Party Season with Simply Be

When Simply Be offered me to pick some items with them suited for the party season, a quick glance over the newest releases just screamed yes to me.

I’m definitely the person who doesn’t want to be cold, there’s no chance you’re going to be catching me wearing a mini dress on a night out in November or December if I’m walking about town and getting freezing cold in between. So the items I picked were geared towards a more casual party look, but one that’s pretty and with a glistening showstopper none the less.

The first item I picked out was definitely going to be joining my wardrobe as soon as I spotted this. This is a gorgeous Shell top adorned with pretty floral sequin and embroidery pattern. It’s mainly black and silver, with a silvery blue detail, it’s just neutral enough that it will go with just about any other colour, and it catches the light beautifully – the sequins have a matte finish so it’s not so in your face and you don’t have to worry about them dulling over time in the wash or looking and feeling like a giant disco ball. The Tshirt is a lovely mesh fabric, trimmed around the neck, cuffs and bottom in black with an exposed silver zip in the back – I can often find stitching on items which are heavily sequinned itchy to wear, but this is really comfortable. I wore this just over the top of a bra, but if you wanted to cover up a black bralet, crop top or vest top could also be paired under it.

I then paired it with a black bomber jacket, this is a perfect transitioning day to night piece, the fabric has a slight sheen to it which makes it look dressy enough for the evening and not too casual – but not so shiny that you might feel out of place wearing it in the day also. A bomber jacket whilst being on trend for the moment is also a great option for parties and nights out, the coat itself will keep you warm, but it’s shorter length will mean it’s not so bulky that if you need to take it off and keep it on your arm then you feel weighed down by it.

I paired my top and jacket duo with my dark bue eden Jeggings from Dorothy Perkins, New Look Black Strappy Sandals and my Michael Kors Black Clutch. For me this is the perfect outfit for being a party host at home, when you want to feel dressed up, but comfortable enough for running around the house after other people being a super host.

Such a cute top, Rachael! And I loooove the colour on your toenails! Cute little pop of color down there. What’s the nail polish you used? Love the look!

It’s a gel one by the brand blue sky, but I had it done at a salon so I’m not sure what shade it is! Aww thank you, I wasn’t sure on buying the Michael kors bag at the time but it’s been an investment piece that’s worth it as it goes with most outfits!

Love this outfit – you look fabulous! I like the sheer-ness of the top, it’s not too sheer and the sequins add a nice touch x

Thanks Chanelle! Yes it’s the perfect type of sheer, the details and embroidery on it keep it from being too revealing, for me it feels dressier wearing it without a vest top underneath!

It looks lovely with the bomber 😍

Great pick with that top! It has such nice details. And I like how you paired it with casual pieces like the bomber and jeans. Did you rope Ben into playing photographer again?

It’s a complicated piece to style, over black jeans it just didn’t quite work for me, but over blue jeans it popped and the detail stood out much better.
Yes, and he had to do it twice as I didn’t like my makeup in the first set of photos! I feel his enthusiasm for it slipping more with each request for help, he was quiet and moody for yesterday’s session!

I have a leatherette pleated skirt that would work well with this top. Mind if I borrow it? 😉
Aww, tell Ben that he’s a trooper and he did a wonderful job whilst being sullen. 😛
