My monthly French beauty box delivery this month caught me off guard, it arrived earlier than usual and the shape of the box was entirely different than normal. This month’s My Little Box had a suitably appropriate theme of ‘Fresh Starts’, I say My Little Box – but this month I should really be referring to it as My Little Bag…
The box this month has totally disappeared, which is why the shape of the delivery had me puzzled at work, it was wider and thinner than usual. The bag is like a giant version of their soft cotton pouches that the beauty items each month normally come in, Instead everything this month arrived inside it. It suggests reusing this for makeup, art supplies or knick knacks. I’m going to keep this for hand for when we’re travelling on our honeymoon as it’s large and flexible so I imagine it might be something useful to separate somethings out as a grab bag as we’ll be moving locations 3 times.
The lifestyle items this month featured three things. The first item I pulled out was a snood, it’s a really pretty navy with a dusky rose taupe, grey and black pattern. Most of my coats will go really well with this and actually as someone who barely takes her scarf off in the office during winter I’ll happily be wearing this through to spring.
Next up was a ‘Timeless Planner’, I absolutely love the design of this – it feels really sleek and reminds me of the original My Little Box I signed up for over 2 and half years ago. It’s a mixture of things to list out such as places you want to visit, things you want to achieve as well as being a ‘dateless’ diary so you can just write down things that are happening. I’ve not kept a diary since I was a teenager, but I’m quite interested in doing this in 2017. I have so many exciting things happening this year, getting married and travelling to Asia for our honeymoon for the first ever time to name just two major things – and quite like the idea of documenting what I’m doing and my feelings this year to look back on when I’m old.
Finally, this one loses me a little as it goes too far into a realm of stuff I struggle to believe in. These are about creating vision boards of your goals and finding your purpose. I don’t like attempting to having my entire life planned out, I don’t think it works that way and this is all some ‘hippy shit’ I’m just not on board with. Plus I think much more exciting things happen in life when you actually live in the moment and stop trying to plan every detail out. Good for you if you’re into it though, cause I ain’t got the time.
First up I pulled out the Boost Yourself Body Cream from My Little Beauty. This is described as an energising body cream – with sunflower seed oil and ginger to energise and soften the skin. It doesn’t have a particularly great smell, it seems unscented other than it’s ‘natural qualities’ but I’m happy to try and brighten up my skin!
Next up I pulled out another My Little Beauty item, it’s not listed on the cards at all – and I’ve never had 2 My Little Beauty items at once so it seems odd. I have also definitely had this in a past box, this is their Easy Morning Day facial moisturiser. I think I’ll be popping this in my box to giveaway as I have facial moisturisers popping out of my ears at the moment and I can’t get near what I already have!
Next up was a little sample of the Garnier Ultimate blends honey treasures hair mask. I have a feeling that this should have been one of the 3 items rather than an extra bonus sample as I don’t think I should have received 2 MLB items. If so I would have been a bit disappointed at the size of this. Definitely a one use product and probably not enough for my hair to give a real trial to. Plus the full size of this isn’t expensive (£4.49 for 300ml) I appreciate it might not have fit in the box, but the value of this sample is about 22p. As a bonus though it is okay I guess!
Last up was a toothpaste from Merci Handy – a french brand I’ve spotted in the box once before with a hand sanitizer. This is a berry flavoured toothpaste and it smells incredible, good enough to eat incredible. I’m really looking forward to trying this out particularly in the mornings when I’m running a bit late and going to eat a cereal bar in the car/down some orange juice. The mintiness combined can be a bit yucky, but a berry flavoured one might leave me my tastebuds with less of a sharp reaction!
I really like the lifestyle items this month, but the beauty products are just ‘okay’ for me – it feels like it did a few months ago and I don’t look at a pile of creams and feel inspired by the contents. Like I said I think I got a mistake in getting 2 MLB products and one of those is a repeat offender, and the Garnier sample is a disappointing size to give a proper test to.
What do you think of this months box… or bag?!
