My Little Box December 2016 – Christmas

This is my third December being subscribed to My Little Box, and this is the first Christmas themed box that they’ve done. In the past I’ve always been happy they’ve not chose the obvious theme, last year the theme was ‘Magic’ and the year before that it was a collaboration with Fleur De Force, but secretly this year I’m happy with the box as it’s the only one I’m subbed to these days that does a theme, and MLB have pulled it out the bag with this one.

Firstly the box this month has a gorgeous festive pattern of holly leaves and sprigs with other festive foliage adorining the box. Rather than being tied with the beautiul ribbon as usual on the inside, this time it was wrapped up with a gorgeous green bow with a candy cane on top, sadly the top of my cane had snapped off, but I’ll be eating it regardless. I’m hoping I can get the slight stickiness off the box as I do love keeping makeup and skincare overflow in my old boxes and this one is no exception!

Inside the box this month there’s a print with a pretty illustation as usual and notes of warm wishes, and the normal My Little World magazine, with a quick flick through shows some more interesting content than what I’ve been seeing for a few months, with helpful ideas on how to use your items this month.

The first thing my eye was drawn to this month was a little glass pot of Salted Caramel Spread from Tiptree, I adore salted caramel and I can imagine this would be great for baking, spreading on toast or even dipping stuff into. I’m not letting anyone else get there hands on this, I know I’m going to love it. UPDATE: Dipped my finger in it and it’s amazing.

Next up another food item was a pot of tea from Kusmi Teas, a brand we see frequently in My Little Boxes – and I’ll ashamedly admit I don’t think I’ve used any of them yet, this one sounds like a tea I would definitely enjoy curled up on the sofa this Christmas. The Tsarevna is a black tea with spices and orange, sounds delicious.

The next thing that drew my eye was a little box with Winter Morning written on the front, I suspected it was a candle and I was correct! Scented of ‘feu de bois’ – this is fresh, light and foresety in all the best ways. Interestingly Diptique do a feu de bois candle so this feels extra luxurious to have my own cheats slice to a Diptique candle!

The final item not in the Beauty pouch was in a little hessian pouch of it’s own. This is a colab with the brand Lou Yetu and is a nice gold cuff bangle with a thin red stripe running through it, perfect for simply dressing up an outfit over Christmas, and I’m a cuff bangle fan so this will no doubt get a lot of wear! I feel spoilt on the Non-beauty front this month. Well done My Little Box!

Onto the beauty products, first pulled out was a L’Occitaine Amande Shower Oil, this is a repeat offender from My Little Box, but I don’t even care – this is my favourite shower gel/oil ever and I’m not mad to have a really generous sized sample of it (it’s about double the size of ones I’ve had in the past). This is going straight on my shower to be devoured right up until Christmas, it’s a perfect christmas scent!

Next pulled out was the Hyperbole fragrance from Courreges, a brand which we’ve previously had a perfume sample from before in MLB, but again I’m not mad at thanks to recently depleting my fragrance stash in my empties! This is a new launch since October for Courreges, and is spicy and zesty. Not something I’d normally pick out, but the notes of bergamot, white pepper and tonka bean make an interesting blend.

Last but not least is the My Little Beauty item, this is their Christmas Melody smokey eyes duo, which sadly arrived broken (I’m not having much luck with beauty boxes am I!?) This is a pretty combo of a wearable shimmery taupey lilac and a darker plum brown with subtle lilac fleck. This is the first time there’s been a powder eyeshadows from MLB so I’m interested to see how they fair.

Overall I’m really impressed with this months box, and it actually feels like a box that’s been well thought out as theme point of view and tied together perfectly. Ahh My Little Box, I’m fully back on board with you again now, my plans to unsub have been well and truly cancelled.

What do you think of this months box?

In case you missed it I’ve just launched a giveaway to win a gorgeous set of goodies below, click here to find out how to enter… it’s easy I promise!

This looks great. You get a lot of products. The design of the box is beautiful too. I might have to try this out☺ x

I think this one looks like a pretty good box actually! I hope you enjoy it all xxx

The packaging is so beautiful! At least broken candy canes are still edible! πŸ˜‰
I’m not a fan of caramel but salted, it’s tolerable! I’m going to bet that spread just gets consumed with spoonfuls from the jar! πŸ˜†
I’ve accumulated so many teas. I get gifted them ALL the time. I love teas but I don’t drink them as frequently as I should.
The beauty items are really nice! Too bad the eye shadow came cracked. Will you get a replacement?
This box is really nice! I actually like the non-beauty items more than the beauty items…

Yes, seems like it’s gone a bit sticky thanks to being exposed, I think it’ll still be edible in part though so I’ll live!
I do not like caramel, salted caramel is a different ball game though – no rules apply. I think I might put this on ice cream (if we have any… had to clear our of fridge and freezer for kitchen work & it needing to move!)
Yes we have a stupidly large tea collection accumulated, I’m going to have a bit of a clearout post kitchen work because it’s gotten out of control and we barely have anything than normal ‘english breakfast’ (which we have about 6 cups of a day ha).
      Eyeshadow already confirmed for replacement!
Yes the non beauty items this month win a prize!

I want that Kusmi Tea (love)!!! Will you do a product review on that eye shadow? Or quick comment on the performance. It will be fab to hear your verdict πŸ˜€

Hate to break it out to you… you do have bad luck with boxes πŸ˜› Better luck next time, Rachael πŸ˜‰

Yes that’s a good idea – I may post it on insta, I’ll tag you in it when I do! I did note that whilst I swatched them last night after I wrote it up they seemed quite diffiult to build pigment with so will be interested to see how they go on the lid!
MMM looking forward to that Kusmi tea, my strainer has gone walkies though so need to find it before I can use it!

Side note: I think I first discovered you from reading your MLB from last year’s My little magic box πŸ˜€ So technically, I have been following you for a year haha xox keep up the beautiful photo sets

This box looks like a great one, the box itself is so pretty too. I’ve been thinking about subbing to MLB but there seem to have been a few that were more skidded to me, this is definitely a hit and kind if wish I’d got it! Those eyeshadows look pretty, pity they didn’t survive the journey but interesting to see how the powder eyeshadows do from them. That salted caramel spread sounds rather good, not sure how long it would last here! 😁

    • December 13, 2016 / 10:32 pm

That caramel spread isn’t going to last long here I’ve stuck my finger in the jar one too many times already!
The past 9 Months or so have been pretty rocky for MLB and me, there’s been a few bad, lots of okay and only a few good. It feels like its back on its way up again though! You can still sub to them by the end of the month to get this box too btw! X
