 / 6:50 pm

I know! I shouldn’t have said no one would have noticed the converse logo in thw corner! I almost bought some balmain ones for 24.99 but I actually liked these ones more!

I love MAC MSFN! One of my favourite pressed powders of all time. Sephora makes one that’s identical called MicroSmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder. Price-wise, they’re similar per gram but when Sephora has the VIB sale, it makes it cheaper than MAC’s.
And oooh those Guerlain polishes are gorgeous. I remember that collection from 2015 – that was the year they had the Meteorites with the white star shapes. I almost broke my No-Buy to purchase that – luckily / sadly for me, every place I went to check, they were already sold out! Guerlain polishes have a great formula and I really like their brush too.
Nice score on more bareMinerals eye shadows!

    • January 24, 2017 / 10:19 pm

I love the brush on the Gueralin polishes! I wrote up a review on one of them today and said I really liked the brush size & shape!
The BM shadows were an absolute bargain!
Ahh man that MSF-alike sounds great. Next time I’m thinking about making a sephora order it might get in my basket!

Love the sunglasses! They are so beautiful!! This post really makes me want to dig out DS Mystery and wear it! I always forget about it, but it is a lovely, vampy shade!

    • January 25, 2017 / 9:09 am

They’re gorgeous, they look way more expensive than what I paid for them! I’ve worn DS mystery once so far and really liked how it looked, that off black purple is really unusual colour base + all that gold glitter, gorgeous!

  12. January 25, 2017 / 3:56 am

Ooo I’m really curious about those Guerlain polishes, have never seen anyone talk about them!
