Face Mask Friday #28 – Tony Moly I’m Real Brightening Lemon Sheet Mask

I’ve been dying to try this mask out ever since I received it in a swap from Chris at FiveZero. Every time I’ve gone to use it, I’ve been reminded that I didn’t have the photos taken of it ready to go so it’s been sadly placed back in my box of treats in favour of other things.

I’ve been desperate to try some bits from Tony Moly – I’ve heard such great things about the Korean brand and much of their product selection I’d consider to be the quintessential type of Asian cosmetics, cutesy and out of the ordinary packaging wise. The masks are available in the UK, although they’re not the easiest to find – they’re available off Cult Beauty priced at £6 each – and occasionally I’ve seen the Toly Moly Masks on the shelves at TK Maxx, but they don’t seem to be a product which are always stocked in them, as when I was trying to hunt down some others in there recently I couldn’t find any.

Over Christmas I finally photographed this and basically put it on my face immediately afterwards. After locating the instructions in English as initially the top half of the packet was all in Korean. The mask instructs to be left on for 20-30 minutes. The sheet itself is very thin and comfortable to wear and is that traditional proper fabric-y sheet texture rather than the ones which are more gel texture-esque.

The serum that floods this packet is much thinner than what I was used to, Initially when putting it on my face it was beginning to drip off onto my pyjamas. The scent of the mask was lemony and fresh, although it wasn’t overbearingly so where strong citrus scents begin to irritate the eyes. In the first 5 minutes or so the mask felt fresh and tingly, between 5 and 10 minutes the skin started to feel like a sightly annoying tingly itch – and then from ten minutes onwards it just felt cooling. I intended to leave this on for the full 30 minutes however at around 20 minutes it started to dry out and peel away from the skin.

I used this mask pre-makeup as a brightening pick me up after too many chocolates and over-indulging on glasses of wine (if there is such a thing) and my skin was looking a bit dull. This did a fantastic job of smoothing and resurfacing my skin, I’d been left with some teeny-tiny pimples and it helped minimise them to virtually nothing, and overall my skin did look brighter and makeup applied very nicely over the top.

Did I notice any long term effects or improvements over the next few days post use? No, but I do think this is a nice temporary pick me up treat for if you want to improve the radiance and texture of your skin for a special occassion.

I’m definitely wanting to try some more Tony Moly masks in future, I’m going to be keeping my eyes peeled in TK Maxx for some others, I’m particularly interested in the red wine mask and the avocado versions.

Have you tried Tony Moly Masks before?

I don’t think that these masks have long term effects to the skin, it’s just like you said ;perfect for a pick me up treat when skin is feeling tired and dull. I love the Tony Moly masks but I don’t remember trying this one. My favorite is the one with avocado, I repurchased it and I am running out so I will place an order again! x

I’ve been wanting to try them for a while but never knew which to get, though they never have them in to maxx near me, didn’t know they ever stocked then so I’ll keep an eye out in the future. I know some of their other products work really well for me and I do love a good sheet mask. I found a store on eBay I’ve bought from before has the set of 11 for about £10 so I’ll make definitely ordering from them. The only thing with Korean beauty is I already want to try more than I should depend! Especially now I’ve found the Tony Moly Pokémon things!

I just tried the red wine one yesterday. It’s been in my stash for months! From using it once I can’t see any real difference in my pores bit I’d try it again☺ x

This is such a great brand and their sheet masks are amazing.
    Great post
Would be really glad if you could check out my recent blog post. Thank you so much

You have time to use a sheet mask before you apply makeup! 😮
I have a couple of Tony Moly sheet masks in my collection but haven’t tried them yet. I’ve never tried a lemon mask though – sounds good. I heard the tomato one is really from Tony Moly.

I had time at Christmas, when I was doing nothing until the evening!
I’ve just bought the full set from amazon so I’ll try the tomato one when it arrives!

This one sounds nice 🙂 I’ve tried the coconut one and I loved it! My skin was literally hydrated for a few days after. My dry patches were gone after using it.
I like the idea of using this mask before makeup. I’ve never tried that before, maybe I should. 🙂

Did you have to order it online?

Omg I’ve looked and looked before and for some reason I never found the full pack lol. I’m probably using the wrong key words but I’ll try again because I want to try them all too. I got hooked with the first one lol

I’ve tried several of the Tony Moly masks. I’m in the US, and I get them at Ulta. I have yet to notice any long term effects, but my skin looks great immediately after, and they are nice when I want to pamper myself.

I keep trying the Tony Moly masks and get no results. I haven’t tried this one though! I’ll have to hunt for it and give it a try.

I’ve never tried their masks! I’m just starting with using sheet masks so this is on my list of brands to try!

Ooh I’m so glad you liked this one! I had a big set and just picked one kind of randomly for you. Well, not that randomly – I think the lemon packaging was cute.

I agree, I find these masks a bit drippy and annoying to use. I haven’t come upon one I really like yet, but they’re fun.

And yes, I know the feeling of not being able to use something because I haven’t photographed it, yet! LOL. Blogger problems.

I now have bought the big set of them! I’ve only tried the Makgeolli one so far which did nothing for me, but I have a new lemon one in backup! I agree they’re quite drippy, the Mackegolli one was slightly better as it was a creamy serum so had a bit more stick to it!
