Current Favourites – December 2016

It’s been a few months since my last favourites and there’s been some standout products I keep finding myself reaching for over and over again!

& Other Stories Punk Bouquet Body Wash

This smells absolutely lovely, sometimes I find myself just opening this up for a quick sniff in the bathroom even if I’m not hopping in the shower. This is described as a frothy vanilla soda on a rebellious rose bouquet. This is sweet and feminine and I want everything in my life to smell like this. Definitely need to get myself more from this range. I also really enjoy that this has a pump, it makes life much easier and I’m less wasteful.

Tom Ford Black Orchid

Another amazing fragrance is Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, this is my favourite perfume ever and I always start pulling it out in autumn and winter. I keep this one for special occasions as it’s so pricey but it’s so warm and wintery I’d love to drench myself in it daily if I could. I’m going to go and check out some other Tom Ford fragrances as this lasts all day – and even a second if I’ve sprayed it on a jumper or something and have reworn it the next day and I think that might make a good recipe for a wedding perfume, but definitely need something a bit more spring/summer friendly than this glorious dark autumn winter fragrance.

The Hero Project Glow Drops

I recently reviewed this skincare range from the Hero Project and if I’d not already finished up the moisturiser that would have featured as well. I’ve been so impressed with the difference that this range made to my skin and these glow drops make such a difference to my complexion. The full review is here so I won’t talk about it too much – but these are still a nightly staple.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye

current-favourites-december-2016-kiehls-midnight-recovery-eye-cream

I’ve had this in the best part of 6 months now and I’ve barely used this. 2 weekends ago I had a reaction to a new eyeshadow that made me want to scratch my eyeballs out, following that I was left with dry eyelids and a dry under area. After trying a lot of creams I found ones that helped relieve the itching whilst this actually speedily improved the situation. I’m going to use this for another week or so before I write up my full review, but it got the dryness under control in no time.

Makeup Geek Manny MUA Palette

I’ve actually had to hide this form myself at points since getting in to stop myself reaching for it as much. This palette is really versatile and you can create everything from an everyday light and wearable look to a heavier night look. What I love about this palette is that it’s not a bunch of boring neutrals but it’s still completely wearable. I posted a first impressions, swatches and looks post here using this palette.

NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade

current-favourites-december-2016-nyx-tame-and-frame

I’ve had this for ages and had only used it a couple of times, I found myself reaching for this recently after I seem to have misplaced my Benefit Gimme Brow in my draw (seriously need to find that because it’s so quick for mornings). I ended up using this for the for my work Christmas party and the guy who did my eye makeup in MAC said, I’m not going to touch your brows as you’ve already done them perfectly. Considering I have no experience with brow pomades that’s great. I’ll be posting a review of this once I’ve used it for a bit longer as I want to see how it fairs for drying out, but for the past few weeks I’ve been loving this. This dark cool brown is the perfect shade and it doesn’t break the bank either.

Have you tried any of these? And in case you missed it I launched a Christmas Giveaway yesterday, click here to check it out, you can win £50+ of fab makeup items!

I am a die-hard fan of warm-smelling fragrances! There’s something so decadent about them. Have you ever tried Reveal by Calvin Klein? It’s still got a certain warmth to it yet it is quite appropriate for the warmer months still. I always think that it smells like a more daytime version of YSL’s Black Opium.

Great faves! Still love the look of the Manny palette😍 The NYX brow product sounds great. I’ll keep a look out for it. X

My day eye creams are just not cutting it now with the colder weather and I might go back to the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye cream! Even though it’s marketed as a night cream, it’s perfect day time for me.
Tom Ford is a brand that I don’t ever want to fall in love with. I avoid that counter by all means. My friend dragged me there and fell in love with a perfume and scoffed when she learned a bottle costs almost $400. 😮 I warned her!

I remember you telling me you loved it for daytime, way too heavy for me for day – creamy avocado wins that crown still!
Haha I know what you mean, I desperately want a TF lipstick but do not dare get myself into the trap! This is from the less premium range (they’re about £150+) this one is more about the £70 mark, the plus is it’s so potent that I don’t need a lot of it and it really does last all day. I wore this yesterday while we were out shopping all day and had compliments on it at 6pm still after spraying at 9. I do use it very sparingly and normally just in winter so I’ve managed to not make my way through really quickly!

Have you tried Ebay for your Tom Ford fragrance? You might be surprised at the prices you will find. Great post.

      • December 14, 2016 / 10:46 pm

I would have to disagree. I’ve been buying fragrance from Ebay for years. I’ve never had any issues. Plus I’ve found fragrances that can no longer be purchased elsewhere. It’s worth a look.

        • December 15, 2016 / 7:41 am

The only reason I say that is because I know Tom ford is very selective over their stockists they’ve only just allowed boots to start selling their products as they didn’t want to be placed next to brands like Britney (insider knowledge from friends who have worked at head office boots). So I don’t know how eBay sellers would get them legitimately, other brands I would have a problem just not sure if I would on TF!

          • December 15, 2016 / 6:15 pm

Most of the fragrances I’ve bought have been testers that were never used. I haven’t a clue how people get them, but I’ve saved a ton of money on fragrance.

I love when brands come out with colorful palettes 💜 I’m looking forward to your review on the NYX Brow Tame and Frame. 😊 x

    • December 15, 2016 / 2:19 pm

Yes, it’s a nice wearable one without being another boring set of browns (cause I already have too many of those haha!). Tame and Frame review is on it’s way!

Stashy sent me the Midnight Recovery eye cream and it’s great! I use it as a day cream because it’s not heavy enough for the evening, and it works so well under eye makeup.

I can’t get over how pretty that palette is! 😍

    • December 15, 2016 / 2:16 pm

She told me used it as a day cream, it’s way too heavy for me to wear under makeup – I prefer their creamy avocado one for day. For night time though it’s done the perfect job of cleaning up the itchiness and dryness I had!
