I tried to avoid Black Friday this year, as did most of the Uk I think, we seem to have gotten fed up of the whole shambolic fighting only 2 years after it became a thing in the UK. Spying the sales I could have been tempted by a ASOS discount code, but it was only 20% off – a promotion they run about once every month, so nothing felt too temping. After looking at the Beauty Bay several times, before closing the browser window, there were a few pieces I’d had on my shopping list to get – so I thought I’d do it whilst I could save myself a bit of cash,
Not everything on the Beauty Bay was discounted, certain brands weren’t included – such as Jeffree Star and Makeup Geek amongst lots of others – but discounts were offered on a brand by brand basis and were either 15, 20, 25 or 30% off. At one point I had about 8 mid-tone pink nude liquid lipsticks in my shopping basket before I basically had to slap myself in the face and scaled it back to just one.
Milani Amore Matte in Precious (20% Off – £6.40) (link to shade)
I hear you screaming, “erm, Rach you do already own this, and you did already review this” and yep you are correct. When my sister came round a few weeks ago she ended up using it (as we always play with each others makeup when we stay over at each others house, later that evening she text me to ask what lip product she’d used as it had stayed on all day. It was this, and I said I’d pick her up one the next time I placed an order online, so this isn’t for me – I haven’t gone mad. I almost picked up another shade for me – but I decided to get a Makeup Geek shadow for the same price instead. If you’d like to see my review of this it’s here.
LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Timeless (30% Off – £3.50) (link to shade)
I’ve been planning a liquid lipstick showdown post and wanted something completely budget friendly to see how it compared, I’ve also been eager to try something from LA Girl for ages so this seemed like a perfect time to try, and the reviews of this were really good. The shade Timeless had mixed swatches online – everything from my usual midtone pink fail safe, to a slightly brighter berry toned version of it. In person it’s definitely edges more towards the brighter side whilst still feeling within the spectrum I tend to wear at this time of year.
LA Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick in Blue Valentine (30% Off £3.50)
I’m definitely starting to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to lipsticks, I fell in love with a navy shade of Jeffree’s called abused but wanted to try a cheaper alternative before I splashed £15 on a colour I may just not like on myself. I spotted one called Blue Valentine and it looked pretty on instagramesque shots that I was looking at so I went for it, much to Ben’s disgust – he was happy I didn’t go for an olive coloured lipstick though which when I was browsing he said “just why”.
LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Rose Garden (30% Off – £6.97) (link to shade)
Another new brand to me for the comparison post, and one that I’ve gone back and forth on for months indecisively unsure of what shade to order. Rose Garden is another one which had mixed swatches online – sometimes looking like a pinky red brown and sometimes way more pink. I was hoping this would edge more in that pinky red spectrum.
Makeup Geek Shadows – Simply Marlena & Anarchy (Not in Sale – £6.00 Each)
I’ve been really liking the red shades in my Manny MUA Makeup Geek Palette but wanted a few shades that edged towards a pinkier red tone to do a very wearable reddish smokey eye with. I went through every palette and single shadow in my collection and couldn’t find one which was the right kind of tone for what I was looking for. Simply Marlena (named after makeup geek owner) (link to shade) is a bright pink matte which I thought I could mix with the reds to create the kind of shade I wanted as I couldn’t find one that looked as halfway as I wanted in a matte. I then picked up Anarchy (link to shade) online this looked like a deep rosey red, however in person it’s more somewhere between a bronze and cranberry – this is halfway between a satin and a metallic, it’s very pretty and I think I’ll get a lot of use in this over Christmas, but not quite what I was looking for! I’m planning on doing a post of my current Makeup Geek collection and swatches of everything I have myself.
Have you tried LA Splash or LA Girl, I’m curious about the brand?!

Love it. That blue lipstick looks so pretty. Cab’t wait to see how it looks onβΊ It’s the sort of shade my partner would give me a look for if I added it to my basket haha. Xx
I got an eye roll when he saw me open it up, boys will never understand!
Lovley post!! Do you know of any great bb cremes or foundations for dry and flakey skin!? Many thanks – asprinkleofjoyyy xx
Hi joy, no not really I’m afraid that’s pretty much the opposite of my skin Type! X
Ah okay, you lucky thing aha xx
Have you tried the LA Girl liquid lipstick already? I hate it! Have been meaning to write a product regret on it!
No I’ve not tried it out yet!
LA Girl Blue Valentine is so tempting. I too got some products from beauty bay black friday but haven’t received it yet.
Hopefully your parcel will come quickly, they normally arrive pretty quickly. Blue Valentine is an inexpensive way to try out an unusual shade!
Completely off the topic of your post but those copper lights give me life! haha, I loved what you picked up, the photos are amazing! x
Haha, thank you Primark find – they make great blog props!
Ooohhh I love it!
Your shipment came so quickly! Granted, mine does have to cross an ocean… still hasn’t arrive yet!
I wanted to haul MUG stuff but they had no stock left OR they weren’t available for Canadians to order. Who knows.
I have a few LA Splash / LA Girl goodies. LA Spash is better quality than LA Girl in general – this is just in term of eye shadows that I’ve tried, not lip products. I believe LA Girl makes their products in China so I’m not keen to try lip stuff from them.
I ordered on Saturday and it half arrived on Monday & Half on tuesday – not sure why it came in two shipments as it was one order but never mind! I once ordered on a Sunday night and it arrived monday morning – not sure how they’re doing such quick turn arounds! Hopefully yours will arrive quicker than my parcel to you!
Hmm, MUG was available on Sunday so maybe they’d restocked over the weekend or it’s not available like you said, shame π
That LA Splash waterproof lipstick wasn’t lying – tried to wash that swatch off and it wouldn’t budge! Looking forward to trying that out. Yeah not so keen on the Made in China stuff either, mainly did want it for a) trying out a blue lip cheaply b) having another brand to compare against for the liquid lip post.
Super haul! I love the intensity of all the shades you got. Hope to see the blue lippie soon!
Will be trying it out ASAP, maybe at the weekend – might not be so work appropriate!
Love the stuff you bought. You’ll have a lot of new goodies to play with. π

I do, and I have a big MAC haul today – will keep me busy for a while!
Love the look of everything you picked up! Blue lipstick is intriguing me lately too, I’d love to try it but I don’t know when I’d wear it apart from Halloween. I do like the look of the slightly darker, more navy blues π
I was hoping this might be a smidge darker – maybe a bit more greyish. When I met jeffree star he had a shade called abused which I loved – I thought I’d try something a bit cheaper though before deciding whether I could rock a blue frequently enough to spend Β£15 on it!
That’s a good idea. Can’t wait to see what it looks like on you x
Those swatches! πππ Gorgeous! x
I can’t wait to try them!
New lipstick is the best!!!
Fantastic haul! Omg, that blue lipstick – I would never be brave enough to pull that shade off, but it’s so pretty!
Love this blue lipstick such a pretty shade. π
Ah so many pretty pinks, they look gorgeous x
