Finally Deciding What To Buy with My Beauty Bay Voucher Haul

Not only did I get the best goodie bag ever from the Beauty Bay, but they also included a gift voucher in to spend online on what you wanted. This opened up a world of opportunities and I had different things in my cart each day for a week unsure of what to buy. When I bought a new massive Z-Palette to house my Makeup Geek shadows, I realised I had a lot of growing room to do so I mainly decided to expand my Makeup Geek shadow collection with a few other pieces for the upcoming festive season.

So let’s start with shadows, I picked up 3 of their Duochromes, I’ve made up my mind I want all of them as I think they might be my favourite formula from them – I knew I was definitely going to get Voltage a bright white with a pale yellow flash, I’d swatched this at the event but they didn’t have any of that shade to take away, so it was on my list within seconds of swatching. I think this is going to make an incredible inner corner highlight. I the picked up Backlight which I’ve been eyeing for a while – it’s a bright lilac with a blue shift, not a shade I’d normally go for – but I’m finding that I love opting for different shades at the moment. Finally on the duochrome front I picked up Ritzy, which is an unusual dark antique gold with a bronzey shift that can almost look olivey in some lights.

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some glitter or very sparkly pigments, I wanted a colour that was kind of iridescent like MAC’s Reflects which I’m planning on picking up when I go to Nottingham in mid-December – or when MAC opens in Peterborough, whichever happens first. And looked for the glitters on the site, I picked up an OCC Glitter in the shade Spark, which is a iridescent golden white, It’s quite a chunky glitter but can be layered over lots of different colours.

I also picked up a Makeup Geek Sparkler in the shade Milky Way – the Makeup Geek Sparklers are more like halfway between a pigment and a glitter, it’s much finer than the OCC one and has a much more pigmented base in comparison. Milky way is a tinted silver base filled with holo glitter (it reminds me a lot of the nail polish Freaky Like Freud from Sephora Formula X). When this arrived and I opened it up at night under artificial lights this was super sparkly but when I’ve swatched it again in the morning to take pictures it’s much less holo. Kinda good, kinda bad – you can use this to go from a more day friendly to night look easily, but if you want it to be a super holo at all lights then this isn’t gonna be the right shade for you. I purposefully picked Milky Way as it was a bit more of a neutral and less obvious glitter – glitter eyes are a totally new world to me, so I didn’t want to start with a full on bling, this more wearable version is definitely more my style.

Whilst the haul was partially made with a PR gift I was under no obligation to show you my items.

I’m not sure if we’ll have time for the Christmas Market, we’re also hoping to make it across to Ikea as it’s our closest one and I’ve been eyeing some new bedroom furniture and want to check the quality before I order online!

Like fivezero, I’m also plotting a MUG order. I’ve had a running wishlist since 2014. I keep adding to it though. I quite like the look of the loose pigment / glitter hybrid Milky Way!

Rachael, I thought we had some new unwritten rule that you don’t post things that I want to buy when I’ve got no money to spend 😂 these all look amazing! I’m dying to know what you think of the sparkler and the glitter! Xx
