Illamasqua Glitterarti Nail Polish Review & Swatch

Illamasqua Glitterarti Nail Polish

I’ve been really, really lax with being bothered to paint my nails over the past month or so. Nothing seems to have been lasting on my nails without peeling for more than a couple of days – that includes gel aswell! And my motivation for doing my nails (and the really bloody busy December I had!) meant that I just found that I couldn’t be bothered to do it. Over Christmas and New Year I decided to ‘make the effort’ partially because we were going wedding ring shopping and I wanted to feel a bit more put together and looking at my hand thinking “this looks nice” rather than “yikes you need to sort your life out”. The one I opted for was appropriately festive and one that I’ve been loving for a few months – the Illamasqua Glitterarti Nail Polish.

The shade was Illamasqua Glitterati, one that I didn’t know the orgins of until I just started researching this. I actually purchased this in someones blog sale over the summer, falling in love with a red polish is usual for me, it’s normally one of the last shades I ever reach for, but a shade packed with multi sized holo glitter in always has my name on it. Glitterati was infact a LE polish from 2012, and came in a duo with a shimmery forest blue green called Viridian.

Depending on the light this shifts between being a deeper wine red and a slightly brighter cherry red. The formula of the base is a jelly, so coupled with the holographic glitter it creates a more layered and suspended glitter, with the glitter just peeking through the layers, rather than as it appears in the bottle where it’s permanently stuck to the side. If you’re not the biggest wearer of glitter and prefer something a bit more subtle then this would have been a perfect festive twist if it was still available. I did see when researching someone recently found it at a TJ Maxx so it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for. Whilst it’s been out of production for so long – there’s clearly a few bottles still lingering.

This is almost opaque in one coat but does need a slight second, it glides on the nails very nicely and it’s a polish that applies the glitter evenly by itself rather than one where you have to play with the placement of. This dries pretty quickly, and I added a topcoat to finish the look off and make it as glossy and reflective as possible.

I got so many compliments on this polish whilst I was out shopping between Christmas and New Year – and when people asked where they could get it I was really sad to tell them that they probably couldn’t as it was a limited edition shade. What a shame as it’s glorious and a perfect polish for this time of year, it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for the Illamasqua Glitterarti Nail Polish.

So much glitter in the bottle! I’ve never heard of this shade – I don’t think we got it in North America when it launched. I’ll keep an eye out for it since it doesn’t look too crazy on the nails.
Yeah I always feel bad when someone asks me what I’m wearing and it’s LE…

Love this. I didn’t picture it as having a jelly like look but it’s that bit different and gorgeous x

It looks more glittery inside the bottle but it’s nice that the glitter gets evenly distributed. I’ve seen some with glitter that are a pain to distribute. And this is a very nice color! 🙂

I have this set but have never really jumped for this shade preferring viridian, but i feel inspired to give it another go. I picked them up in TK Maxx about 18 months ago but have seen this set every so often in store. xx

Love this shade! The jelly-like finish makes it look particularly unique, too.

The colour is so pretty and I love ones with that jelly look for glitter as you really see the layers. It’s always a pity when a great product is LE, though it’s always good when LE things make a return or the brand does a similar colour with a new name.
